My wife and I have both had this happen. Random lady telling us "Um, i'm pretty sure we don't have anything your size here"... So I spent a ton at the yard sale across the street and walked back right in front of her to make sure she saw the full bags.
haha i have been told the same thing several times during the first 3 years in the States when i went yard sale....but on the other side for being too skinny. I did not even realize that was a body shame during that time and just thought they were trying to save my time LOL
I knew a gal that not once but TWICE asked two different women if they were pregnant. Common sense doesn’t come cheap! Or is it; Money can’t buy you classss
Thank you for eating that donut! I was once told at a garage sale, that she had some maternity clothes for sale. Hmm...I just patted my belly and said, " oh no, this is just my donut baby." Some coffee came out of her husband's nose when he heard me. She apologized, but I said, "no worries, I earned this belly by having twins and it's all right, it was worth it."
Shout out to your hubby! So supportive. Cherish him. No all husbands enjoy the hunt or hearing the details of the finds. Such a cute couple. BTW.. you could not say it but that lady charging $50 for a clothing item at a yard sale....just bonkers.
People need to look at the SOLD not the listed price on Ebay. You can list at item at whatever you want, but the only thing that matters is if it sold or not.
I think the best way to respond to that scenario is to say…”You’re right! You can get more selling your item online because you have thousands of people viewing your listing. I hope you have that many people at your neighborhood garage sale today.” Then just walk away. They will figure it out. And you just move on.
I made a video too about my bad experiences being fat-shamed at the bins by a fellow reseller. I’m so sorry for this person saying something that could hurt your feelings. ❤️
Strange, especially considering that you are tiny, she is not, and you could be buying for a daughter or anyone. I actually had the reverse happen at Layne Bryant. They were standing outside the door chasing the smaller people away by telling them this store doesn't carry their size. Apparently they felt they would lose business. I actually was shopping for family for Christmas but I decided not to give them my business at all.
Not sure how she would get you having another baby just because of the Fat and Happy Harley Davidson shirt. If the person knew anything about Harleys she would know the meaning of the shirt.
I've respected so many yard sales by not arriving early, only to see tons of people there when I show up. It's definitely the ugly side of this business. When I used to deal in vinyl it was the worst because record collectors are uncouth and antisocial to begin with. You need to make a business card for your channel. For one thing, when people ask about the GoPro, you can hand over a card. You can also leave it behind to make private picks, and best of all, when someone tries to tell you about eBay, you can say "Oh really?" then slap it down on the table like an Uno Reverse.
@@HustleatHomeMom I like the excited response, "Oh really?" whip out phone and run comps...... "yeah, just not seeing it" Then say, I guess I could take them for ___? LOL
Don't dispair, our garage sales this weekend were horrible, most were super overpriced like the $20 dollar designer jeans one you were at🤦♀️ I literally came home with a purse!!! The thrift stores were ratcheted too. It was not meant to be. There's no crying in sourcing 😂🤣
Lord. I feel like if people are going to reference EBay for prices… sell on eBay. The reason eBay gets more is because the exposure is more and it takes more time and work to list, keep tabs on, pack up and ship an item. Do the work if you want more. If not, have a yard sale and charge less. It’s not the same. She won’t sell much.
@@HustleatHomeMom I don’t think they’re really thinking about it logically. They see prices online and think they should be able to get the same at a yard sale. It’s not the same. A yard sale is expected to be cheaper to move the items fast. Some of those eBay listings sit there for months. The situation is different. They’re only thinking about the item worth only and not how it’s being sold and the worth of that. If you want the online price… list online or let it sit in an antique store. Otherwise be expected to sell for a lot less at a yard sale. That’s the convenience of getting rid of it easier and quicker.
Seriously?! How freaking rude was she. Keep the rude comments to yourself. She is luck you still bought from her. I would have left. What ever happened to “if you don’t have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all.” You had Crew only a few months before I had my son and I WISH I could look as good as you do! Also, the haul was great! Don’t beat yourself up. I am trying to start flipping and I am struggling finding good stuff. So for you to have a video like this every now and then makes me feel like I’m not alone. ❤ Keep up the amazing work! You got this! ❤❤❤
You are way nicer than me. I wouldn't have bought anything at her yard sale after the snarky comments. P.S. You look GREAT and what's more important, you seem like a genuinely beautiful person inside too 🥰
I have never made a comment on RU-vid, but I saw the title of your video. You are beautiful inside and out, but keep in mind sometimes when people have yard sales, it’s because they’re going through something very traumatic, and they project their misery. Watching your videos with you and your family always makes me happy, Try not to let people like that get under your skin, it’s totally not worth it. Some people are just miserable no matter how you look at it. Keep living your best life, you are very blessed!!
I'm confused? You're so thin!! And that's why you deserve to enjoy that donut. Not bc of some mean girl mom. You also handled yourself, as always, with such class and grace♡
You're killing me with the fat shaming stuff! Last week, I landed at a sale with a lot of originally expensive clothing for pennies on the dollar. The lady saw me coming up her driveway and yelled out, "Oh, I have a LOT of clothes that will fit YOU!!!!!" She proceeded to try to hand sell me at least twenty pieces, each one three sizes too big for me. I kept waiting for her to say she'd just lost 150 pounds and that her loss was MY gain, hahaha. I finally tried on one jacket just to prove a point. She said, "Hmmm. That is way too big for you.....". I bought one item that was meant to be baggy and cost $1, when she loudly proclaimed that she'd paid $68 for it and never got a chance to wear it BECAUSE SHE'S SO SKINNY NOW. I left feeling utterly insulted and also a little bit richer, since I can sell her oversized piece and make $30 or so........
I'm 52 and a lady asked me when I was due at a garage sale recently...wasn't sure how to feel. Wow she thinks I'm young enough to have a baby OR Wow I am really fat!!!! 'I told her it wasn't a baby belly it was my menopause belly! That shut her up!! hahahaha Ashley you look AMAZING, that woman was just plain rude. I'm so glad you didn't give her anymore of your money.
FYI... Fat & Happy is a phrase for Harley's "Fat Boy" motorcycle model if you didn't know. IMHO, I don't think she meant anything negative about her "skinny butt" comment, but I'm a guy so I internalize things differently. Pray on it, forgive her, and move on. Not every haul can be epic, but you did get some descent stuff. You are awesome!
Thank you for all your useful information Ashley! I opened an eBay account and starting posting and selling. So far so good. I’ve been watching your videos on what brands to look for and it has really helped. When I’m out looking for items I channel my inner Ashley to point me in the right direction on what to buy. Thanks again!
been watching you for a couple years and this is the first video ever that I have seen that you have only done ok. Usually you start out like "Guys, if I can pick $10,000 in inventory, I will get chic fil A!" and you literally always do
I cracks me up people have yard sales and charge prices that they think they can sell for a lot of money because they supposedly looked it up online. There crazy. I know Goodwill is hurting now because they are charging 10 to 15 dollars for items that are clearly not worth the money. So all of the people and goodwill get stuck with mdse. When I have a yard sale it is to get rid of stuff and make a little cash for my time and effort. Not to get rich....
Where was the fat shaming comment? You aren't fat. By someone saying a top/shirt might not fit you doesn't necessarily mean someone is doing that to you, does it? I mean, a 5' 100 lb. woman isn't going to wear the same size as a 5'6" 120 lb. woman. You look like an ideal size to me. Anyway, i was curious what they actually said but by skimming through the video I couldn't find it. What is the time where it was?
I can't figure out why someone would be so focused on you and not the content....but I mind my business as a general rule. You look fabulous and your husband is a doll face 😂
Hey, I'm Lissie from coastal NC. I've learned a lot through your commentary explaining brands, what's hot what's not. Here's an issue I'm running into especially with athletic wear where the name is not printed OR the label has been cut out 😠. I'm new at this and do not recognize a lot of logos. An item feels and looks like a quality piece but I have no idea who made it. Is there a website that I can go to, fairly quickly to match the logo with a brand name? Keep up the awesome videos! Thanks.
When they have outrageous prices and tell Me I can sell them on ebay for.. xx$, I pull out my phone and say you can list them for what you want but they SOLD for x$$, they are blown away, with the Sold page... 💞
I was fat shamed too at my thrift store. She was creeping on my pile and I politely said.. ooo sorry that’s mine.. I left it over there.. she was like ain’t nobody want your stuff. I’m a size 6-8. Your stuff wouldn’t fit me. People suck. I also hate when yard sale sellers say stupid shit like that. Ok woman then sell it on eBay if you can get more. 🙄
Unbelievable. I wonder what that woman’s definition of “skinny” or “in shape” is if she made that comment about you! People really need to learn to keep their thoughts to themselves. Glad to see it didn’t get to you though since you went to eat out right after haha!
Fat and happy 😂😂😂💀 also TJ’s video bombs are hilarious. Especially when he peeks around the screenshot share and doesn’t know it. Tell him to capitalize on that!
I have given my number as I pull ebay solds and then tell them to call me when they don’t sell because I’d give them more than consignment would 😆 hasn’t worked yet but someday maybe it will. 🤷🏼♀️
I found a pair of Citizens of Humanity shorts for $10 brand new with tag and I remember "Ashley said this is a good brand!" They sold yesterday for $32!
That lady was a clown.!!! Your quiet revenge is when she's dragging all that ridiculous priced stuff BACK into her home. You are a beautiful woman...that was jealousy she exhibited.
Just Subscribed, I like your channel a bit more than most RU-vidrs, because we find out the prices to everything at the end and I learn a bit more about apparel. So I'll be watching more of your videos. I've been hosting garage sales since I was 11 years old. I could sell someone a paper clip if I had to.
The chance of someone coming to your sale and being the same size as you. THEN liking your items. THEN willing to pay $20 each. Yeah good luck girl. She had to drag all that overpriced stuff right back in the house.
We love you! Looking awesome as usual. Off comments always say a lot more about them than they do you. But it did remind me at a Goodwill about 3 years ago, some weird lady came up to my cart as I was shopping and just started going through it!? I didn't notice at first, but then she held up a small NIKE jacket windbreaker and asked..."hey can I have this? I KNOW it WON'T fit you!!" and she gave a little snort. I turned looking at her in amazement. "No...put it back. This is MY cart what are you doing? Leave me alone." I gave her a mean look, to show I meant business. She walked off, but determined Yep, started followed me bugging me...kept insisting it would fit her and why did I need it? I ignored, didn't answer but finally went to store manager to complain, but they shrugged and did nothing. So unfortunately, I just checked out. Glad that does not happen very often. Makes you wonder about people. Wow that one woman was sure proud of her stuff huh? You might have been her only paying customer. I bet most just walked up and left quickly. Thanks for taking us on your journey. It makes the finds all the sweeter when they do come.
How is that possible you look like a model you sure? They tried that i wesr glasses i can loan them GOD LOVES us all AS HIS HOLINESS MADE us be blessed SHALOM
Just remember, God doesn't make mistakes, and you are truly a blessing. People are way too focused on the outside, instead of the kindness that radiates from you. I've always been taller than everyone and catch a lot of rude remarks about that. Your videos are very helpful and I'm sure many have moved on to making a living because of your time and effort. Creme filled maple bars are the best mood lifters. Blessings
Love, love your shopping videos. Yard sales are my faves but know the season is coming to an end. So shop videos at GW's would be great. You look amazing and she probably did not realize how it sounded. My GW has a new GM and she seems to know her stuff. Now they are pricing Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors and brands similar at $7.99 without tags and if new with tags they start at $9.99 & up. The one Asst Mgr really likes me so yesterday when I found a NWT Social Occasions beautiful beaded dress / jacket she took $5 off and sold to me for $19.99. It was just too hard for me to pay $24.99 LOL... Their hard goods start at $3.99 which for a little item is out of control. They need to bundle items...
“You can go online and sell those for $100 easily” so then do it…? The comment about “knowing someone tiny” was a deliberate jab and being a nasty human. No reason though because you ARE thin. So I don’t get it. Imagine if I was looking at those jeans at 200 lbs and she said that to me lmao I’d laugh. People can look for other people at yard sales. Don’t make comments!
I went to an estate sale up in Olympus Cove once. The daughter of the woman who had died looked at me and said ‘I don’t think she owned anything that would fit you.’ Is my money green? Then why I’m buying has zero to do with you. The daughter seemed to think since everything was ‘old’ it was worth a ton of money. I didn’t see anyone walk out with anything purchased. I grabbed a vintage fake fur that the woman thought was garbage because it was ‘fake!’ Got it for five. Flipped for over $100 to a buyer in New York City. I still remember the details because the daughter was just so awful.
I must've missed it? Who/when did someone call you fat? Or make a pregnancy comment? Starting to wonder if there's something wrong w my phone. Or me. Lol.
I figure the people at the first yard sale kinda know their values, but how much was the Shogun Warriors Sky Arrow and the vintage Star Wars cardbacks??
Don't garage sale people know the object is to get rid of their stuff? As soon as I pick up one or two grossly overpriced things at a garage sale I already know how everything is going to be priced. Adios peeps! Kudos to you for trying to make a deal with them.
Oh my goodness! I can't believe the things people say! It's so strange though, I'm 8 months pregnant right now and literally *no* strangers have said anything to me about being pregnant yet! Oh man... It's a crazy world. And you look absolutely gorgeous, as always!
I think she pulled the old bait & switch. She advertised all those good clothes so lots of people would come to her garage sale. And then “someone came yesterday and bought everything”. Yeah right!
@Hustle at Home Mom She was obviously just jealous how gorgeous and fit you are, and that she probably won't fit those things again. She was rude on purpose, and felt better tearing down someone else. You are as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside, and you look amazing.
That is SO frustrating when someone goes out of their way to say "Absolutely no early birds" and you are trying to be respectful of their wishes only to find they let people in early to shop anyway. I'm too nice to do that I guess. You earned that donut, you are stunning and shame on anyone that makes a comment otherwise.
Ummmm, me thinks she's gonna be haulin' all of that over priced stuff right back into her house! I can't stand when people say, "Its selling for such and such on eBay" - You found some really nice things Ashley, and the donut treat as too funny!!
ASHLEY YOU HANDLED THAT BACKHANDED COMMENT WITH CLASS, YOU LOOK LIKE A MILLION BUCKS ON HER BEST DAY!!! SO KEEP IT PUSHING AND YESSS REWARDS YOURSELF WITH A DONUT IM JOINING YOU HEY LETS ALL TOAST TO ASHLEY!!!
Always love your videos! Ignore the snide comments, they are a reflection of how that person feels about themself and not you. You are beautiful and kind! You are admired by so many people. 🥰
