Dick Nolan was born and raised in Corner Brook, NL, and returned to Carbonear in his final years. He was the first Newfoundlander to be nominated for a Juno award (Country Male Vocalist Of The Year, 1975), the first to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, and the first to receive gold and platinum records. Fisherman's Boy (1972) sold more than 100,000 copies, while Home Again This Year (1972) and Happy Newfoundlanders (1973) sold over 50,000 copies each. In a prolific recording career, he recorded over 40 albums, which have collectively sold more than a million copies.
