The rolling chassis alone is worth 3k if not simply for the reason the long engine bay will fit all sorts of donor motors. Recently threw a rod and cracked the block on the cleanest of my E92s and plan to retrofit it with an N62 I rebuilt after N54 swapping my E63 6 series. This generation of Bimmers in my opinion is the most aesthetically pleasing.
@@HTXatLarge Like a glove. Engine bay is basically identical to the 5 series (which was offered with an N54 as the 535) I was basically able to use off the shelf parts as far as mounting is concerned. The stock 6hp trans will mate up to the N54 and talk fine with the MSD80 ECU after a basic flash and sits further back so there's plenty of room up front for a larger front mount intercooler. With the carbon roof swap and after market hood the car is lighter than a standard 335i while being less prone to heat soak...it's like a match made in heaven.

@@HTXatLarge Lucky for you clean coupes are all over the place with bad valve stem seals (basically totals the car). You can easily get into one for less than 3k all day long if all you want is the chassis. If you hit the mirror from the bottom at the hinge it turns on with some wd40 or other type of lunricating fluid , and function the mirror back and fourth a few times, you will be able to fix that twitchy driver side mirror
This is the way to buy em! I bought mine for $1500 and I'm dailying it now and it's FBO with new 17T turbos. Rockin!! But why wouldn't you ask the seller when you're buying the car when and what the last oil change was? Or was this bought at an auction? If that's the case I understand but if not......etc.
I bought a 3400 dollar 535i and it needs turbos. Dreaded 30ff shadow code but honestly still a fun car to drive. Can't wait to build it and get real boost going thru this n54. 😁
2 years ago i bought a clean title well optioned sport AT '08 e90 with 154k that runs and had some recent maintenance with receipts for $4k. Then i hit a giant pothole and ingested the belt. Now its just sitting awaiting upgrades.
buy a good machined crank seal guard like the flat one from vtt, 335is engine mounts and URO aluminum power steering pulley from rockauto to help prevent that next time. also make sure ur belt tensioner is proper or it will fly off again anyways
Nice! I have a 2010 E92 N54 that I am in the process of rebuilding. Index 12 injectors, rod bearings, and yes; your FMIC are next. Just did all of the gaskets, oil pan, new intake manifold, solenoids, etc. Getting there in stages. Your content is a HUGE help sir. Also, are you running your own performance shop with your buddy now?

@@RodriguezSteve checked the battery. Bought a brand new h8. No start after registry. Came back the next day, battery was completely drained. I’m in the process of removing the intake manifold for blasting and to replace the VC. I’ll check im almost sure the alternator is bad and it killed both my starter and battery. Checked grounds as well. All are in tact
@@RodriguezSteve I have not. Reason being that when I bought the battery, it drained by day 2. To me that seems to be more of an issue involving power rather than fuel wouldn’t you think?
2007 did not come from the factory with an oil cooler. BMW offered a retrofit later on for 2007’s. 2008 and later the N54’s came from the factory with it
I have a sport model e92 too and it didnt come with a oil cooler either. I found out that since its a 07 they didnt come with them unless it was a manual. They were standard in 08+ cars.

I do have one guess I live in a colder climate area and can't leave it in as It takes forever to get to temp otherwise and oil doesn't warm up quite enough ive been looking at doing a mosselman thermostat or something that opens alot earlier and get another cooler in there hoping to never see her hit 250 again😂
Makes me sad seeing E90/92 so beat up, especially as they get older and more affordable. I have been seeing the same local trend with S2000s. The ones that are selling for 20k are beat, and then whoever buys the 20k "versions" just beat them up ever more! 😒😞
my index 9's started to crap out and fcp was sold out of remans so i went to Pfaff bmw in toronto to get a price on 12's just to see. $930 cdn a piece. i ended up waiting for the remans to come back in stock 😂 why are these things so expensive now even tho they used to be like $150 US brand new?

Just had vtt stage 2 turbos put in, now i have this huge rattle on decel and under light throttle (daily driving). Goes away underboost, so assuming its the wastegates? Any advice will help!
