Because gossip girl should have ended with season 2. The plot lines after the middle of season 3 were terrible. Plus they ruined Rufus and Lily for nothing other than they didn’t know who they wanted to end up together the most, Dan and Serena or Lily and Rufus. They didn’t need to choose one couple over the other. Rufus and Lily should have ended up together like they originally planned
William was consistently terrible inside of the entire series. This moment was by far his worst dalliance of his existence on the show. And he got away with absolutely everything. 😟

@@kathrynorozco5416 I enjoyed some storylines after season three not all but some but I agree that the relationship between Lily and Rufus became a headache just for them to not even end up together was annoying. Too much of the “different worlds” trope when they literally knew that from the beginning since they were teenagers. The producers should’ve made them a thing once or not at all.
@@brielleginestwu yeah I don’t believe in that total different world thing. They knew from the start that they led different lives from each other but in the end it didn’t truly matter. They always found their way back to each other and made it work for quite some time. No one they were ever with romantically ever compared to the other. Rufus’s wife was so jealous because Lily has always been the love of his life same goes for William who was jealous of Rufus because he is/was the love of lily’s life. The writers apparently thought they had to choose between Dan and Serena and Lily and Rufus. For some reason they thought that the two couples couldn’t be together. Don’t know why but that’s what most fans have concluded about it
