G'day, everyone! Today, I've got a chatty plant chores video for you where I do some chores involving treating root rot in my Philodendron Paraíso Verde, potting up Monstera deliciosa & Monstera siltepecana propagations, and Alocasia baginda (Dragon scale).

Every time I buy an Alocasia I tend to repot them. One I don’t trust soil the soil and they are airy enough. But every time I do. My Alocasia’s always will look stressed and sad

My recipe for success with Alocasia is slotted orchid pots to promote airflow, Pon again to promote airflow, I use a small amount of Gold Leaf liquid fertilizer(1ml/1l water) with every watering and I keep things in a water resevoir so the moisture can wick up through the rocks. I have never lost an alocasia this way.

I put my alocasia in very ordinary soil without any perlite or so and put them on my highest and most unapproachable shelf to forget them at every watering 😅 but ja I just water them when the soil is completely dry . And they are standing in low indirect light

Damn that sucks. Wishing it a full recovery. Definitely needs a chunkier mix and you shouldn’t have any root rot issues later. All of my paraiso verdes get tons of water and they love it. It’s the one philodendron that I’m not worried about getting too much watering. Wish I could gift you some cuttings. Peace love and plant power! ❤️

Hi! So good to see a fellow Aussie on a journey with Leca / Semi Hydro :) i only started this year and have learnt the hard way but have learnt good lessons. My fave genus is Alocasia and have them in Aroid, Leca or MAB and it really depends on their location, how thick their roots are or how mature/baby they are!

Love your videos. You let soil go down drain? And I like dry soil. Lol. And if you put pothos in with any plant,. Pothos have a natural rooting harmone

SELF-WATERING pts system for alocasia…….it work amazing! All mine are set up that way and my black velvet has 9 beautiful big leaves! That’s my trick! Good luck

How successful do you find transfering to semi hydro directly from soil? I've had some rot issues before so I usually soak the roots for about a week in just water so I can see which ones won't make it and to absolutely get off all the soil which I can't seem to get off by just rinsing

Do you use anything to treat root rot to keep it from spreading? I use diluted hydrogen peroxide.
