Also... Changing Megamind and Roxanne's relationship to being "Just friends" was so.... DUMB. I mean sure she was angry at him after finding out he was pretending to be Bernard, but after that she grew to realize their feelings for each other were genuine.
its just basic movie to tv inconsistency, same happened with How to train your dragon, Kung Fu Panda, and the penguins of Madagascar tv series... although peacock was the only one dumb enough to claim a straight to TV movie is a qualety sequel to a theatrical realease. All of those movie bassed shows turn romances into friendships. due to writing and quality changes, most DreamWorks direct to TV shows that are sequels to movies were fun and non cannon to the original series springing originality and good faith.... i will say other dreamworks shows were inconsequential and fun while this is an insult to the original material.
I know it's made for kids, but the trailer says, "Megamind is back, And you're welcome". Which implies that they're also talking to old Megamind fans, it's so stupid.
@@drkevin1302you’re not wrong you know, it’s just basically economics. Improvement in technology increases output. Like the production line for cars back in the day.
>Ask Ai to generate "Megamind Sequel" >Ai began to research "Megamind Sequel" >Ai look at Megamind: The Button of Doom" Ai: *Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate*
AI is great for inspiration. If you ask an AI to write an entire script it'll give you a script with weird dialogue, contradictions and forgetting its own information. If you ask for a general idea it'll give you a really good base to start, the rest of the process is up to you. But people want it to do the entire thing xd
I'm getting tired of people excusing terrible movies because they were "made for kids" KIDS DON'T DESERVE TERRIBLE ANIMATION, KIDS DON'T DESERVE A BADLY WRITTEN STORY!!!
@@drkevin1302 im a kid and.. HOW THE FUCK IS THAT ENTERTAINING, I CANT G OA SINGLE TIME WHERE IM COVERING MYSELF FROM EMBARRASSMENT FROM THESE CORNY ASS BADLY WRITEN FILSM
The AI's idea of having Megamind face off against another intelligent villain is brilliant. Having him get one-up'd by this Technarx reminds me of the Gru and Vector dynamic of the first Despicable Me.
I don't think this was an AI script, I think it was just a rushed first draft that sucks and didn't have any time or effort put into fleshing it out. I've written some of my own personal little story's and scripts before for projects and the first draft always has that awkward poorly flowing feel to the dialog which often needs to be rewritten to sound more natural.
From what I've gotten, the 'sequel movie' was actually written BY the original writers from the first film, and their banes are credited and even had an interview. They even wrote for a short called The Button Of Doom, which takes place days after saving the city from Titan. Also, the story is like that not only for kids but also for the story of their series, Megamind Rules. And believe me, watch the short, it's got more PRESENTATION!
I'm sorry but the series is definetly for kids and there is no way the writers spent more than a combined 1 day to write this script, which I don't think they did. The movie has one of the worst ratings I have ever seen and I basically forced myself through the watch. I still think it was written by a bot...
@@drkevin1302 hm. You're not the only who agrees to that statement. However, if it were the writers who actually did it the script, you think it's better than ai?
@jvr3088 even though the original team came back it's clear they just don't care, they made writing mistakes even just watching the first movie once would make obvious, idk if they had no where to take it after the first or just didn't care but this is what we got
I still can't believe they changed Minion's name. They think they needed to change it because he was no longer a villain, but forget Megamind didn't give him that name either! Watching his origin story we see his parents putting him in the rocket and going "Here is your Minion, he will take care of you..." His parents and his race weren't villains, and he wasn't born a villain. In fact it's quite possible that "Minion" is their planet's Goldfish, just hyper advanced much like the people there mentally. Loyal to those who feed them, Minion took that name possibly by choice to honor his race being wiped out. "I will remember my kind, by keeping their name alive through me sir." Calling him "Chum" is much more derogatory, essentially calling him fish guts.
Yeah I think someone said it's because people would get confused with minions from despicable me? But I don't see how that could happen. one is literally yellow
@@drkevin1302 Exactly, or something similar to Avatar. Don't want to confuse people, despite the fact that movie was named that because the main character was in an AVATAR, or a cloned alien body being used in another world like in a video game... Which makes less sense in the sequels since it was made to be his REAL body. So no Avatar body at all.
Apparently that mess of a sequel was written by the main writers of the first movie. They either lost their touch & Megamind was lightning in a bottle or they just didn’t care for this project & literally used AI to do all the writing.
Could be that the used to have a more delicate script but it got slashed during development to the point where it is unrecognizable. Like maybe at first there were fears of not appealing to modern audiences, then the budget got cut, then they were told to play it safer, then they were told to stretch it out for a tv show follow up. Then they were put under time restraints and focus groups didn’t like what they were doing, so they had to redo everything with an even harder slashed budget and an already set release date, that would have been impossible to do, so they had to cut and rewrite even more. So by the end we got something that has nothing to do with the writers vision but was still written by them technically
They could've been credited simply because they came up with the script of the first movie or characters like Megamind and Minion. Companies can give people credit even for coming up with a single joke.
As a matter of fact, ChatGPT does not have access to the movie itself. HOWEVER, it could easily read off the plot and the characters from Wikipedia or Fandom.
If you look at the script of the Glasgow Wonka Experience, it gives off similar vibes to this. I mean, in that script, the AI just randomly created a new villain out of thin air (the Unknown) with no relation to the original Chocolate Factory story. Given that animation was outsourced to some random Canadian/Indian studio, it makes sense how many corners were cut, so it's not a stretch to imagine that there wasn't even a human writing the story.
Even from the trailer, Megamind 2 feels like a discarded Despicable Me script... because the despicable Me sequels basically already did that "former villain has to pretend to still be evil but then outplay his former fellow villains" plot, oh and also a plot involving the moon! Worse, it makes _zero sense_ in the context of the Megamind universe and retroactively ruins the brilliant original MM movie! Because Megamind (the character) never _had_ a "gang" of fellow villains!! It's a plot point in the Megamind movie that Megamind is totally alone and the only other person he had his entire life was Minion the fish, and how Megamind and Metro-Man are both space aliens and are in fact the _only superhero and supervillain_ in the world! Hence why Megamind gets the idea to create a new hero (which backfires with Tighten) in the first place! The idea of supervillain societies belongs in the Despicable Me universe. Also, the script wants us to believe that this "former gang that Megamind used to hang out with" (which never existed in the first movie and wouldnt make any sense there) _somehow_ did not notice that Megamind is now the hero of Metro City... even though he had a giant battle with Tighten that nobody could miss, and him saving the day was on television! hen for somereason he has to pretend he's still one of them, only to fight them later? Why.
The first movie didn't happen in this assfest. They are completely separate. All the events in the first movie did not happen at all whatsoever in this garbage, idiotic continuity line. That's why there are a million contradictions between the first movie and this sloppily made crap. Because literally ALL of the events that happened before the second movie took place are not anything like the first movie in any way, shape, or form. I can guarantee you that! They would be two completely separate entities.
After watching Megamind 2, I asked ChatGPT to write the plot of of Megamind sequel and it had a much better plot than this (on paper atleast). This is why I know MiniBrain wasn't AI generated.
Here’s what I have come up with for a Megamind 2. Don’t worry, it’s not made by AI. The start of the movie starts with Megamind going back to the prison where he was born to release and rehabilitate the criminals who raised him. One of the criminals Sam was very disappointed at Megamind for becoming a hero. He was also mad at him for forgetting to release them earlier when he had the chance. We cut to Megamind training to become a superhero. Metroman was his teacher. Megamind hires people to pretend to rob a bank so he can stop them. The results were either okay or bad. But Metroman tells him that it’s okay if he fails. He still got a lot to learn. After Megamind think he’s ready. He ventures out into Metrocity to stop crime. However, not much was happening. Metroman was a hero because he has a villain to stop. And without a villain to stop. Megamind ended up in the same place he did in the first movie. But one day. Sam came by and forgave Megamind and wanted to work for him. Megamind agrees and gives him a copy of his gun. The same gun that Megamind used to extract Metroman’s DNA. Sam, somehow secretly got a sample of Megamind’s DNA and gave himself Megamind’s DNA. As well as his great intelligence making Sam incredibly smart. Sam then ran away and for the next few months he builds an army of gadgets and robots. Then, he invaded the city. Megamind who was surprised, and also happy that he finally has a main villain to stop, went out of his way to stop Sam. AKA, Omegamind. Because he thinks he’s smarter than Megamind. When Megamind shows up and tries to stop him. He fails, miserably. In despair, Megamind goes home. Not noticing that Omegamind had kidnapped Minion. When Megamind notices he calls Omegamind and tells him to release Minion. Omegamind says that he will but on one condition. Megamind starts to work for him. If not. He’ll kill Minion. Without any other choice. Megamind agrees. He came to Omegamind’s lair and Omegamind freed Minion. Omegamind tells Megamind his evil plans to take over the city next week. But then, Minion and Megamind soon escaped the lair. However, Megamind tells Minion that he wants to go back to the lair to work for Omegamind so he can be a villain again. Because if he’s better at being a villain than a hero. Then maybe he should just stay a villain. And if he’s not good at being a villain. Then he’s good at nothing. Megamind goes home and thinks if he wants to join Omegamind or not. But then, as he walked outside. He saw Minion, Roxanne, and a bunch of other people. Including the prisoners. Minion told them about Omegamind’s plan and they all wanted to help. But first. They want to learn how to become a superhero. That’s when Megamind realizes that while he isn’t good at being a superhero. He is good at knowing how to be a superhero. And so, Megamind teaches all of them how to be a hero. The same way Metroman teaches Megamind. By next week. Megamind and the rest of the gang went to the city to put an end to Omegamind’s evil plans. And they won. However, Omegamind either dies or looses his powers. Either way, Megamind is left villainless again. But then he realizes. Maybe he doesn’t need to fight a villain to be a hero. And so, Megamind starts working as a teacher at the university for police officers, fire fighters and more. And he even uses his gadgets to repair the damage Omegamind caused. As well as using them for other good reasons like getting rid of waste and so on.
If I had the infinity gauntlet, I wouldn’t snap away half the universe, this so called ‘sequel’ would be the only thing I’d get rid off. Than I’d create a proper continuation.
The Technarx one at least ends with Megamind doing something no one did for him when he was growing up. Believe in the villain, offer them a chance and then help them out to be a part of society. Megamind has to struggle with that, because everyone judged him without chance. With this it could’ve been that he judged them first too, forgetting his own initial struggles but once he enhanced his mind he saw the bigger picture and saved everyone, including the “villain”
I found that and I refuse to believe it. Also they can't just say outright that AI wrote the movie, the original writers could have used AI to write it and just say they did it instead.
@@drkevin1302Can’t even buy the smarter version of GPT for a giant hyped movie sequel 💀. The laziness is literally unbelievable. A child could write this garbage at least 10x better than what we got
If they REALLY wanted to make a movie about Megamind and the Doom syndicate, then they could do it like this: This new doom syndicate meets Megamind, telling that they had their eyes on his works for a while after he became a super hero and knowing about his past evil plans They would take the chance now to slowly manipulate Megamind and try making him question himself if it is worth to fight for all of humanity seeing the bad people can cause This is a simple concept and i'm sure much more can be added to it. But just this is already better and atleast respectful instead of that garbage they created
i thought of something similar, my version was similar to yours, but i thought of the team wanting him to join them because of his evil work, also the mispronouncations in the sequel/show was uncessary, and if they wanted to change minion's name to avoid the yellow guys, they could do it for another reason, not cease and disest. (I did not like the kid sidekick)
Or even continue the Button of Doom then tie it into the game too. Maybe have this syndicate be people who BOUGHT from his yard sale in that short. That blame megamind when their purchases malfunctioned, flamethrower malfunction either destroyed that chef's business OR one of his cooks was burned severely and became Hot Flash for example. Oh and have the leader being the AI Megamind, who somehow survived digitally but was heavily fragmented, also realized Megamind turned good and that wasn't metroman. Fixed his code with bits of broadcasts to fill in some vocal gaps. *Using clips from various characters, some Megamind, some Metroman, some Titan, some Roxanne, etc.*
3:50-4:00 is 100% AI So a couple months ago I told chatgpt to make a story about two guys fighting and the wife of the good guy joins in to help, they beat the bad guy. And lemme just share what the two characters said Husband: "I couldn't have done it without you" Wife: "we are stronger when we work together" Husband: "yes, stronger together" I felt myself cringe after seeing that, I asked AI to continue the story, but instead it dragged out the scene saying "any challenges that come our way, we'll face them, together" So just like those 10 seconds, that dialogue are so basic and generic that it's clear it's not hiding that it was made by AI, maybe the concept of this movie was made by humans, but everything else was clearly made with AI
I usually chuckle slightly at the Ron Swanson meme, but each time it was used in this video it was just funnier and funnier every time for some reason XD
The fact ChaGPT made something better. Ok here's how I'd do it. The Doom Syndicate are not Megamind's colleagues, but instead his diehard fans. They were outcasts just like he was and so they modeled their identities around villainy as he did. The syndicate, Megamind realizes, are trying to push him onto the same pedestal he put Metroman on. Megamind has to try to convince them to abandon their evil ways whilst keeping the city free from crime in the meantime. Remove the self insert, throw in more scenes with Minion/Chum and Megamind strategizing, and have Roxanne try to play up the conflict for Megamind since he loves his presentation.
Maybe they got 90% of their brain lobotimized out of their skull, rendering them more mindless and idiotic than your average enjoyer of The Room and Teen Titans Go.
The funniest part is that he uses the same clip to express his disappointment, just like the writers rush back to the safety of side characters stuffed teddy bear
I asked to ChatGPT 3.5 to write a plot for Megamind 2 and I think even that would be better : Title: Megamind 2: Rise of the Titan Synopsis: After the defeat of Tighten, the city of Metro City enjoys a period of peace under the protection of Megamind and his friends. However, their tranquility is shattered when a new threat emerges from the depths of space. A mysterious alien warrior known as Kronos arrives on Earth, wielding unimaginable power and bent on conquest. As Megamind and his team scramble to defend their home, they soon discover that Kronos has a personal vendetta against Megamind, stemming from a forgotten past. With the fate of Metro City hanging in the balance, Megamind must confront his own history and embrace his true potential to save the city and defeat Kronos. But as the battle intensifies, Megamind realizes that defeating Kronos will require more than just his intellect; it will require the power of friendship, courage, and the belief in oneself. With the help of his loyal friends Minion, Roxanne Ritchi, and Metro Man, Megamind embarks on an epic journey to stop Kronos before it's too late. In a climactic showdown between good and evil, Megamind discovers that true strength comes from within, and that even the most unlikely heroes can rise to the occasion when the fate of the world is at stake. Megamind 2: Rise of the Titan is a thrilling adventure that proves that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, and that with determination and heart, anything is possible.
The fact that Chat GPT of all things made a more interesting megamind 2 plot (albeit summarized) proves that this was written by google AI image generator level bad Artificial inteligence.
Just saying, some of the villains of Megamind 2 are adapted from the original script for Megamind, when Megamind was known as Mastermind and Metroman was known as Uberman, you can even see concept art for that original script where the villains look nearly identical to their designs in Megamind 2.
@squishyboi1179 idk why would they care about people knowing? It's not as if it would've hurt them at the box office or anything, the movie was already gonna flop and they probably knew it.
Remember the times there was something cringe or weird and we didn't claim AI made it? Remember the times AI wasn't so much as mentioned and we were more mature? Good times.
The amount of retcons only serves as more evidence. The doom syndicate was said to be megamind’s old team, while in the first movie, it is made CLEAR he only had minio- sorry, “chum”. Machiavillain was said to teach megamind all he knew about evil, but megind was evil because his escape pod landed in prison!! ffs
It was so sad that Megamind was ruined and I did not expect this to happened at all after 14 years, it went from Megamind to Nevermind, and let's also not forget another terrible sequel and that's Surf Up 2: Wavemania, if I'm forced to watch one of those two awful movies I'd go with Surf Up 2: Wavemania since the animation is the same and same actors too.
I don't think all bad writing means its AI generated... I think it just means the writers either don't know what they're doing (somehow), or more likely they just didn't care and threw out the sloppiest first draft they could think of for a quick paycheck.
Plus the way that they marketed the show they marketed it as continuing a cult classic for the millennials with them saying “ it’s back better than ever you’re welcome” implying that it is not for children, but for the people who watched the original when they were kids and have grown up. And the reason why they flopped is because they targeted an audience that did not care about, KIDS! Because the current kids never grew up with Megamind, so when they release it, not a single kid even cared about watching it.
I prompted ChatGPT to write Megamind 2, this is what I got: Title: Megamind 2: Rise of the Titan FADE IN: EXT. METRO CITY - DAY The city is bustling with activity, but something seems off. The citizens are uneasy, whispering among themselves. CUT TO: INT. METRO MAN MUSEUM - DAY The museum is filled with people admiring the exhibits dedicated to Metro Man's heroic deeds. Among them are MEGAMIND and MINION, disguised as ordinary citizens. MEGAMIND (whispering) Something doesn't feel right, Minion. MINION (looking around) You're right, boss. It's like the calm before the storm. Suddenly, a loud crash is heard outside. Megamind and Minion rush to the window. EXT. METRO CITY - DAY A massive robot, TITAN, emerges from the ground, causing chaos and destruction. Citizens scream and flee in terror. MEGAMIND (into communicator) Tighten your screws, Titan! What do you think you're doing? TITAN (voice booming) I am no longer Titan. I am now TITANUS, ruler of Metro City! Megamind and Minion exchange worried looks. CUT TO: EXT. METRO CITY STREETS - DAY Megamind and Minion fly towards Titanus, ready to confront him. MEGAMIND We have to stop him before he destroys everything! MINION But how do we defeat a titan? MEGAMIND With our brains, Minion. With our brains. They land in front of Titanus, who towers over them. TITANUS Ah, Megamind. I've been expecting you. MEGAMIND What do you want, Titanus? TITANUS I want what's rightfully mine - control over Metro City! Megamind and Titanus engage in an epic battle, using their wits and gadgets to outsmart each other. Meanwhile, Minion fights off Titanus' army of robots. As the battle rages on, Megamind realizes that Titanus is being controlled by a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows. MEGAMIND (to Minion) We need to find out who's behind this! Together, they uncover the identity of the mastermind - HAL STEWART, a former nerd who holds a grudge against Megamind for humiliating him in high school. With Hal's plan exposed, Megamind and Minion devise a clever strategy to defeat him and reclaim Metro City. In a final showdown, Megamind confronts Hal, using his intelligence and charm to outmaneuver him. MEGAMIND You may have the brawn, Hal, but I've got the brains! With a brilliant stroke of genius, Megamind deactivates Titanus and saves the day once again. The citizens of Metro City cheer as Megamind and Minion stand triumphantly. MEGAMIND (evil grin) Looks like it's back to prison for you, Hal. HAL (defeated) You may have won this time, Megamind, but I'll be back! As Hal is taken away by the authorities, Megamind and Minion share a laugh, knowing that they'll always be ready to defend Metro City from whatever evil may come their way. FADE OUT.
I hate it when people are saying “AI is the best thing humanity has created” or “AI is a very useful tool” and yet there are so many terrible movies/shows because of AI
Last night I was in a movie theatre and the new megamind movie was just about to end. It was beautifully animated and megamind was a walking through the city with Chum. After the disagreements they had throughout the movie and the eventual reconciliation, megamind has a heartfelt moment with Chum as they walk down the street, saying that Chum never really suited him and decided to go back to Minion. They start laughing and run through the street to the invisible car. They hop in and start joyriding down the streets of metro city into the sunset, laughing all the way. It was genuinely an enjoyable ending that cemented the eternal bond these two idiots have, ending with a wide shot of metro city in a new light. It was such a perfect ending with gorgeous blue lighting and I just couldn’t stop thinking about it afterwards. Up until the point I woke up and realized this was all just a dream and we’re actually stuck with this dogshit of a movie.
No, by the time this movie started the animation process, ChatGPT and AI writing programs like it were in their infancy. Animation takes a really long time, even live action movies take around 2-3 years to make from concept to release.
As someone who will one day become a parent... children deserve better, and I hope by then that there's at least some stuff left for them to enjoy instead of all the brain rotting garbage that keeps getting pushed out to exploit children for online revenue
Remember a year ago when we were all worried AI writing was gonna replace human writing completely? We were so worried writers would get put out of jobs and it would be indistinguishable And then wish came out
The movie _Megamind_ is brilliant and it never needed a sequel, period, since the story is told and wrapped up. And it certainly didn't need a "sequel" that reads like a discarded Despicable Me script and terrible-looking 3D CGI animations at odds with the artstyle of the original movie!!
I not only think it was written by AI, but animated by AI. It seems to me that literally no one actually wanted to work on it, so they just used AI instead. The only human intervention was the voice actors. And even then I'm not sure.
Honestly, based on what I've seen and heard, Megamind 2 isn't *that* bad, it just has a bad script, continuity issues, and bad animation; the concept itself isn't that bad, at least it wouldn't if it wasn't Megamind.
Okay but ngl Pierre Pressure is actually a pretty cool name for a french villain mime (idk his power didn't touch the movie, never intend to), definitely the modt creative name of the bunch
i used chatgpt 3.5 to do the same thing you did and it was better than the actual megamind 2, basically metro city opens up a museum of villains (don't ask me why) and this villain named eclipse showed up, for some reason chat gpt cut it off right after eclipse and megamind were about to fight but it was a cool idea
I watched this with my friend because she was a huge fan of Megamind. We obviously didn’t like it. But like he said in the video, I think the main problem was that they focused too much on the jokes and puns instead of focusing on character development or the plot itself (that’s if it wasn’t actually ai generated)
The one pass I’ll give this movie is renaming Minion. Illumination would not let Dreamworks keep using that name, and that’s really the one thing I can accept from this movie
They forgot that if they wanted to appeal to audience that's fan of Megamind all the audience will already be grown up and if they wanted to appeal to children they atleast need some quality to give some impact compared to original
