Thanks everyone for your thoughts and MvM for the great video! As the lead game designer, I can say that I also want a "remastered" edition of Season One. The gameplay in Season One is fantastic and I'm very proud of it. Does Season Two look nicer? Of course, that's why we did it :D But the visual upgrade is NOT NECESSARY. It is just something that we (myself included) all *want*. However, as a team, we had to make the hard choice to either (1) put our time and energy into remastering Season One or (2) moving on to creating Season Three (the co-op expansion). We chose the latter. As a result, we currently have no plans to remaster Season One in 2019. Will we in 2020? Maybe. Or maybe we'll prioritize Season Four. I don't know yet :)

Nice job! I had decided NOT to get Season 1, and then when 2 came out I backed it, but STILL did not get Season 1, and I am really hoping Roxley does a reprint upgrade of Season 1 to make it fit with 2 as well as you noted, Jeremy, it is SUCH a difference in presentation and overall look feel to me vs. Roxley's Season 2... Also, Kira, you were just rockin' it this episode! You can tell you REALLY like this game, and had lots to say about it. Kudos!

Great job on the video! I went all in on the last KS and I'm very pleased with it. The only thing I hope they do, at some point, is have a Season 1 upgrade kit that would give us access to artwork versions of the cards, gametray, fold-able mats! While S1 and S2 plays the same with or without art, it is a wow factor when you see S2!

Absolutely LOVE Dice Throne! I agree with Jeremy that because Nate Chatellier and Manny Trembley have so much design space and expandability to play with, Dice Throne could easily be hitting the table for years to come. Gavan Brown and the team at Roxley deserve a ton of credit for seeing the potential in DT and taking Season 2 to the next level. Now let’s remaster Season 1! (After Season 3 of course.)

I LOVED this review. I could tell you guys are excited about the game.. a feeling I share completely. I didn't know I could get this into a game... but Dice Throne is great in so many ways... As you said, you can get casual players to learn it, but it's got the depth and replayability to let you build deeper strategies. To me, that's the genius. And, I actually think this game mitigates the randomness of Dice a LOT -- multiple rolls AND multiple dice-manipulation cards, not to mention the fact that card upgrades will often offer a second, less challenging attack you can fall back on if the dice don't roll your way. Figuring out how to mitigate a bad dice roll is sometimes the very thing it takes to come back and win. #CursedPirateForLife

I love this game myself. Also, with regards to "dice randomness", the thing about this game and unlike Yahtzee, is you have tools in which to almost never have a turn where nothing happens. If you upgrade your board to give yourself ample options, play your dice manipulator cards wisely, you'll always have something going on. I played with a friend who later realized that after more than 10 games he only ever won on the last one (because he got his ultimate power twice in the same game with lucky rolls). He often got terrible rolls because he would keep rerolling unwisely trying to go for something big, ignoring safer options.. With regards to Season 1, I'm totally fine with how it looks, I'd rather they just focus on adding content to the game itself -- I just hope it doesn't go overboard with expansions. As someone who is a completionist I'll buy it, but I hate when games balloon out of control making it far too difficult to bring out and set up.

I have Season 1 and Season 2 it's such an amazing game!!

I'll be the odd man out as usual, but I actually prefer the season 1 production overall. Season 2 clearly has the better art and graphic design on the player boards and cards. No question. Season 1 wins in ALL the following areas, 1: Card art on the card backs 2: Quality of dice, much prefer the slightly heavier and gloss finish on season 1 over the lighter matte finish of season 2. 3: Quality of the cardstock on the dials is better in season 1 4: Season 1 art has a brighter tone compared to season 2 which is darker and has too much black in the graphic design reducing contrast, so whilst season 2 has more art, the season 1 art actually looks slightly better. 5: The battle box is overwrought and mostly just annoying. This is my biggest issue with season 2. Season 1 is more convenient to store and transport by far. The game trays have no functional benefits over the small season 1 trays and there are a few heroes where the components don't really fit all that well. Still think both are awesome games but I would prefer a less ridiculous box size next time.

Haven't tried season one, but that art is fantastic. I may buy it purely for the visual appeal....

I have never played but have wanted to. Watched on utube on S1R vs S2 and they stated S2 characters are more challenging with different mechanics but they liked better then S1R. Interested in getting as I love the King of Tokyo feel with dice. Unsure what to get, S1R or S2. Individual sets as you mentioned Jeremy is nice but then if really like, chest makes more sense.

The lack of consistency in look and quality from Season 1 to Season 2 will bother me. It's a fun game though, so that won't stop me from getting Season 2.

I only wish that the hobby will get to the state where dice rolling and it's randomness isn't always put into the "con" or "negative" category of every reviewer's Pros & Cons list. Random game elements which are part of a good design aren't some mysterious problem or necessary evil that invades a game's design, for pete's sake. They are what DEFINES the game, and as such are on purpose. So if a game is good, then how can any random elements which help define it be considered a negative? If someone doesn't like randomness then these sort of games simply aren't for them. Simple as that. It in no way construes a negative aspect. I don't know why this hobby cowers to the "randomness haters".
