Either way To get Pagie to admit he nicked a song here and thier never. Sued for that. Ritchie very open where he nicked songs. Both great and jealous of each other. They all are.

Nico and Jimmy Page “The Last Mile” (1965) - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HBr9_Mh4Kwo.htmlsi=Y6MgCJzuC7alnqKz. Years before German-born singer Nico ever ran into Andy Warhol and joined up with the Velvet Underground, she was just another model-actress struggling to jumpstart a career in music. After running into Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones in 1965, she was handed off to Andrew Loog Oldham, who agreed to sign her to a short-term deal with Immediate Records. Oldham teamed her with in-house producer Jimmy Page, who co-wrote this song with Oldham to serve as the B-side to single "The Last Mile." Featuring Page's acoustic guitar alone, the song is really interesting!

Both in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and both part of 2 of the three greatest hard rock/metal bands of all time. Both two of the greatest guitarists of all time. Both played with Big Jim Sullivan. Both played in Neil Christian & The Crusaders and Lord Sutch. Both did sessions for Joe Meek. Both worked with David Coverdale. I like Blackmore better, but respect Page (who is in my top 10).

Some of the session work Jimmy played on was really surprising... and diverse: The Manish Boys' (a very early David Bowie band, when he was still called Davey Jones) "I Pity the Fool", The Kinks "I'm a Lover not a Fighter" (mentioned in the video, as was The Rolling Stones' "Heart of Stone" demo and The Who's "I Can't Explain"), Joe Cocker's "A Little Help From my Friends" (The song and 5 tracks off the album meaning that Page had already secured a number 1 hit in the UK, with the album certified gold in the US before Led Zeppelin were formed) Them - who were fronted by Van Morrison - had a single called "Here Comes the Night", Donovan's album "Sunshine Superman" saw Page play on 5 tracks including the eponymous one, "Teen Angel", "The Trip", "Hurdy Gurdy Man" and, probably most famous, "Season of the Witch". Very varied songs and doing session work, no doubt, helped him try a lot of genres that would materialise in Led Zeppelin (you can see the importance of Page playing with Donovan, particularly with the Led Zeppelin 4 album and Houses of the Holy which had some great Folky songs). Playing with all these different bands, seeing their process of playing together and writing/composing together would have been absolutely imperative on a man who was to go to lead arguably the best rock and roll band of all time. What I found strange or at least surprising, to me anyway, was that Page also played on Petula Clarke's "Downtown", and Shirley Basset's "Goldfinger". 2 Songs I definitely would never have imagined Page was anywhere near. I'm not sure. I know they worked together a lot. They worked on loads of sessions together and seperately. So they ran into each other somewhere. @@raoulduke344

Thank you your research very well done. Ritchie and Jimmy hate each other. Why? Both are jealous of each other. Lets face it. I was a professional musician for years. Guitarists are jealous of each other. It's just the way they are. Bass and drumers coolest guys you will ever meet. Keyboards are usally the real musicians read and write music. Cool dudes to. Have nothing to prove. Lead singers are posers we accept that. Thats thier job as a front man. Thats been in every band I was ever in. Any other bands I've knew of. Its always the guitarist lol.

I dunno...there were guys in London at the time that were decades ahead, at least chops-wise, people like Terry Smith who knocked Mclaughlin off the Melody Maker top spot and who had chops like modern metal guitarists, but who never became common celebrities outside the music industry

Jimmy Page isn't on Hurdy Gurdy Man- he wasn't around when it was recorded- he has said this in print. Go to Donovan Hurdy Gury Man Song Facts for the early quote. Sorry. For years many people thought that. His playing has been the topic of legend or controversy. Don't even get me started on the Kinks. He did play rhythm guitar on YOU REALLY GOT ME UK LP....

Check out the FAMILY DOGG A Way Of Life LP 1969 ( Pagey Jonesey and Bonzo not collectively) that producer Steve Rowland had used the band - Zep that is on Three Week Hero LP- hence released prior to Zeps debut LP

Big Jim Sullivan was angry with Jimmy Page because Jimmy was telling everybody he played lead on "The Crying Game". And BJS claimed to play on almost everything. He played on a lot of things but NOT everything !

Jimmy said that he played guitar on it. He didn't go into detail and he didn't have to. But he played lead on 'My Baby Left Me'. It was an awesome rocking solo and Big Jim loved it.

Besides Ritchie didn't ask Jimmy if Jimmy played lead on 'The Crying Game'. He asked, "Did you play guitar on that record?" And Jimmy replied, "Yes"

@@karsguitarchannel6088 I remember an interview with big Jim and he said that because he and Page were getting so much work and ending up on the same gigs they decided it was more productive for them to split the playing with big Jim saying he took on most of the acoustic stuff and Page doing most of the rock and roll stuff, he never had a bad word for Jimmy and was a frequent visitor to Led Zep's LA hotel parties.

Jimmy Page admitted a while ago that when he didn't know what chords to play during a session, he would simply turn down the volume.

@13JDOG666 9 месяцев назад
@karsguitarchannel6088 Yeah apparently they didn't care too much about the ability to read music back then as long as you could play, improvise, and had a good ear to pick up the songs quickly. That's how good he was. He began teaching himself in order to not only become a better musician but to ensure himself more studio work, as well as make more money. The credentials to be a studio musician have somewhat increased since then.

@@13JDOG666 Yes Jimmy Page explained that back in those days it was a big room and while recording he played with big bands (they probably had one or two mics in the room) and so nobody would notice or hear that he played with the sound off.
