Did I do the right thing part exchanging a Jaguar XF for a VW Golf GTI?
Welcome to the @Cars 'N' Stuff channel where we're starting off our RU-vid journey to try and showcase how we buy and sell cars.
In this video, we're showing how I took a part exchange a 2009 Jaguar XF 2.7D Premium Luxury with 124,000 miles on the clock in exchange for a 2005 VW Golf GTI 2.0 Turbo (remapped to 270bhp) with over 170,000 miles on the clock!
Let me know if you think if I did the right deal? What would you have done? Both cars are brilliant and both serve different purposes so I think peoples opinions will be split.

I think you probably got pissed off with the Jag and felt desperate to shed it. Hence the snap decision to get into another car. I think that the miles on the golf are way too high and combined with the mods would make me very nervous. Its great that you pulled another 500 out of it but, I would still try selling the golf asap. Get down the auction asap and get another car to flip. You can make more money than working full time.

I was happy once it was fixed. I wouldn't list the car for sale otherwise. I was also happy with the deal and I've actually sold it (well swapped it...) another video incoming to reveal...

I would never part exchange yet as not enough knowledge of the cars so cant comment on your deal. Could you not have sent it back to BCA rather than spending this much money on it? Do you do MOT check of the cars you buy to see what faults they had in past? Thanks for your help till now. Did get better response on facebook than Auto trader.

No BCA sometimes have a warranty but even then only for major faults. MOTs do not include faults that haven't occurred yet... and cannot be relied upon for indications of the reliability of any car.

I rarely part exchange but it was a mice example really, just the mileage let it down. BCA have different check lists (essential and assured) and the Jag came with the essential checklist - meaning you can't claim after the cars left the unit. Appreciate the feedback 👍
