I've ripped out everything including wainscotting and putting in all different trim. Doors, windows, baseboard, wainscotting, and crown. All because Richard made me think I could do it.
Dis the same thing, spent a few thou in tools, built my own tool shed and them began doing the baseboards around the house, got more tools and replace all the tile painted the whole interior and then redid all the crown moulding and moulding around every vent around the house... all in four months just in time for the new baby arrival, need to mention that all the trim and material i got at cost since im a gm for a lumber dealer
Greetings from Washington state. Perhaps I missed an announcement on your part, Richard, but I'm wondering why we haven't heard from you in so many weeks. I hope you and your family are OK. Please let us know what's up with you.
Great review, looks like a great tool. For those of us who can’t afford the CUTHUB, I got Dewalt Stand with Best Fence Aluminum wings and Stop Blocks for about $600. While it is not a complete work station with table saw, it sets up quicker in a smaller level area.
Man, I’ve been following for a while now but haven’t watched a video for little. Seems like you’re killing it in life. New tools beside dewalt, cut hubs and more property. I do like your tool reviews bc you know what your doing and talking about. Your level of craftsmanship is awesome.
Awesome review, I only wish this was available years ago when I did a lot of trim and cabinet work. It's an awesome set up and we'll worth the money. Over time it will pay for itself and you will wonder how you did without it.
3400$ can be spent on other things....Can get the job done just as well with other tools/equipment. No different than woodpeckers. do they look nice? yes, are they necessary? no.
I use one at work and I am not very impressed. The plastic locking lever that holds the legs broke on one almost immediately. Some jerk lost the little plastic piece that holds the saw to the stand where you clamp the table to the stand. So, lots of breakable easy to lose plastic pieces. Also, adjusting the height of the table on the chop saw is extremely difficult. You have to get on the ground and undo 4 allen set screws. Then lift your 35 pound sliding miter saw and the table level (while on the ground) and then tighten the set screws. This is only possible if you have an assistant that isn't totally stupid. I just think it is expensive to have these design flaws. You should be able to level the chop saw to the tables with something that you can screw in and out and make micro adjustments. If your table isn't set right, your blade will bind and KAPOW!!! It shouldn't be that difficult.
Seriously one of the best investments. I'm 47 and collected tools since I was your age and now have my grandfather and fathers tools as well. It's such a wonderful feeling to have the tools needed to do a job yourself. Not to mention could start your own business like he/we did!
It's not worth it brother, think about it, $3400.00, what amount of power tools could you get, how about a full western snow plow with full power angle, or Festool Kapex saw ,and Dewalt table saw with mobil stand, and Festool Router, and 22' little giant ladder, and Fein multi tool and still have about $200.00 left over, COME ON!!!
Looks like a great idea but only for finish work or sites where you can leave it in one spot till the job is done. I packup my sawbench everyday and put it in my trailer. If I had to get this out, set it up and then put it all away every day, I'd get nothing done. Still rockin my dewalt stand with 2x roller stands at the end. 12m over all sawbench length.
@@michaelmancini5773 that’s why, everyone is different. If a product is well made, easy to setup, and makes the job site look neat and professional, then my argument as a high end contractor is definitely diff then yours. I will always work faster and better with stable good quality tools. Yes, call me a snob, but hey, that’s the way I view this.
even at a 1000 would still be too much... been at a miter box my entire life as well, the 200 dollar dewalt stand works just fine. on that note, the review was educational and the company should send you the extra brackets for making this video.
15 year high-end, custom GC here and I think the dewalt stand is a total joke. Accuracy and cutoff support is almost nonexistent for pre-finished and heavy, long materials
I had a chance to use my buddies CH for a week. Top quality is an understatement rock solid and the stops were great!!! Would I purchase it? No, why not because of price, quality or workable realestate....it’s because it’s just too much. The setup and tear down at the end of the day was a bit much. I did enjoy the table saw to rip stuff that was cool. Maybe if we could leave it setup it might be a bit better.with the price of the thing no way would I leave it onsite. Is it shop quality, rock solid and beautifully made absolutely. Did the setup each day turn me off yea. Like anything if you want shop quality it takes a bit if fiddle. He loves it and I can see why. I think next I want to demo the fast cap best fence and see what’s that’s all about. Great video as always
If I was a full time finish carpenter, I'd get this in a heartbeat. As a general handyman, it's hard to justify the price versus how much I would use it. However, if I was new in the game, I would definitely invest in one.
how would you afford it if youre NEW in the game? these kinds of prices are pushing apprentices away from the industry. no new worker wants or HAS thousands to throw around
Just did total trim, jambs, casing and baseboard on 20 doors and all rooms. I also had a few alt stand before the CutHub. I could not have done any of it without the stability of the CutHub. No question. It’s paid for itself.
@jami w good for you. I apprenticed with a guy in the 70’s who could do all sorts of finish work with a hand saw free hand. He could 45s sitting up on the roof. I was never able to cut that accurately. Similarly, I worked on crown moulding with the dewalt stand and had a tough time keep 16’ nested and not torqued. It sounds like you’ve got it nailed down though. I’m proud of you!!
I work in the microchip industry installing chip manufacturing equipment. We bend Stainless Steel Tubing for exotic gas delivery systems. We build our work tables 3' high with an intermediate shelf to lay our tools on. We lay the Tubing on the table and do our measurements and markings. We cut it to length and use a facing tool that perfectly squares the end for welding alignment. With our other tools stored on the shelf we pick up our benders and manipulate the Tubing into the design. The tools aren't in the way on the shelf below the table top.
I put a hold on my mothers custom prosthetic leg for now until I use the cut hub on enough jobs to buy her a new one. A peg leg IS fortunately something you can make out of wood.
I can't believe you spent that kind of money on a saw stand... That said, I did spend $5k on a road bike this summer. Different strokes for different folks I suppose!
Such a great bit of gear. In the workshop it’s pretty easy to make a mitre saw setup but on-site it’s really hard get something that gives you all the features you need. The mitre saw stands available here in the uk are terrible. This is awesome and as you said you stand at it a lot. It’s the office.
Everyone looking for a hoodie or zip up, be patient! I was nervous too so I called the guy at success print shop. Everything is jammed up between the covid and the holidays. I just got mine today. Richard! Hope all is well, looking forward to the next video
Value is in the eye of the user. I just purchased some festool quick clamps (and a bunch of tools over the weekend and last week in the sales). Just a guy who has always had a desire to build and create. Not a carpenter by profession. Did I get ripped off? Always are cheaper options but if it works for you and the money is available to do it and your happy then it worked as was a good purchase.
I love your humor! But, I think your wife had a different idea about what you were talking about when you kept saying Cut Hubby.... I would sleep lightly tonight!
I love watching reviews about things I'll never have the need for. Although, we're planning on buying a new house in the next year and doing all the trim myself so maybe...
Hey buddy, I’m a wood flooring contractor un San Diego Ca , I appreciate you sharing all that invaluable information on tools and trade! I would like to switch to cordless on some of my tools specially my miter saw but now that I work with the DeWalt dust extractor/vacuum I can’t go back . How did you set up your cordless saw with the dust extractor?! I believe I heard in one of your videos that you have a “pedal” please share..
I really I love your channel. I enjoy learning new tricks from you. But one thing bothers me as they watch you use your miter saw. I personally hate clean up and walking over the little cut pieces on the ground after I've made various cuts. I use a bucket to throw the scraps in so I don't have to handle them twice , clean-up is easy, no more stepping on pieces. I love your Channel , great job.
Looks like you could put a dewalt planer on the center for an infeed out feed for rough cut lumber. Now a track saw system using the stop to stright line rip a rough edge. Or even rout it.
On my Dewalt battery table saw I sometimes use a feather board (mine is a plastic Kreg one) just in front of the blade for long stock that I am ripping. Note: Never ever put a feather board in line or in front of a table saw blade.
Love your videos, your humor, and your expertise. I am a newbie at all of it. Could you tell me what you use for a stud finder...I bought a cheap one and got what I paid for...any suggestions? Keep up the good work! Wish I could hire you as your work is Primo.
Completely not related to this video, but I’m installing shiplap in my own house and having issues getting tight around trim that’s not 100% level. House has settled I suppose and things are far from squared and perfect. Can you maybe do a video on a full shiplap install and what you do around these problems???? Love your stuff man and learned a lot... thank you either way!
Richard. I just got my hoodie and T-shirt and WOW. I feel like and first class craftsman. 👍😜. No, jokes aside, they are awesome and I’m glad to be able to help support you in this way. I’ve been at this type industry all my life beginning at age 6 and I’m 56 now. However, I’m still learning and you’re one of the best RU-vid information providers for our line of work. Your wittiness and overall good ole boy candor is to be admired. Wishing you and your family the best this new year and looking forward to many more awesome instructional videos coming soon. Take care. Don’t ever stop what you are doing. You’re a blessing to all of us. 😉
I bought a Dewaukee hoodie. Why? Because its a nice idea to have one to wear to Home Depot and to support this guy for sharing all of this great information on the carpentry trade. I sincerely appreciate ALL of these videos. THANK YOU!!!
hey bro I never comment but I just want to check in - hoping your ok been a while since you've posted something. i can't express how much you and Spencer Lewis have helped me. I know I'm learning the 'right' way. all the best to you and yours in the year ahead.
Awesome review Richard I wish I needed this as bad as you do, but I don't do as much carpentry as you, but I can see how that bench would pay for itself in no time
Since they’re the only game in town, for the extent of their features, they can pretty much charge anything they want. They seem nice, but as a machinist and engineer, I don’t see $3400 ($1400-$1500 seems fair, considering the machined leg supports). Competition and volume will lower the price in the future I’m sure. But if it gets the job done efficiently $3400 is well worth the $ regardless of value.
It still seems overpriced to me, before someone says quality, all aluminum. I spent $3600 on an aluminum brake that has way more moving parts/weight and the cut off tools themselves. I guess them being the only real straight out of the box miter saw wings justifies the price. I could see spending $1000-1500 for 2 stands and a mounting plate.
great demo presentation, as usual! Not sure what they were thinking, not giving you a prototype to test out in the field a yr ago while they finished product development... You're literally the perfect spokesperson. Hope they at least give u the extra extensions for free, you're prob gonna end up selling more Cut-Hubs for them than anyone else, without even trying! Thanks for the vid & good luck on the property✌
Looks pretty awesome, but I am wondering how flat are those 2x12’s. Most lumber today is cupped, twisted, bowed etc. Also, how wide of a board can you rip with that setup before it’s long enough to hit the end of the miter saw. In other words, can you rip a little off a long 1x12 without hitting the fence of the miter saw ? If you have more than 8 ft I guess sheet goods are no problem. Like your videos, keep up the good work
@@wickedwoodgaming1486 well I already own the $500.00 Dewalt and I have no complaints other than it’s heavy as hell and awkward to carry. I think I would have to draw the line at some point but the Cut Hub would be a great work platform and I’d definitely purchase it if I was earning my living from that type of work.
there are some amazing feature in this stand , i love that stop and how easy it glides. but i dont think its perfect. i dont like the way the saw attaches, it looks delicate and easily broken in the back of a van. same goes for the arms on those cool table wings. this really seems to me that they didnt do enough on site testing with guys on the ground . a few small adjustments should be made like making the leg clips so they lock themselves without pushing the button. a router table would be great in one of those tables i see the massive benifits to this set up. but i dont see how it justifies the price. i have been planning upgrade my dewalt with similar features and will go down the 2 stand route you were going before. 2 stands is around 450 euros so if i spend 550 on upgrades i will still be below 1k . somewhere around 1500 to 1800 seems a more realistic value to put on this set up
Ya- I know some of my nicer tools force me to slowdown in setup/packup. It would be fine if i scheduled all my own jobs but when your rushing or it’s a hella late night/ 18 hour day I really resent having to neatly pack up my ‘good tools’ when I desperately want to yeet them straight in the trailer and gtfo. But if I break my domino or bend a track saw track I’d hate myself-
I think the nicer the tool the more bomb proof it should be- why the hell is my pack out case 10x more durable than the systainer on my Bosch or festool stuff? Why is my DEWALT drill feel more robust than my partners festool at 1/4 the cost
@@charleselkins4546 IMO it is INSANELY overpriced! For $3400 you would think it was made from titanium w/ auto-level legs! Look at it like this you can buy a new M18 12" miter and M18 table saw for $1k, should the table it sits on cost 3 1/2 times as much?! Should be a $500 accessory max.. maybe the quality will be a little less but, it's an outfeed table as long as it's extruded aluminum, adjustable, and semi-flat that's all that matters! It may not come with the adjustable stops but who cares as it would prob cost less than 1/10th of the price.
The guy that taught me reminds me of you. he can do it all and is extremely precise in his work and takes it extremely serious which is why he’s so successful. He can also do a heel flip to 5 0 grind on a handrail with a skateboard. Haha
There’s just nothing there to justify $3,400. Even the raw materials wouldn’t even come close. It’s a very nice premium stand. And could probably justify a $1,000 price tag. But there’s just no way for $3,400 to make sense. No way should a stand be 5 times the cost of the saw it holds. But you do this for a living so it’s a write off for you anyway lol.
I’m a finish carpenter and cabinet maker, and I wouldn’t buy it... you can upgrade the Dewalt one. For me is like buying a car with seats that does massage
How do you like the Milwaukee 18v 12 in dual bevel miter saw vs the DEWALT flex volt? Looking at getting one so I don’t have to worry about power and am leaning a little more toward the Milwaukee. Also do you run the 12 ah or 8 ah on the Milwaukee?
I have to say, at $3400, it would be a real hard justification. Maybe $1000-$1200. If I was a customer/client and a carpenter showed up to my worksite with this, my first/initial thoughts would be this guy is making to much money off me. It's the same with contractors who have all new trucks, tools, equipment. All of that "flash" equals high investment costs and higher overhead. But hey, to each their own.
Looking into purchasing the Fastcap Best Fence Pro. To me it just seems like there was significantly more thought put into its design. It does everything this one does and more in a much easier to transport package. Oh, and it’s a 3rd the price.
I just ordered mine .... looking at the cut hub (price) made me look around at other alternatives..... it's so much cheaper I figure its gotta be miles better than what I'm using now , and not so expensive that I cant upgrade in a few yrs if I choose
I install computer chip manufacturing equipment. Some of the tools have a dozen or more stainless steel gas lines, Nitrogen, Oxygen and some very exotic other gases. We have built tubing bending tables and began building them 2' wide and 8' long with a full size shelf midway. We keep our tools on the shelf so they aren't in the way when we bend our tubing!
time is money and if that saves you time your making money and that is so worth the money. As R & R always says buy once cry once. Any updates on you flip property?
Great stand, but... Please don't lift everything once assembled. It might not bend, but that aluminium will crack at those connecting points! It is definately NOT meant to be moved in that configuration, at least single handedly at the mid-point!!!
Nice tool I know it make your day go easier , thank again for your video. Yes you got ripped off, they should have pay you for the modification and your review 😀
Damn that is definitely a nice option for miter saws to invest in looks like to me to say the least!! Especially in your case, being someone who does base and crown everyday for a living. Thanks for the review!!
