The only version of Roma F5 that comes with F7 is analog 6s version. 4s and all digital versions come with F4 FC which does not have Bluetooth feature. Not sure why Diatone made this decision (probably cost, but then why not the 4S analog). I thought of one more thing to complain about: the front screws are M2, and they also hold the GoPro mount on. M2 screws are way way less strong compared to M3 and probably the front end is a little more likely to tear out. But Armattan has done the same thing for years and it hasn't been a problem. OKAY I'M JUST TRYING TO BE FAIR.

@@delvpf6671 - good point... but even if you are beginner like I am, I'd still want to get F7 for that price. I mean they offer F7 in 6s version, so why not in 4s as well? Also, why not in HD versions (both, 4s and 6s) while we're at that. HD versions are more expensive, so if we pay that price, it would really be nice to get F7 instead of F4. Even though I am total beginner... hopefully one day I won't be anymore, and then F7 might come handy :)

Thank you. Thank you. As someone that is just getting into fpv, you have been the most help over all. I have not seen all your videos but it's great to see the reviews. I've already bought my transmitter to start off one of your suggestions. If not done already. We (newbies) need a video talking about all the different interconnected communications. I don't know what radios talk to what Google's or what receivers. Which do and what don't. I'm still in the analog price range.

Wow. FPV progresses so fast. Diatone is remarkable. I dig the new F7 flight controller. Their stuff is solid and attention to detail is amazing. I'm still flying a Diatone 20X20 FC that has lived through crashes and even two winter months in a tree.

those mamba motors are awesome. I have the 1606 3750kv 4s on a lumenier qav-s mini 4". I love how the motors have a plastic shield between the screw mount and coils along with the bridge over the wire to keep them out of hitting the bell. the n52 magnets are strong and the motors fly really smooth. thanks JB for another great video

I started off with an amattan badger broke many arms until it flew away then bought the Roma bothe great frames but bang for buck as you say the Roma wins . I luv my 2 romas now and I’m in the air every day even if it’s only for 2 mins😃thanks diatone and thank you bardwell yr history in the making for this hobby keep it up

Regarding the issue of injection moulded arm guards vs TPU printed that can tear too easily where the motor bolts hold it in place - you can do multi-filament prints on any 3D printer by swapping filament between layers, and because PETG & TPU will stick to each other pretty well, you could print the first few layers of an arm guard that the motor bolts grip onto in PETG and the rest in TPU.

Great video as always. This one really looks fun to fly, I have been watching a bunch of your videos now for a month or so trying to figure out which drone and class would be best for me right now. This Diatone Roma really got me thinking... that extra weight seems to slow the rolls and loops down a bit (extra weight compared to 4" for example) and that slower speed looks really nice to me aesthetically. I have a question - at around the 7 min mark you mention that you believe that you can get a Diatone FC and ESC for about 45$ - I have an old Ares Crossfire quad with a bricked FC (can't find the boot jumper pads on the board anywhere...) and it has a damaged ESC so this price would be a big deal for me (mostly since like many of us covid has made employment, eh, more of a "freestyle" situation lately...) and every bit helps. I think if I was working I would be ordering one of these right now! So I jumped over to the links below to check things out but it seems $45 would be the price (ballpark) for just the FC - I am wide open to suggestions (best FC to replace mine, better yet, how to "un-brick" it) and I am not one to hold a YT channel to every single word, it is more like I do not have much experience with all the in's and outs of these and so I'm not sure about this item. Also - I know that your property is featured in one of the Drone simulators (that is awesome!) - have you ever considered hosting something like a national event invitational or open event on your property? Bet a ton of people would check it out, both in person and online - this of course would have to be after covid is tamed. But hey, with masks, hand sanitation, social distancing, and time outdoors in the mid summer sun perhaps that would be more than enough. It seems so obvious I can't be the only one who thought of it! Would you mind if I stayed on one of the guest bedrooms?? J.K.

Great review once again Mr B. Note: ESCs are 50amp not 40amp as you thought which makes it even better for running 6s version! (I prefer good strong 50amp or higher for 6s if you want them to last forever) I have been using the previous version Mamba F722 FC stacks on two 6s quads I built which I believe were also 50amp ESCs (55A burst) and I have had zero trouble with any ESC's blowing up after flying them for nearly 18 months. I really rate the Mamba F7 stacks Diatone make. Good solid units with no issues at a very good price with higher amp ratings than most other 6s rated units. Would definitely consider buying this quad. You are spot on about the VTX being a little small tho. Other than that, the roma is about half the price I spent on building similar drones myself.

I use tracer on 2 of my quads and I get wayy different ranges between the 2 setups . Both are new and very similar in build. But 1 provides better rssi readings then the other . Been racking my brain for about a month

I have a Roma F5 6s and I love it so much I am going to buy another one! I also have the Iflight Cidora Sl5 6s and The Roma is so much nicer in my opinion. The Roma comes with so much extra stuff like a full set of extra plastic parts and a full set of extra screws. The carbon just seams much nicer also. I love the way the Roma flys the Cidora SL5 is nice but I would pick the Roma F5 even if it were $50.00 more.

Exactly what I was gonna said! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I have Roma5 6s and I absolutely truly loveee Roma5 and I WISSSSSSSH I could get other one, or get 2 more, so I can enjoy the flights with diatone products! I have most of diatone products on my customized 6s build drones that I build myself from stratch. So when I heard of BNF Roma5 and I read it's description and at first it sounds too good too be true, so I decided too get one and it was for real!!! I was amazed and absolutely love how the Roma5 look like kinda of futuristic rocket cuz of its colors are so amazing!!! I love everything about Roma5! I don't have issues with my Roma5 and I WISSSSSSSH I could get 1 or 2 more of Roma5 so I can enjoy so much more of diatone products!!💯💯💯💯💯👊🏼

I built my own roma 5 with pro 60 f7 mamba stack with f60 pro 3 with hglrc 800 vtx this thing flys amazing even on betaflight stock tune I haven't changed anything yet or haven't crashed it yet I've seen couple reviews on it and the crashes haven't been good

Great review, i bought my first drone. HS 720... I'm laughing also.. ; } Dissapointed with the camera and have attached a gopro 5 to it. Works well with gps although a pig on a stick rings true. I'll be buying Diatone Roma F5 for my next piece of kit. Even the sound of that was amazing bud. Thanks bud for sharing.

Joshua, thank you for the thorough review as always. I clicked the link for buying the drone at getFPV and it lists the drone as PNP instead of BNF. Am I missing something? I have an EV800D and a Radiomaster TX-16s. If I get the the analog Diatone Roma F5 (4S), what else do I need to get flying (besides 4S batteries and a charger for the batteries)? What takes care of tx/rx in this drone? Thank you for your time and quality videos!

Have used the LEDs on the Mamba f4, mine was damaged,everything on (3.3,5&9v) except the blue light for BF, and the orange light,... So something up with the chip I think, but can't figure it out... As Took it apart, got 3.3v on that rail(mamba was renowned for blowing the 3.3vreg) get the 3esc tones at startup but not the 2"handshake" tones from the FC...

I totally agree with having to go get the quad due to your line of sight being kicked out of adjustment and its inevitable not to crash with free styling for me personally I dont mind walking it gives time to think about the crash. Our hobbie is constantly evolving so it dose get expensive at times

I have a ton of 4S batteries that I want to use so I am looking at the 4S version. How do you think the lower 2450 KV of the Roma F5 will compare to the Nazgul V2 2750KV motors? There is also a Roma F5 V2 Freestyle listed on Diatone's website now with a 1 watt VTX, F7 FC, 50 amp BL32 ESC, etc. and what looks like a pre-installed GPS... (confirmed from Diatone that ALL Roma F5 V2 will have GPS). Trying to decide whether to get the Nazgul V2 or the Roma F5 V2...

great review! rip, cidora, my first quad when it came out. new f4 has a TON of issues, usb ports coming off, bad solder pads, 5v rails dont always work with tbs unify v3. and the xing e's fly really well but bell is crap and seperates, i built every quad since then myself, i still use succexx 45amp esc it is solid, but my mamba mk2 30x30 has proven itself in bando after bando, ,washed in puddles. diatone really stepping up, have not tried their motors, velox v1 and v2 really proven them selves aswell, will stay with those.

I really wanna try this build out eventually 🤞 doubt that'll happen but 🤷‍♂️ can always wish lol. But seems like a good build to get just for parts. Yup I'm gonna get this thing after watching the specs I really like how it built and the cam is what I use too so it's perfect and makes it cheaper if I just wanna test it apart after but probably not. Well see.

I love Diatone electronics, but only have used the F4 fcs. The error leds and bluetooth seem like huge gamechangers.

Ya it can see having to refocus the camera and adjustments but if that part failed then all those adjustments do no good especially when that part is not on hand

if you take a diatone frame f5, take the dji air unit one (frame), you dont have the props in shot ;) the nose is more long ;)

I am completely new to this. Would this be a good quadcopter to start with? What else do I need? Is the controller, goggles and battery included? Hi, what about side holders for fpv camera? Are they made from plastic? I didn't find them as stl models on diatone web site as well as other plastic parts. That had an impact to my decision "not to buy" this frame.

They just sent me a second kit to try, since my first one snapped off at the GoPro. I do like the way it goes together, but 700g is a bit to heavy for my taste. It did fly pretty well.

You can use SpeedyBee app with just usb otg cable and your phone. wireless is just convenience :)

The problem I have with watching reviews of new bind'n'fly quads is that I already have 3 that are still exceptionally good flyers after years of ownership; two Emax Hawk 5's and a Hawk Sport. The only real upgrades I've done to them is add Crossfire & replace their cameras with RunCam Racer Nanos. So at this point I'm watching just to be educated about what's out there, but the reviews are still interesting to watch.

Yeah those quads are pretty special 5inch rigs though hey. Certainly have lasted so long for most of us, I got a heap of Hawk Lro for race fleet and still on my first one nearly 7months later haha. Crazy

@@slowentropy4531 I've only broken 2(?) arms on the first Hawk, bought a bunch of spares and they fit all 3 which is great. But what I also did was print out a TPU bumper I found on Thingiverse 2892570, and works so well when I put one on the front & back arms, you can see how effective they are in my video " Floating on a hot sunny May day" watching a few seconds from the 3:50 mark.

Curious as to why none of the motor manufacturers have cut an Allen wrench keyway into the hollow shafts, to hold the motor with an Allen wrench while tightening prop nut? Like strut/shock shafts on a vehicles. Would be a nice feature. Just a thought.

I correctly understand that there is no receiver at all and receiver should be soldered? There is a version 4s with r-xrs for example? I'm totally noob on soldering 🤣 Regards!
