The Doctor/Donna miming scene was completely improvised by Catherine Tate. The script just said 'Donna Mimes'. She being a cracking comedian added her own flair to that moment. I heard her say that at a convention.

The worst part of the episode: Rose didn't stick around to give Sylvia her keys. How inconsiderate. 1/10

The journalist woman had more character development in one episode than Yaz, Ryan, and Graham had in two seasons.

I’ve almost forgotten what a good episode of Doctor Who looks like.

Fun fact: the journalist character was actually Russell T Davies' originally planned companion "penny" for series four. However, they discovered Catherine Tate was interested in coming back for the series so she became the companion but he left penny in the episode anyway as a reference to what could have been!

_When you see a Doctor Who companion receive actual character development._ *Me:* It's been 84 years...

This looks like a completely different show to series 12

One of the best series openers. Fight me. Also, harry your voice sounds up beat. Good to see you got Chibnall out your system

It also makes story sense that Cribbins filled that role, because The Doctor running into him by chance ties into the whole Doctor-Donna fate stuff orchestrated by Dalek Caan

"Spyfall is the first Doctor Who spy episode" Partners in Crime: "Let me introduce myself"

This series is the most consistent in my opinion, there’s only 2 episodes that are below an 8/10 here for me (Fires of Pompeii, and the Doctor’s Daughter.) and even then I think both of those episodes are great.

Can't wait until you tackle Turn Left, great episode actually, really displays what kind of character Donna is.

The banter between Donna and the Doctor in this episode is some of the best in the show

Donna was actually my favourite companion; and the one I'd argue was the 'Best' of the New Who companions. And the strange thing is, I dont actually like Catherine Tate. So I even remember wanting to hate Donna, and finding that I just couldn't. Funny what good writing and character development can do.

9:23 Had Catherine Tate been too busy to revive the role of Donna, *Russell would have written a companion called Penny!* It wouldn't have been the same actress tho. Russell has said that the Doctor's just getting over Rose and "then wham! Both hearts!" Personally, I'm thankful we didn't get another 10/companion romance.

It's so refreshing to see him liking a Doctor Who episode :)

This episide was filmed at my grandfather's companys office building in Cardiff known as picture at the time and my mother is the dark haired lady in dark blue at 3.34 It's so weird everytime I see this episode as both my mum and uncle are extras in the episode. My grandad pulled some strings and got David's Autograph on a Adipose questionnaire prop ^_^

Funnily enough I watched this episode last night - gotta say, despite the weirdness of the idea overall, this episode was SO MUCH fun and I absolutely love the focus on character development.

Every time I think of Dr. Who, THIS episode is the first to come to mind.

Remember watching this episode with my dad and us having a great laugh and wonderful time. He passed now, but my memories with him just make this episode even more enjoyable for me.

I honestly think the miming sequence is one of the best scene in the show. No matter how many times I watch it, it STILL cracks me up

I love when the taxi driver pulls over to ask Donna where stacey is and you see an ATMOS sticker on his car... great use of foreshadowing!

Review Torchwood? Maybe just children of Earth considering that may be one of the greatest things to come out of doctor who. Bt weird that Peter Capaldi is in it though (not as the doctor) .

I love this episode, especially the bit where Donna and the Doctor see each other for the first time through the windows and have an extended mime conversation until Ms Foster says “are we interrupting?” (or words to that effect). And the scene where the Doctor says he wants a mate, and Donna says “you’re not mating with me sonny Jim!” Given that later in the series the Doctor says that something kept bringing him back to Donna, and that he’d met Wilf before, could Wilf be related to Cribbins character from the Peter Cushing Doctor Who movie? I know they’re not exactly canon as far as Cushing being an official Doctor, but... 5:56 “...played the role from here to the end of time” I hope that’s a sentence that never, ever gets used to describe Jodie Whitaker...

Okay, I am so glad you're going to this series. Showing Donna go from the basic secretary to someone who wants to be better was such a great idea. Showing instead of telling. Isn't that an interesting concept, Chibnall? The villain was so good, so sleek and such a boss that, no shame for admitting, I got a sonic pen toy. Her death was a bit of a letdown because she was a great first villain for the series. I do love how, with the adipose, it wasn't them being at fault. They're babies. It's the villain predacating on societal insecurities and using them like Zebu. Donna was a companion Tennant needed. She knew what she was getting into and the chemistry was so good, Tennant and Tate worked together on multiple projects afterward. Super-Temp to the rescue. Love that bit in the Sontaran Strategym.. a two parter which has an ending that makes the sacrifice in Timeless Children look even more drawn out. In terms of companions, Donna is my favourite in New Who, followed by Rose then Bill, Amy and Jack.

Even without seeing this episode for about 7(?) years, this episode made such an impact, I can still hear the noise of that spaceship. Fantastic stuff.

I really liked how they touched on the Doctor's loneliness. It's evident, but it's not so on the nose obvious that the Doctor is lonely. Compare this to Can You Hear Me, where the Doctor literally points out lonely she is, talking to herself and then mentioning how she is talking to herself. It was so unnecessary to be TOLD the Doctor is lonely, especially when in this episode it is perfectly shown not told.

OH THANK GOD HE IS FINALLY REVIEWING THE BEST SERIES OF DOCTOR WHO!!!!

I have not watched yet, but I will, but also - no it does not suck because the window scene with Donna and the Doctor is 24k gold and lots of it. 🦊😂🎥🖖🏼

And so begins the best series of Doctor Who. Hands down. The only one I'm not keen on is the Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, and even that's good.

Donna is my favorite companion by far, the way her and the doctor play off of each other, their banter, the way she always acts at his level and so he treats her as such, it’s just brilliant

Your Doctor Who series is what's keeping me going man

been waiting a long time for you to review season as I adore Donna. The upbeat tone to your voice is so good to hear after this last series

series 4 is just a wow series makes you just shout wow after each episode

My eyes water and the biggest grin appears on my face every time I see that scene with Wilf absolutely overcome with joy at watching Donna fly off with the Doctor in the TARDIS and just screaming "GO ON!! GIT OUT THEH!!"

Recently on a re-watch I noticed the ATMOS signs on the cars, like the Taxi that Stacy gets, which is quite nice to see that it has spread quickly.

For me, Series 4 is hands down the greatest series of Doctor Who in its history. There isn’t a single weak episode in the show and its sheer quality reinforces every negative thing about the modern series. Remove every agenda and ulterior motives with a show and use this series as the basis on how to write this show! Every minute of it is worth watching and Harry, I defy you to give any episode in Series 4 any lower than a 7/10

Series 4 is the best season of New Who

This and eleventh hour are probably my favourite season openers.

This season has almost all of my favourite episodes in it over the entire run of this show.

All I can say for the Doctor and Donna waiting all day for some after hours sleuthing is that the Doctor was hacking into that terminal he used to stop full parthenogenesis, and Donna might raise suspicion strolling in ten minutes from closing time. However, I hope Donna had a book or had RU-vid access on her phone to watch Harry's Haunted House reviews to pass the time. Great video as usual :)

I know this episode is far from the best, but it's still one of my favourites and most rewatched as a kid, it's just such a really good time. Great review as always!

So far? omg Sarah Lancashire in this episode! Almost nobody talks about Happy Valley on yt, which is crazy considering what a great bit of telly it is.

Christ its so refreshing watching you review a good episode of who, I forgot just how much I missed tennent

PLEASE review silence in the library. It was such an amazing episode, it blew my mind when I was a kid, and its the first time we meet River. Aside all that, this season was my absolute favourite. I think it has something to do with nostalgia, but after Tennant finished, I honestly could not stick with Doctor who anymore. Did the writers change or something, I'm not 100% sure? It just felt like they revamped the entire series to this ridiculous modernised show with an explosive budget, which is good because they needed to entice new audiences obviously, but I just couldn't enjoy it as much.

Amazing transition

Nobody would've been hurt and millions of people could've enjoyed longer healthier lives without the Doctor and Donnas' nonsensical intervention in a plan that obviously benefits everyone; even Chinball hasn't inadvertently made outright villains of the protagonists like this, and I really wonder why such a fundamental flaw in such a popular episode never seems to come up.

Wilf is a literal god. Donna and The Doctor is the funniest thing in the universe. The fact that the Christmas special links up with this makes me really happy and I wish Doctor Who would do something like it again.

They dropped the matron because as the Doctor said doing what she did the adipos parents could be charged with committing a serious crime in the eyes of the Shadow Proclamation therefore getting rid of the Matron was a way of covering their tracks
