This is such a great blooper reel. Thank you for the upload! 2:30 I love Mary Tyler Moore here. She's so anxious to feed Rob the line again. One of my favorite episodes with Laura going back to dancing - "To Tell or Not to Tell" - S01E08 8:47 Love Mary here too in the extended blooper with her laughter and electric smile. I don't think it was as much a blooper as everyone trying to make Mary laugh. 9:52 Sally dancing! And throughout they all seemed to be having so much fun!
The bloopers are from "Sol and the Sponsor" (featuring Marty Ingels}, "Washington vs. the Bunny" {featuring Jesse White}, "Punch Thy Neighbor", "To Tell Or Not To Tell", "Harrison B. Harding of Camp Crowder, Mo." {featuring Allan Melvin}, "Buddy, Can You Spare A Job?" [the director's off-screen voice is Jimmy Komack's], "Where Did I Come From?" (also featuring Herbie Faye), "My Blonde-Haired Brunette", "The Talented Neighborhood", "The Twizzle", and "The Sleeping Brother". 9:52- Jack Benny [his filmed episodes were produced at Desilu that season]. 9:53- Rose Marie dancing with director John Rich.
Shows in those days used to show the blooper reels at the cast wrap parties…like after a season ended…to the cast and crew. They had no idea that anyone outside of them would view these things 60 years later. In fact, bloopers weren’t even a thing the public saw until many years later. Burt Reynolds used to tack them on to the end of his movies in the 70s and that may have been the first time the public saw outtakes. So, yes, that is legit a naked woman slipped in there along with the other edits.
@@randy1979 I'm sure that's what it was I just don't believe that it was Mrs Petrie that was the one that was naked. Someone me a photoshopped her face onto another body but it was definitely not her!
This has the feel of a blooper reel they put together for the cast and crew for an end-of-season wrap party. It's probably the only reason they saved bloopers back then.
You are right. This was a common thing to do for the "wrap party" or for the sponsors, and were often blue. Never meant to be seen by he "viewing public."
This is what is known as a Gag Reel or a Christmas Reel. They were shown at the Show/Network Christmas Party or some were edited to be shown at the Affiliate Convention. At this time in the world, production schedules were very different. They are always risqué and most folks got a kick out of it. They were for internal use only and, as most of them say, not for broadcast. There are many on RU-vid, The CBS Affiliate Convention Tape is hilarious.
I thought I was going a little nuts cause I have been watching The Dick Van Dyke show reruns since 1965 and never remembered Yvonne Craig being on the show, Marty Ingels yes but not Yvonne.
this is a compilation the poster put together, they did not have the editing nor audio editing or the capabilities to add "not for broadcast" throughout back then, also there are nude photos slipped into this video and has been reported slow it down and look at 6 seconds and 6:38 i believe there are more though.
@@pamgessler5923 With some effort and a little luck, you can stop the video on one of those pictures (it's all the same picture) and see very clearly that that is NOT Mary Tyler Moore. I don't know who it is, but it's probably just one of the many nude pin-ups of the day from a sleazy magazine. There were several different such magazines from the late 50s/early 60s that had nude pictures.
8:40 Interesting that Jerry Paris who played Jerry Helper should say that, because he had served in World War 2. Most of his work on "the Dicke Van Dyke show" was behind the camera. He was a big time director and much in demand throughout his career. He directed the show and later directed some episodes of the "Mary Tyler Moore" show. He directed "Happy Days" and "The Partridge Family" as well as many other shows. He was nominated for an Emmy four times and won 1 for the "Dick Van Dyke Show. He was married once, for 36 years and four children. He was married to Ruth Benjamin, his one and only and they had 3 children. He died of a brain tumor at age 60.
YES! Including a blooper from Danny Thomas {who was one of the executive producers of the series}- and a blooper from the "I'M DICKENS, HE'S FENSTER" pilot, produced at Desilu at the time this reel was compiled in early 1962 {"A Small Matter of Being Fired"}.
6:40- "rats and mice" is my favorite funny curse word! No, I didn't hear it anywhere. I came up with it myself. It ironic that i NEVER have heard it since coming up with it.
Note the very last scene of the series ended show “ The Last Chapter “ Rob takes Laura to that fake fireplace and gives her a very passionate kiss. It was out of character for the time. Probably drove the sponsors nuts
What's with the naked chick being shown one frame at a time during the opening sequence? Pretty subversive stuff for a family-friendly TV show in the 60's.
Mr Rogers for his TV show use a Polaroid camera to do continuity photos. One day one of the crew took the camera and took a picture of his Ass, Mr Rogers had the photo blown up and framed!
The quick nude picture of a woman appears throughout this segment and it appears like Mary Tyler Moore or someone of her build so it looks like new Hollywood is just an extension of old Hollywoodland.
The phony counter in the bottom corner is about a ridiculous as the topless women you kept flashing which I'm positive Dick Van Dyke nor Carl Reiner would have had nothing to do with.
Dick Van Dyke?? the dude had a reputation for not "keeping it in his pants," he probably drooled over MTM's backside more than once, he was a drunk, chronically unfaithful to his wife.
You really shouldn’t put such a horrible intro on here we need Jesus he gives true fulfillment! Which this goes for me too. I know I can make mistakes too😊
I have to agree with you to a point, the show was sophisticated for its time but the humor displayed is limited, the constant bald jokes about "Mel Cooley" stale quickly, and Rose Marie sounds like she smoked at least FIVE packs of cigarettes a day, like WTF??
