This year I have started purchasing more Schecters for my guitar shop. I have been blown away by the fit and finish of these guitars and you are really getting your moneys worth. The PT series are super cool!
Same. I just got the cr6 and I prefer it over my Ibanez prestige now. I put fishman moderns in it and all of my friends can't believe I paid 700 for it lol
@@chitkasametananankul2896 Yeap, dont get me wrong, I love my fender, my ibanez and all that prestige crap. But with schecter korea and up, i dont feel a lot of difference.I mean, it competes with my $2000 guitars. I got other cheap guitars and they cannot compete with the expensive ones without custom modifications. Its just a good company, that provides a good product.
Schecter is one of the ones to watch going into the future. They've really managed to hit a really good price:quality ratio, every working musician I know has at least one Schecter in their arsenal.
My friend introduced me to Schecter Schecter basses are dope but I still am dreaming of building a green with gold pinstripes and hardware jackson rhoads 5 bass with EMG active pickups and a whammy bar yep they do make bass tremolo and floyd rose bridges Jason newsted had a bass with a tremolo bridge
Their 7 strings are a crazy value. I bought my bandmate a great condition used Damien 7 with active EMGs and gothic inlays for $315 around Christmastime a few years ago. Highway robbery in terms of price to value ratio. We’ve gigged with it countless times.
Schecters have always impressed me. When I taught full time at a store I'd never bring my own guitars and would just grab a Schecter, any Schecter, off the rack. Much better quality than I expected and the necks were great.
I think Schecter is hitting the sweet spot with retro and traditional looks with a modern play, feel, and sound. I dig the sound of these Schecter Ultratrons, they have a Filtertron sound with more warmth...even in the split sounds. Thanks Phillip, for the great video as always.
Phil, really liked this review. I think too many guitar companies focus on the old sounds and spec'ing the guitars that way. There's a bigger need to have a fresh and original sound, that means having the equipment to do it. So the old look with modern features is a good way to go.
@@yargnad All I meant was that too many companies keep looking backwards for ideas. They should be trying to move forward as much as possible. You have a better chance of new/original ideas with modern tech then rehashing the oldest stuff.
Hello Phil...I own 2 Schecters and couldn't be happier with the quality...they are making some very interesting guitars for sure...Happy Thanksgiving!!
I just ordered one of these 2 days ago, enlarged part because of your video. Now than at the time that you posted the video, but still a great deal even at that price. Can't wait to get it!!
Holy Toledo, I love the look of your shop!! Shop video tour!! Also, I am starting to get into fixing and setting up guitars. I am not sure if you have done a video(s) of tools, or better yet, sets of tools for different levels of work. Like a set up set, fret work, electronics, or a home guitar tech, intermediate set, etc. That would be a cool series of videos, please!
Great review and demo as always Phil.....been workinglong hours again at the hospital....so I miss the live episodes...but I always watch them later. You Rock my friend ....still my favorite RU-vid show or podcast shot. Take care from Florida USA
@@juliusmillermusic but a $600 schecter is competing with $1000+ fenders. There are so many features in their mid end models that's you'll never get on a fender player series.
@@juliusmillermusic as he pointed out, the problem is how much less you get for $600 with a mim than you do with most other brands like schecter for $600. Both in quality and features.
@@juliusmillermusic Actually, a basic MIM Player Tele goes for $700 new , and the Schecter PT and PT Special go for $600 while offering some features that many players might find attractive. Like a flatter 12" (PT Special) or 14" (PT) radius, jumbo frets, Grover tuners, belly cut, contoured heel, and brass saddles (PT Special). The closest MIM Fenders for players (like me) looking for a Tele-style close to the above specs are the Deluxe Nashville Tele and FMT Tele, both of which go for $850 compared to $600 for a Schecter PT or PT Special. No I don't work for Schecter.
I am impressed with this guitar. Great video. I love the sound of the pickups. This will more than likely be my next guitar purchase. Great job as usual Phillip!
Oooo weeeee I LOVE that tele!! I'm also diehard Schecter so that's perfect. Yup that's my next axe! Thanks brotha✊ killer content as usual. I just got the CR6 and the neck is the thinnest and fastest I've ever played. Super smooth. HAPPY THANKSGIVINGGGG
I have two C-1 Blood Moons from the 2009 line. They’re beautiful, sound great and the necks are solid. They always stay in tune. I think this new model is awesome and for $599?!? What a deal. Thanks for the review Philip, and for the mutual love of Schecter’s.
its sad, they used to be a great deal at somewhere around 400-500. if i was looking at one now, i would probably go partscaster and give myself a project instead.
People need to stop paying those prices. New players to the market due to pandemic haven't helped. Just wait until we finally get through this and all those people that didn't stick with it start selling; the market will be flooded.
yes it's horrible. I really want a mexi tele, but not paying almost retail. May as well save up some extra and get an american one for around 800 which seem to pop up more than good prices on mexi stuff. Even SG tributes are looking desireable at the current prices.
Hey, the new set up looks very nice and the sound was amazing!!! Keep it up!!! I just want to say thet I have watched all your videos and I want to THANK YOU for making me go into guitar repairs and luthiery... I love it! 😍😍😍
I love Schecter guitars. I own three, but now I'm wanting this PT. I love that they cater to all kinds of musicians. And come ready to play right out of the box.
Wow, may have to get me one of those. Love the coil splits (keeps me from having to swap guitars all the time) and the neck improvements are huge for me. My first guitar ever was an Omen 6. Took it apart 1000 times watching your videos, but learned well on it. Thanks for all you do mate.
Love the way you communicate!!! excellent, mate. The only problem here is whether to go for the gold finish or for the black!!! the look of this model is just fantastic
Quite refreshing to have such a wide selection of guitars and basses for left-handed players compared to many other companies that only offer their most mainstream models.
For me I think Squier Classic Vibe is the best budget guitar I've ever played. I don't have much experience with Schecter as they aren't really common in my country.
Someone just mailed me one after I was in a bad car wreck - haven't been able to find out who. I had to tighten the truss rod maybe 2/3 of a turn, raise the action a millimeter or so, and BAM! Tone city. This one is a goldtop - Schecter website says the fretboard is ebony, but it's more like good rosewood. Thanks for the walkthrough - I was able to notice a couple of things (i.e., compound neck profile) that I hadn't picked up on. Good review.
I just bought this guitar in white last night but got looking at reviews of the Nick Johnson HSS Strat style and was on the fence. After watching this I think I'm gonna keep the PT. Love the old school look of the white with black binding and fret inlays. Cheers
I had a Schecter Classic that I sold to my sons friend. Wish I still had it....stayed in tune, the neck was always true, with great action and no fret buzz. I will definitely look into this model.
I've had a PT Fastback since April of 2013. Not technically new for 2020 but the updates they've done since I bought mine are really nice. Watching this makes me wish I took better care of mine. It sounds amazing but has taken a beating. A workhorse for sure.
Got my first Schecter back in May- a PT Special w sunburst and a P90 in the neck slot- and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Tone, playability, looks, everything. Through my Spark40 amp w headphones it’s like a dream
Thanks, Philip, for stirring up my Schecter G.A.S. I bought a C-1 Elite Exotic and I LOVE it. Now I want the P.T. CUT IT OUT, Man! I can't afford another LOL
I bought a Custom Shop S-style from Schecter in '99. LA made. The craftmanship is top notch ! It plays and sounds just right. I had about a dozen S-types since `69, most of them the big F. None of them could keep up with the Schecter.
Interesting guitar, looks like my 1973 Telecaster Deluxe. FYI my 73 Tele has a belly cut, no arm relief but I’m slowly adding one 😎🎶. Like your videos, always informative.
Love my schecter, very well made and super playable right out of the box plus a price I don't think anyone can beat, a 600$ schecter is every bit as good as the more expensive stuff, can't wait to buy another!
I love their Tele style with the p90 in the neck.. if I ever get a tele style I would likely go with one of those, just because of the belly cut and arm carve. 😊
I’ll take a schecter over a fender all day every day they’re amazing...partial to schecters with neck thru and stainless frets...pickups are usually great too.
Been forever since I purchased a Schecter, but I've always loved that black PT with maple neck. That thing POPS! Absolutely stunning axe! Glad to hear it sounds great too. If I hadn't bought 3 guitars in the last 2 months I'd definitely be interested to get this one! Phil you couldn't have said it better. Vintage looks with modern comfort/appointments. Schecter's bread and butter.
Happy Thanksgiving Mr. McKnight! And the hand shake.., I like that. I'll play any neck, but gotta let you know, a B.C. Rich neck... Just put out your hand and that neck will greet you with the friendliest hand shake you've ever had.
I love that look !! Always have liked that style "tele" with the big pick guard & 4 knob set up .Schecter did a great job with that one !! I think I want one of those !!!
Phil that's a damn nice layout you have there for doing work on guitars. Plenty of room, tool storage, counter space etc etc. The counter mounted light with the long arm is very handy too.
Always went for higher end Fenders/Gibsons but have been getting pretty fed up with their BS and started looking at alternatives and have found a couple I absolutely love. I just recently purchased the same one in a gold top and it absolutely rocks, like it just as much if not more than any Telecaster I own. You hit the nail on the head, modern features with a vintage vibe, hard to beat that combo. I tried a couple Eastman's as well, purchased them and got rid of a few Gibsons. Point is there are a lot of alternatives to the two top dogs and more often than not a better option.
I have an import PT and a custom shop PT. Love them both. Probably will pick up one of these, too, once they've been around long enough to be available at good prices on the used market.
I love the Schecter PT models for all the reasons you stated. They have dual action truss rods too. You get way more for your money than you would with a Fender.
