They're becoming sephora brands disguised as drugstore brands. The real drugstore brands for me are like elf, essence, la girl, wet n wild, revolution etc. They only ones that are good to me are elf and wet and wild, and revolution complexion products, however their shade range is shite
Right! I’m sick of it too! I decided to pay $10 more & buy MAC only when they have a sale! Haven’t gone back to drugstore foundation since. No regrets & now I actually love how my skin looks rather than looking in the mirror later being shocked at how makeup settled because it didn’t look horrible like that when you first did your face. I quit it 😆
EXACTLY!!! Like how it’s there high brand makeup cheaper than some drugstore makeup ??? Like some drugstore makeup is like 30+ when you can just buy high end makeup
I had no problem with the covergirl one (bit the bullet when it was on sale). I have dry skin and used a brush to blend and it worked out fine. It was extremely dewy and light coverage but I expected that with the name of the product. Never tried the Chanel one and I'm sure it works better but I dont have Chanel money lol.
Your so lucky because the same thing happened to her happened to me (I have oily skin) I want it to work so bad cus the Chanel one is so expensive but I love it so much oh also the Chanel one have more pigment but I was really hoping the cover Girl worked on me
I have oily skin and when I used it, it was really watery and hard to work with at first. But it works better when I apply it using a brush instead of my hands.
I have never tried the Chanel original version but I’m on my third bottle of the Covergirl. I really love it on my dry mature skin. Also, I have a CVS rewards card and I’ve been able to purchase it with coupons all three times and never paid more than $11 for it. But since I love the Covergirl one so much I would like to try the Chanel. I wish Sephora sold Chanel because for me Sephora is easiest if I have to return anything as I am close to several Sephora stores.
Try it with the NYX blur screen. Really work it into the skin. It’s like magic. Also, I use like 3-4 pumps. But it seriously gives me the most blurred but glowy finish
Babes the point is that with the Chanel you don’t need an additional product to make it look good whereas the cover girl literally saying needs an additional product to look somewhat decent. Not only that but it’s alarming that you have to use 3 to 4 pumps. That tells me that you are not getting enough of the pigment beatsin the recommended amount to get the look you desire. You might as well hang up your hat, sweetie, and get the Chanel one you’re not convincing any of us.
@@JR-md9rz I appreciate that you referred to me as a queen however I don’t identify that way at least not how it’s being defined these days. Further, I would note that your implying my attitude which is an assumption and an incorrect one at that. I told her the truth it’s up to me how I deliver that truth and I won’t change that, just because people assume what it is
@@Nick-ei8lt well I’m still more about paying $15 over $70. I use the blurscreen for the spf it was just a bonus that it had that effect. It looks good without it, but with it 10/10. I have hyperpigmentation that I am trying to cancel out which is why I use as much as I do, and it is the only base combo that I’ve ever used that looks so natural.

Yeah I LOVE the Chanel one and I bought the Covergirl one and it not only wouldn't freaking blend, made me look oily instead of glowly, it settled in weird areas and when I got frustrated and tried to set it and add concealer it broke up everything
Makes me happy i gave up makeup in my twenties! I watched my aunties and mama tone it down...then special occasions only. The wise words were 'i know where to buy it and how to apply it i would rather apply my time and finances elsewhere'
Well, cover girl isn’t strong in the foundation arena- their strengths are more mascaras , eye liners and shadows , lip sticks , and I’m sure others, but I have not found cover girl to be a strong contender when it comes to great skincare or outstanding foundation coverage consistently-
THANK YOU FOR NOT USING BEAUTY FILTERS & SHOWING YOUR REAL SKIN❤ sometimes I see these makeup videos and I wonder why theirs all look so perfect and mine is pores, wrinkles, patchiness, redness, it’s nice to see people show the real deal so we don’t feel alone ?? If that makes sense
I’ve used Chanel foundations for years (just refilled my translucent powder). That Les Beiges Chanel formula is lovely! Lightweight, fresh, just the right amount of light long wearing everyday coverage. My skin feels healthier when I wear it. (Plus the color is a perfect match for me). Thanks for doing your comparison .
Love this cover girl foundation. I always get compliments on my skin looking like a porcelain doll when I use it. It’s my daily foundation for work 💕🫶🏻
See i have both and the chanel one is definitely better. The covergirl one i found was too yellow but also wouldn’t blend well, looked very streaky and made the rest of my makeup break apart.
@KatherineAvans Sorry to burst your conspiracy bubble but she is 100% correct about everything she said. The Chanel blends well, is lightweight, sits beautifully, and incredibly smooth. The CoverGirl doesn't blend well at all, is greasy, doesn't have any coverage, doesn't sit well, and is overall unpleasant. I'm a CoverGirl lover but they did us wrong with this one lol Not everyone on the Internet is lying to you 😅
I’ve always just mixed my liquid foundation with a carrier oil to make it sheer and glowy. You could also just add it to some sort of face serum and mix it up then apply
Girl no joke Mary Kay timewise foundation is the absolute go to and worth every penny. I went to a meeting to see if I wanted to become a Mary Kay rep (didn't work out for several reasons) but what my favorite part was we colored a woman's face with permanent marker (like first to pass out at a party kind of colored) and she put some foundation on a tray about the size of a quarter dipped her brush and flawlessly covered everything in the lightest application I have ever seen! Bought myself a full size tube and it lasted almost a year doing my makeup daily.
Try loreal with hyaluronic acid. I liked that foundation for being so smooth yet watery to look natural. Only foundation i like but im also afraid to try more. I do like the loreal with the hyaluronic acid though it helps look more natural:)
What a lot of people don’t seem to realize is these brands such as Revlon, Maybelline, Etc, are owned by the higher end companies. For example Lancôme and L’Oréal are one in the same company along with many others. I learned this years ago when I worked for Estée Lauder. The point is they’re all made by the same companies.
I love this video! I have been using covergirl but I felt the same way and decided to upgrade to something more. I walked into Sephora and they chose lady Gaga foundation for me and a bit pricey but the bottle is HUGe and lovely, perhaps you can do a video on that.
Haha, 1st wear primer. I’ve tried both… sure the Chanel is nice however almost 100 dollars for a foundation is horribly crazy to pay. The cover girl is a dup for the Chanel. Cover girl is 15 bucks, no products of different brand will ever be the exactly the same, work the beads in your hand than rub on your face. However if you are good at makeup you can make any product work. She didn’t talk about the wear time , different skin types this is what products are all about. I’m a makeup artist, the cover girl is better here is why, same wear time, same coverage, if you have pores like everyone does WEAR primer, this is the BEST PART it’s over 55 dollars cheaper than Chanel. Everyone has bills don’t feed expensive brand names your hard earned money. If you feel you MUST buy the Chanel do it then, you will be over it like I am. The influencer is pushing the Chanel instead of showing how to make any makeup products work for you. If she prefers Chanel that’s her personal preference. Be creative and play with your makeup and you will see you will become just as good or even better than most influencers on RU-vid.
I actually loved the Cover Girl as well and didn’t have to worry about it settling in my pores because I actually worked in into the skin. I’ve tried both and if you put the same amount of effort into the cover girl that you do the Chanel, it looks the same. I have combo skin with mild oiliness in my tzone and it’s become a favorite.
I have to respectfully disagree. The products are similar but a dupe it is not. I own both, the chanel one is definitely better imo. The covergirl ones shade match was off (looked too yellow on me) but it wouldn’t blend for shit and it looked very streaky in addition to settling into my pores, then when i tried to even it out with concealer it made my concealer break apart.
The chanel one was the best make up product i ever used and continue to. I wear light coverage foundation and this is perfect…i did thought that its not worth it since it looks like there is little actual product in but its so pigmented that i use only a small drop …..
One thing I realised using covergirl foundations and concealers is that it’s not meant for dry skin girlies. No matter how well I prep my skin, it settles in the pores and accentuates my dry patches.
Yeah, I bought the Covergirl product too, hoping for the same performance as Chanel. However, I found that it took longer to blend and also just sort of sat on top of my skin. Paid nearly $30 for her in Canada too. Now she just sits there! 😢
The fact that cover girl has had this product for years and people are just now testing to see if it’s a dupe like trust me, girls we would know by now 😂 but i definitely I’m interested in that Chanel foundation now that I’ve seen it on you ❤
This was just released in 2024. You might be thinking of the cover girl simply ageless 3 in 1 foundation which comes in a similar bottle with swirls of foundation pigment and swirls of white moisturizer/primer.
Love the review!! I've been super curious about how it comes to the Chanel. Sidenote, but I've been saying this for a while now as a former cosmetic retail worker -- drugstore prices are not affordable anymore. To me, affordable means single digits, maybe spilling over to like $11-12 at most (for a complexion product). This is a slap in the face to lower income folk that love makeup.
That’s so disappointing. The chanel one looks so beautiful but i just can’t justify spending that much on a tint. But the Covergirl one just does not sit well. Darn.
@@Suki0428I guess in my head, any thin and liquidy complexion product with a light coverage is categorized as a tint to me. If it’s going for a “your skin but better” vibe, it’s a skin tint not a foundation even if it’s not marketed as such. To me, foundations have a creamier and thicker texture and usually have at least a medium coverage. But either way, skin tint vs foundation are just branding and marketing terms. Regardless of if it’s a skin tint or foundation, light coverage for $70 is a no from me. I don’t care if it sits beautifully or has skincare ingredients, it’s just too expensive to pay for something that isn’t going to cover acne or discoloration (or requires me to use a significant amount of product to do so). Heck, I love my Ilia skin tint but the price on that makes me wince sometimes too.
@@ijustwanttocomment21no, a skin tint is a skin tint and a skin tints job is to even out your skin tone. Plus this is a water based foundation which is usually used for drier skin so a formula that you can build on is better suited because from what I’ve seen, thicker formulas like crème foundations or regular full coverage foundations don’t sit well on dry skin because it’s too thick.
After contemplating on the Chanel one for a year, I finally ordered it through my gift cards and reward points from Ulta. Can’t wait to try it. I’ve always wanted drugstore foundations to work on my skin, but they’ve always failed me. Thank you for the comparison!
When you consider that it takes 5 x less of the Chanel and it does do good things skin care wise, meaning the skin is better after having used the product, I would say this might be one example of getting what you pay for , might be
This would be one of the rare instances I'd go for the pricier product just because of the quality. Maybe not as an everyday foundation but definitely for those special occasions when I want my makeup to look fantastic.
I love how she was almost out of the product and was complaining about it then proceeds to wipe it off her hand onto a paper towel pretty much wasting 75% of it.
I bought the cover girl to dupe the Chanel because I just couldntttttt with the price. I love the cover girl one so now I'm Def going to have to get the channel one
lol I found that on a yard sale (new) for like 5 bucks, but I think it performs well on my oily skin, I do see how it's hard to blend but it does sorta even my skintone. never for 20 tho
@@AyngeMackayI mean it does, and it's very lightweight like a serum, but it's sorta hard to blend (just how you see in the video) I don't know if it's worth it for the price but if you find it cheap it's fine~
Thank youuu! Ive seen a few people review and love it but when i gave it a go, it was very splotchy and settled into pores as well. Thought it was just me having issues so i appreciate this❤
The cover girl one is so patchy on me but the Chanel one works for me it sucks so bad because I really really want it to work cus the Chanel one is so expensive
Ty I was thinking about trying it and I have huge pores. I’d have been so sad! Your honest reviews make me so happy. Can you advise any products that help to minimize pores or prevent the make up from setting into the pores? I’m a beginner 😮
@@anna-de7bo o i checked after i commented last time actually and the chanel water fresh tint came out 4 years ago while the rose inc came out like 2 years after that so 2 years ago and then chanel made the foundation version almost 1 year ago.
We can only dream for a dupe that is even the least bit comparable to Chanel! I'm sorry these companies, elf included are laughing all the way to the bank with these dupe products. They do NOT have the quality and NEVER will. As commented by previous people, $20 for a drugstore product is a joke...your money is better spent toward the REAL product! ✌️💕
