Very informative Kenny. That was surprising when you went to drain it and nothing came out. That could defiantly been the reason for failure. That was some bad galling on the shaft. Good job on the show.

That what's happened when you don't service your truck ,t case runs dry from a leak ,and differential,run dry also and when it starts making a noise it is to late to fix

I've had things like that where you take the plug out and nothing comes out. It's because the dirt or sludge at the bottom seals it and you have to poke something through.

Some places that reman transfer cases,some want 5w30 synthetic engine oil in place of the ATF in theirs.I know of one this way,has a sticker on them saying 5w30 synthetic engine oil in them.Finding out it is better than the ATF taking the heat better
@aprilgeneric8027
@aprilgeneric8027 5 месяцев назад
engine oil may take the heat better, but just like all oil...it's the weight and viscosity level that matter, hydro oil/transmission has more cleaners in them. after a vehicle develops a ticking sound, replace one quart of the motor oil with CET transmission oil with the next oil change...it may take 3 oil changes of doing this, but if you see sludge or white gunk coming out and any yellow or gray puke...it means your internals are sticky gumy with all manners of crude that it's cleaning out. you can stop putting a quart of tranny oil in on the next oil change after the ticking noise goes away. alot of the time it takes 1-3 full cycles to get all the tiny little oil ports opened back up especially on the gm variable cylinder ecomotors...the ports are just too small...bad design....but during the obamacrash dealers said they were going to make up their profit losses on sales via service...and they are killing it on servicing issues ever since

Projects involving transmissions/differentials/transfer cases can sometimes stretch out over days/weeks/etc. That is a great recipe for forgetting simple steps before the end. A good tip I came across is to tape a sign to the steering wheel that says "NO DIFF FLUID" (or whatever) when first drained, and leave it there until refilled at the end of the project. That might prevent an absent-minded person from getting in the car and driving off with no lubricant.

3 rivers is the Detroit plant..hence why the football stadium was called 3 rivers. thanks to showing me why my u joint replacements weren't sliding smooth. it took me 3 replacements before i figured out how to properly set everything the way you did, i just used a c clamp because the ends fit the caps perfect and the slow and steady pressure let me feel if something was going wrong with the cap and needle bearings compress setting by hand. also did not think the grease type mattered as before they went to the blue moly and lithium, it used to be the regular yellow grease so that was an interesting tib bit side note i didn't put any thought into other than i made sure they were full of any grease they might have lost and bleed of air.

That transmission jack under the transfer will get you hurt. Just waiting for it to fall off. Pick it up and stuff it back in. Sling the back over the crossbar and slide it onto the transmission. PS the front u-joint looks loose as heck.

Blower motor a drop of that oil from transfer case on the bushings will shut it up for the rest of the life of the truck. Issue normally is to get to that motor ends to apply the oil. Solved in on the noisy engine fan with a undercoating gum and lots of oil, very low air pressure and a pipe to lead the output under the fan motor shroud, and a bit of mess of oil.
