Yesss!!! I alway thought my beer belly helps me become more aero 😊 and now its seems confirmed 👌👍

better than thin and arched back you'd be catching air like a sail so enjoy yourself! We are never riding comfortably in that position anyway it's ceazy. The physics and drag is legit though everything is curved like a plane, to a Bugatti you don't want 90degree angles far from them. So if you can get a shape that also allows air a path off chest to clear under saddle area directly massive advantage . I think that's what hes saying at least ✌️ 🍻

I think jonas just has a really weird torso shape. There's video of the tt where you can see his spine poking through his jersey. And right after the finish there doesn't appear to be any on his front either. Unless its some sort of self inflating bag thing but thats a stretch. You can also watch any other race and he has the same torso shape. Hes just an oddly shaped dude and maybe that helps significantly. Would be hard to get anything past official's since they are literally standing right there holding the bike.

You might be correct about the back. Body shape can't be ruled out. However, the front is a different story. I couldn't locate any images of a zipper down with the radio. This suggests that there must be an additional element securing it in position, possibly contributing to the extra padding.

Really? No evidence of your claims really. Not a subject worthy of a video but I guess a channel must be built up somehow..and I guess I've now contributed to it

What really gives Jonas an advantage is that he moulded his body to be aerodynamic through hard training on his tt bike, 3 times a week ; his back and shoulders are perfect for TT

Jonas hates rollers too it's bizarre. By 2021 he still rarely road rollers or trainer. More the fact he seems to be accelerating while letting off pedals. It was a climbing ITT if it was prologue and it was remco and ganna ok. They were uphill more climbing than any stage but queen stafe drag was minimal. Doesn't explain time gaps. Not back shape looks like he has scoliosis
@ryanphelan6861

he dislikes the trainer. Hes never been fan he said so in 2021. After his strong performance in tt where tadej beat kung and mathieu was i yellow he was asked and was first time he mentioned it. Hes not perfectly built for tt at his weight if he had thresholds to make for great time trialist hed have already won lombardia, and liege and ardennes all together should be in cards. Like a healy he does have narrow shoulders which are great and almost whole team have tried to adopt that dumoulin position that is just perfect posture. He will never have a ITT like that way too many uncomfortable moments and numbers. You dont say i thought my computer was broken I was riding so fast. If you are riding an ITT to power you ride to your or near it especially with climb at end. You go without and dont want splits etc just go flat out but you dont ride with your meter do negative splits etc for a climb and ride so far ahead of threshold power you think its broken. Hes been revelation a while now but especially in basque in 2021. Hes great but he has to race his countries nationals road race and ITT and then worlds when he feels hes ready it was massive issue with froome its very uncomfortable in country with likes of asgreen and mads pederson being top class and racing and winning hardest one days and one days and then destroying them in a grand tour ITT but after a rest day. If you look at 2021 or even 2020 vuelta his physique is very different his vascularity has completely changed and een pigment of his skin and its not a tan from training in warm weather its just redness that comes with vascularity a lot like froome did see froome in 2010-11 and 2013 on lean to point where sustaining glycogen youd think would be problematic. Also on earliest of time checks that were still completely suited to specialists and bug rouleurs like cavagna, kung who had fastest time and actually blew up he went out so hard and jonas scorched that. At his size even a fraction of that power hes in thick of things all ardennes and as mentioned lombardia especially. Pinot is pure climber and he won it with known descinding difficulties something jonas had been great at dauphine and just in general he goes downhill better than any climber not named izzaguire or bilbao. I dont think any of these race results will eer change like you could feel in previous generations but that ITT was uncomfortable. Enjoy vuelta think Jumbo could actually 1-2-3 podium I think sepp will get to attack again and if he gets one soler, ayuso, or almeida with him or whoever jumps for jumbo only bora likely to help remco. Those two teams have 6 guys in GC its amazing. Soler is l'avenir winner remco skipped it obviously but ayuso didnt win it. Enjoy !!

Stop spreading these false news. These suits are so thin you can basically see through them, and if you watch the video live instead of freezing one frame you can see its all Jonas. By the way, I just watched the vuelta tt, and you could see Jonas had his radio reveiver on the back. If you see that from the side, it looks like a hump.

the bottle (or anything else) on the belly gives such an enormous advantage that it is now banned even for triathlon, where otherwise rules are much much less strong than in cycling. And on the back... a big aerodynamic goal is to let the air flow tear off only at the end of the rider, one big problem here is the transition between the helmet and the back. It is very likely that a "inlay" that is well designed and perfect tuned to the rider and his position and his helmet will help very much. So either they allow this or they have to control it

Same as my thought after watching the Netflix series. Vingos body shape is weird, doesn't look normal. Unless he used fairings, which I suspect he did.

Vinegar’s stupidly large win margin wasn’t down to aerodynamics He put nearly 3 mins into WVA who was 3rd! Only 27km!! It was the most doped performance of all time

these aero enhancers are getting RIDICULOUS. That's why I look at running as the more pure aerobic performance, because in cycling htere is too much aerodynamics involved.

I wonder if it is some sort of inflatable faring around the coms, because is looks smooth and usually when he's not moving and sitting up his chest completely flattens out. Not sure about his back, but the upper chest is not natural shape

either way UCI needs to ban them (Fairings). But they seem to not care. Which is a pretty big spit in the face to people like Graeme Obree and other cycling inventors that got heavily bashed in the last 40 years. Its all about money at the end of the day.

All Im gonna say is it was filmed when he took of his suit at the end of the stage NOTHING was there. His body is like that. I rest my case. However if you go to Remcos ITT WC run there was a clear bump on his chest. Whether this is cheating I dont think so and the marginal gains of 9% must be severly overinterpreted. For sure that is comparing it with a bad position to a good position with this ding song on them.

C'mon! What do you want for $15K? It's like you bought a car and the driver's seat was welded in-place! "Sorry mate, here's a pillow and some blocks for the pedals"? Cycling consumers are morons for putting up with this crap, but the industry has done a great job convincing these fools to part with big money for bikes that come in t-shirt sizes, so who is really to blame?

Remco also used a 'fairing' in his chest, lots of padding for radios apparently, for the World Championships ITT. It was soo obvious, I think Ganna would have walked it if he had similar advantages. Ganna actually said there are no more improvements to be made in his physiology it all in the aerodynamics.
@koopalibrary
@koopalibrary Год назад
the difference was 12 seconds. Even without that Ganna would clearly not have walked it. It was gonna be a close call either way
@thomaschilcott
@thomaschilcott Год назад
@@koopalibrary If the 1.5 seconds per km suggested in this clip is valid for the "well-padded team radio" method, then the potential saving over Ganna's time could be 1:10, or more. In fact it could be a LOT more, because Evenepoel won the worlds TT with an average speed of 51.8 kph, whereas Vingegaard won the Tour TT with an average speed of 41.2 kph, and as we all know, aero drag increases at the cube of velocity. It's all speculation though!
@koopalibrary
@koopalibrary Год назад
@@thomaschilcott Van Aert was using it as well and he finished 5th... i'm not saying it ain't helping the aero. Ofcourse it does or they would not be using it. But for anyone to believe Ganna would beat an on form Evenepoel by 1.10 given what we know from previous TT battles is fooling themselves. Whenever Evenepoel is on form he was close or won. There have been TT where Evenepoel been blown out of the water. But these came after his crash during the comeback year. At least that is what my memory is telling me. Might be i'm thinking too much of the more recent TT ,but really those are the most relevant.
