I bought the exact same model about a year ago as a mod platform, and love it. It was great out of the box, just as Phil describes, but it's pretty special now,. I put in copper shielding, a Tone Shapers 4-way switching/pots/caps package, Tonerider Hot Classics pickups, six adjustable saddles, Grover locking tuners and made my own personalized headstock logo. I also added a mini-toggle switch that lets me take the neck PU out of the tone control circuit (so the neck PU stays fully bright when I roll back the tone on the bridge PU). The neck PU cavity is also routed to accommodate a P-90 or Humbucker, a surprise bonus which expands mod possibilities. I only needed to deepen the rout in the lower part of the control cavity about 5/16" to accommodate the depth of the 4-way switch, and widen the 2 holes on the control plate slightly to fit the wider CTS pot shafts. It was $298 when I bought it last year, and with the mods, I have a little over $500 in it. It plays, feels and looks as good as guitars I have costing 3-4 times more.

Update: After playing guitar for a couple of days, I've concluded this is a pretty nice guitar. I had a Fender custom Tele about 20 years ago I paid $2200 from Sam Ash in New Haven Ct, sweetest sounding guitar I ever owned for clean tones. Always in tune, perfectly intonated, made you sound like a guitar player. The EART is not quite that, but, it's pretty damn close. Came with low set up and a little string buzz. Ever so slightly put a little bow back into the neck, super easy with the wheel adjustment and comes with a little bar tool used for the wheel specifically. Knocked the buzz out immediately. Fingerboard and frets as advertised. Guitar intonated nicely with some minor bridge adjustment. Tuners are smooth and the guitar holds tune very nicely, and, you can capo the thing anywhere and it's in tune. Very light and comfortable. Neck pickup is nice and warm. I sold that Tele, regrettably, as I was more into Strats and LPs at the time, but very pleased to replace it 20 some odd years later at less than 1/5 my cost back then.

04/09/2023: Great review! I have the telecaster style EART T-380 Guitar solid white body with HH splitable pickups, and a 2-point tremolo (Wow, how cool is that on a Telecaster?). I also bought from Amazon ($400.00 free shipping), and it came to me in flawless condition with a spot on setup. I really love this guitar. The only thing I thought would have been better would have been to roll the edges of the neck (I can fix that myself now). By the way, I love the stainless steel frets, but I would not call them "medium jumbo" frets on my guitar. I would call them "small, narrow, and low" frets. But, they are still great!

I bought a EART guitar on Amazon and the frets were staggered. One or two frets would be 1/16th on an inch from the low E and then one or two frets would be around 1/16th or more from the high E. So I sent it back and got another one. When the 2nd guitar arrived, I was not able to set the intonation. So I sent it back. Third time was the charm, now I have a really good roasted neck and body with stainless steel frets, it's great. But from the time I ordered the guitar until the time I actually had a playable guitar, was about one and a half months. Return shipping was free because I'm a Amazon Prime member. If you order directly or from another suppler, you might be stuck with the return shipping.

I am planning on making a tele body this summer and purchasing a neck. After this review, I ordered the EART tele to harvest the neck. I don't know if my message was the one that prompted you, but I'm thanking you anyway. I knew you'd do an outstanding review, hitting all the points I needed to know, and you did. Thank you! I just ordered one, not the tele, but their s-type because that's the one style I don't own unless you count my G&L S-500, which I love, but it's not quite the same. Also, EART says you can swap in a Fender pickguard 'at will', so if I don't like the pickups, I have easy recourse. And, of course, thanks to you, I'm not shy about swapping out tuners if needed. Again, great job as always!

I got one of these off Amazon and threw on some locking tuners, brass saddles and Seymour Duncan vintage stack pickups. There was an issue with frets that weren’t all the way seated so the high e string was getting caught on the fret now and then so I messaged them on Amazon and they sent me a replacement neck which I admittedly have little interest in installing. I just hammer down the fret ends a bit with a brass punch and it’s been pretty good since.

The tone difference between bright bridge and dull neck and the need to adjust the tone control a fair bit when switching between the two was exactly what I found with my Harley Benton TE70; so much so in fact that I genuinely wondered if they might even be the same pickups, it sounded the same. They work OK though the neck _is_ too dull, but they certainly don't balance well as a pair. I changed the pickups on mine (for an Iron Gear Steel Foundry pair) which solved the issue and upgraded. I hear what you are saying about the neck but this does need new pickups. Also, it is worth checking what pots and tone cap are in it as mine had the wrong value which I changed plus changed the cap for an orange drop. I understand that this is a different make/model but it really does sound so similar to my HB before I upgraded it.

Hi, When I started playing in the early sixties the only cheap guitars were from Sears, Montgomery Ward, Harmony and Kent. The latter was the worst of the bad. All pretty much unplayable junk. Fortunately, my dad recognized my talent and bought me a Fender Jaguar. A "real" guitar. I have been on a mission recently to check out the state of the art in inexpensive to cheap guitars. I bought a Kramer VT211S from Sweetwater, a Firefly ES338 in spalted maple and a EART Tele copy after listening to your review the other night. It arrived today. The Kramer and Firefly are excellent guitars, but the EART blew me away. I agree it's the best fretwork I've ever seen in my 60 years of playing. The guitar is absolutely excellent. As a comparison I bought a Martin SC13e a year ago MSRP $1,600 ! The quality of the Martin cannot compare to the Kramer, Firefly and the EART. Thanks a million!!! Shalom/gw

I recently bought a Fender Tele Performer and Tele American Pro II. They both play great and I do not regret the purchase. I've been playing for 40 yrs, have a good career and can afford it. These days I look at it as buying a Gucci hand bag, you are paying mostly for the name on the headstock. In that name comes much higher worker healthcare, taxes, etc. That being said I love budget guitars and if I was younger with little income, I would absolutely go for the more affordable options. I see no reason to buy a "real deal" guitar when the off brand guitars offer so much these days. Love your channel!

A friend of mine bought an Eart as his first guitar. They are hands-down the best value going. The fret work is better than my Fender Pro strat. His had some crackling in one pot, but I sprayed it with some Deox and it worked perfectly. Also the nut was crooked, and it wouldn't stay in tune for very long, so he brought it to a shop and the guy put a nicer one on which worked great, but he could have also just tapped the original in placed and repglued it. So It's not perfect, but far better than you'd expect. Looks really nice too.

I’ve got 5 EART guitars, and they’re all really great guitars with quality features far beyond the sticker price. They’re not perfect, the tuners on all of them are middle of the road (they don’t feel cheap, but the gearing is not great, can get annoying doing the flat/sharp dance over a gear click turn - ended up swapping locking tuners in on the worst offenders), the trem blocks are pot metal, there’s no shielding paint, and one of them had a couple dead spots I had to fix, 2 others had those same beautiful fret ends, but would grab the high E if I bent too far up, which is really frustrating but honestly a super rare occurrence unless I’m playing one particular AC/DC lick. My point is, you’re still getting a budget guitar, and a really great one at that, but the signs of cost cutting are still there (and honestly, easily fixable/upgradable). They’re good guitars, I play them all regularly, they sound good, none have had any technical or build/QA issues aside from those 2 grabby fret ends I’ve been too lazy to fix. If you’re on the fence, they’re worth it.

I bought a genuine Fender pickguard, put in a DiMarzio tone Zone stack single coil at the bridge, put an old Mexican single coil at the neck position, filed the cutout for the truss wheel adjuster. Had to redrill two screws for the pick guard. I now have around $300 in this guitar and it's fantastic. The white Fender pick guard looks way better than that mint green that comes on it. Compound radius neck as well.

There's a guitar teacher and top player, Dave Price, who plays in a band called Mixed Feelings. We've seen them a few times and he has to cross many different genres / styles. His sound has always been outstanding and on one occasion he used a £200 Yamaha Pacifica, you wouldn't have known the difference between that guitar and a £6K Fender CS model. Just shows it's more about technique and great value instruments!

Just bought one and it delivers tomorrow! I was a little hesitant since most recent reviews, prior to this one, 10-12 months old. Nice review and hope mine is as beautiful and playable as the one you show here. Roasted maple is my fav fretboard for tactile feedback and tone. The super slippery stainless frets should make bending a joy I really like the warm neck pickup too. You can approach the Clapton Cream era "woman tone" or Santana's Abraxas tones without a 10lb LP breaking your back.

Good news is we can also get these here in Wales. I'm tempted due to just how good the neck appears to be. Nice to know how it is routed under the pick guard as I do like to put humbuckers in the neck position on a Tele.

I bought the EART335 based solely on Darrell braun’s review and it is an excellent guitar and the frets are just as good as the one you showed on there. I mainly bought the guitar because of the Stainless Steel frets and the polish work on the frets. The 335 version of that brand is an excellent guitar and it was about the same price. I bought the music nomad KISS set up tool kits so I could practice setting up this cheaper guitar and when I took the measurements every single measurement be on the guitar was perfect. The neck relief was right on, the nut was cut perfect, the pick ups were perfect height and action was perfect. I spent all that money on the set up kit and didn’t have to do anything to eart Guitar so I used it on my Epiphone les Paul custom instead and had to file the nut and the bridge saddles to get the right height whereas the EART was perfect on both ends and I definitely was not expecting that on a 300 and something dollar guitar. I bought that guitar on Amazon as well.

I have the Strat version of their guitar the frets feel so much better than my fender Am-Pro II. I switched out the pickups and installed hipshot locking tuners.

Phillip, thanks for not starting every video with you shredding incredibly and blasting our ears out showing off. So many other videos out there that are 'reviews' but I'd say just a chance for the reviewer to show off his/her shredding ability.

This may be what I've been looking for. My kid outgrew the Squire Mini & I was just going to get a PRS Standard so they could work with a really good instrument, then I realized they've gone up $200 since a previous purchase in 2019. Definitely going to give EART a close look.

After watching your video I purchased the Strat version for fun. Absolutely impressive fretwork. The neck is amazing. I dropped in some new pickups and electronics I had laying around and the guitar is just is laughably good and superior to any Squier Classic Vibe I have played. Including the large steel block trem. Just a great platform for upgrade.

I have 4 Eart guitars including this tele and they are all great guitars with some caveats. The tuners and pickups aren't the best but the biggest issue is going to be that you will probably have to do some light fretwork to get all the frets even. I had to do it to all of my Earts but to be fair I had to level my $1200 Charvel as well. Once you fix these guitars up they are still an amazing value.

I can tell just by how you are playing that the fretwork on this guitar is a lot better than most.

Nice, thanks for the review; I hope to see if the quality carries though on their other models. I just received a HB 550-ii and despite such high reviews all over on RU-vid for a couple years it has issues. I can fix most but the finish flaws, but why should I throw money at it to bring it up to where it should be in the first place?

I have the HSS strat version that Eart makes and it has this same roasted maple neck on it. The frets are obviously something new they are trying and people are liking it. However I very much doubt that they spend much time hand polishing the frets... I am quite sure they have them made to fit and this is why many if not all their guitars have the same neck specs/profile. I kept having a problem where the high e string would fall off the end of the fretboard. I don't bend downward, but I dunno... it just happened at times. I no longer have the guitar. That little extra partial millimeter of fret missing from the edge was actually a problem for me. Probably just the way I play. Still... I have IYV guitars from Amazon that are of excellent quality and half the price of these Earts.

Great review, surprisingly a quality guitar. Your playing has improved so much over the years. Congrats on your high integrity of the channel and your playing. If you could do me a big favour, I'd like to see you review Dean Zelesky guitars- their finish detail creative design is over the top for me, but how about a review. Dean has done much research, he deserves at least some exposure from quality channels like yours ! Now 'WHEN' is the question you can review it ??? Have fun, Thank you...

Not sure I like the way those frets are shorter than the width of the neck but they are finished really nicely at that or higher price points. Wow, looks a great value guitar…

Ill have to check out some other guitars they have. I have a tele and not really a tele guy. It sit on my stand far too much. I just cannot get used to the body shapes and I feel like something is missing. But ill check out some of their other guitars since you say they make them very well.
