Absolutely love this watch. The Snowflake is a stunning watch, especially in person, but this option with no date and no power reserve just gives you another choice. To be honest I'd happily have both.

They came so close to perfection! This with the snowflake white dial and 100 metre water resistance or a smaller sized snowflake without the date and the power reserve would be the perfect watch!

Finally a modern-day GS that's sized right for my 6.5-inch wrist. Thanks for sharing this one. I'm in agreement with you about everything else too, especially the no-date dial symmetry and texture, plus the beautiful, slimmer case design. Absolutely stunning! Now there's a better option: the SBGX353. 34mm and a nicer case shape, and significantly lower price; essentially a smaller quartz version of the Omiwatari.

I have a Snowflake and it is my favorite watch. I really like the date and the power reserve meter. This watch is equally beautiful and having the power reserve meter on the back is a great idea. I would prefer an automatic and this is more of a dress watch and I never get dressed up.

I went in looking to purchase a Snowflake and walked out with a pre-order for the white birch. I was quite deeply underwhelmed with the snowflake. The titanium makes it feel cheap. The omiwatari dial is unreal and for my choice trumps the snowflake.

Great video. Tons of valid points on this beautiful watch. My favorite is hand wind with PR on the back. I dont know why more companies dont do this.

Watches using 9R31, 9R01, 9R02 and 7R14 have this configuration. The new 9RA2 also puts PR indicator at back side even it's automatic.

Perfect for me would be a GS style dial, spring drive, titanium, tapered bracelet, power reserve on the back(not the front) but visible date complication... Handwind spring drive sounds awesome and the thickness improvement is awesome

a dateless hand wind is not something that appeals - until now. I've just realised that for me, it's a bit of a punish having to change the date on a watch I haven't worn for a while. Plus, I have an 8 inch wrist but I find myself increasingly drawn to smaller, thinner watches. You've made a convert.

Even we had some opinion differences about replicas earlier baldie, got to agree with you 99% about this watch. I love it but it got one major visual setback which I cant get over : dial pastel color. Is that dial really light blue? In my opinion, luxury watches should stick with white/black/grey dials, not pastel colors. Color are just too ...non classy, IMHO. However if that baby blue is not turnoff for you guys, buy this watch, now. Nice review!

Exactly. Spring drive is a nice “complication”, but nothing more than that. I have a modern conventional mechanical watch that runs at +0,5seconds per day, so the +- 1 second advertised for spring drive is nothing to write home about anymore. Other than the gimmick of the sweeping second, it is just a no date, manual wind watch, be it with a very proper level of finish. 4000 would be more than fair. OK, 5000 because of the nice story behind the beautiful dial and the name “Grand Seiko” printed on it. No more than that.

@@felix3138 It's advertised at 15 seconds per month. Apparently there's some rounding error. My experience shows an accuracy better than 15 seconds per month. Over a week's time I noticed maybe 2 seconds off, at most.

If I were to buy a GS watch it would be my dress piece most likely. Needless to say, this model fill that niche much better than Snowflake. That's regardless of Snowflake being a cool watch in its own right. btw, I hope you continue to release videos at this time of the day. They show up in my feed right when I start my lunch time in UK.

Lovely watch. For how many watches are in my rotation, I love manual wind watches because I find I rarely need a self-winding movement.

I tend to wear a watch for a week or two. Then I switch it up. So for me the big thing, with all these new watches with 80+ hour power reserves, it is kinda useless. If I put a watch down it stays down for weeks.
