How did Peter, James & John know who Moses & Elijah were on the mount of transfiguration?

Because Moses introduced the law to the Hebrews, he was symbolically associated with the law. Moses "represents" the law, and the law cannot carry us into spiritual maturity (the promised land). No one is justified by the law. Symbolically, Joshua ("Yeshua") had to be the one to lead the people, just as Jesus ("Yeshua") leads each of us into spiritual maturity. I realize that this is a spiritual look at the event. That is, the Bible doesn't TEACH that Moses symbolized the law, but God does work through symbols. It just goes to show how perfect God's word is. It could not have been written by people. We don't have that kind of insight. I know this because I taught college-level literature for 25 years.

Makes me think of three things seemingly related, in my opinion. The dispute of Moses's body, the bones of Elisha, and Paul drenched w/ the Spirit that clothing was taken for healing that touched him. Why an annointing after death and away from the body?

Moses did not die. He was translated do that he could give his priesthood keys to Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. He needed to have a physical body to do so.
