I would say the BASS is the biggest issue with the Meridian sound system in the EV6. It just have a passive subwoofer instead of a active one. Other than that I think it sounds pretty good.
Actually some other bloke on RU-vid with an EV6 GT Line (I think it was EV-olution) said, that you could massively boost the audio experience by modifying the settings to his likening. Likewise I also enjoyed quite a bass boost on a Skoda Enyaq merely adjusting it in the equalizer.
My concern isn't just the bass but the overall sound quality. Also you cannot just set and forget the settings since every song is different. Unless you only listen to bass heavy songs, you'd find yourself tweaking the settings all the time.
@@HighOnCars1 I was just giving an example with bass, but I've also watched your 10k km resume and understood your point better. I'll hear it for myself once we get our EV6 GT Line.
@@HighOnCars1 ok, they way you wrote in your first reply was at least misunderstandable. I said settingS snd I still recommend you visit them because they seem interesting.
Thanks for the video. Is the max volume 75? Seems like a strange number for Kia to select, but that's the max number I get when playing bluetooth audio.
For sure, sound 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder', but in this case, it might have been helpful for you to explain your opinion rather than generalize. Was it the base, treble or midrange? Was it the placement of the speakers? Would the controls not balance it to your liking front to back/side to side? Was it a lack of power? Apart from that, and depending on the size of your wallet, can the system be improved?
I'm talking about the overall sound quality and the listening experience. The sound is just not rich enough. People do all sorts of upgrades to their cars but I just don't believe in modifying anything that comes from the factory because everything is integrated these days and you don't know how you could to be altering that connection.
bowers and wilkins in new Volvos are the best I've heard. So much fidelity and that 2000watt subwoofer makes you feel it all too. Other premium systems gets your ears hurting after max volume for a while. BMW's h&k is absolutely crap in comparison. I'm young so fidelity is important. I can hear easily when the system is crappy.
Any system w/ DIRAC built in is going to be a tier above the rest. People dont realize that DIRAC has automotive room correction now but its on very limited vehicles. The speakers themselves dont matter so much as the DSP technologies. Allegedly Meridian's DSP software is built into their vehicles as well but and Meridian has a huge background in DSP processing, but their research is nowhere near as extensive as extensive as DIRAC imo. Hell if Sony got into the Automotive room correction space they would probably do just as well if not better than DIRAC even.
@@HighOnCars1 it's pretty impressive. Comparable to BMW's fancier systems. (Dont quote me on that, it is a little while ago i were in a bmw and it was a 2018 or something instead of 2020 Volvo which have b&w) But still way behind Volvo's fancy ones Credit were credit is due. It's extremely accurate though, and clear.
Don't get me wrong. It's not bad at all. It's pretty good. Just not good enough. My benchmark is Acura's ELS 3D Surround Sound System which is better than Audi's B&O.
@@OutOfNameIdeas2 Ironically that was the period when BMW sounds systems were actually good. Back when Dirac was used on their cars from the factory. Dirac knows room correction~ Ever since DIRAC re-entered the automotive space w/ a dedicated car optimized version of their DIRAC processing they've been killing it w/ Volvo being their primary partner (and now Rolls Royce & higher end BMW models).
I agree with you, im also disapointed. My 10 year old bwm had better soundsystem. And i built my own audio system in my cabriolet, that one cost 2000 $ in parts, and if thats a 8 of ten, i would rate the ev6 5 of ten. Im planing to se if there is a way to easy install a sub amplifier, maybe then i could turn the base down on the frontsystem and the will play louder without shaking and distortion.. Im guessing the amplifier in ev6 is about 250-400 watts in total RMS. Thanks for your time and thoughts! / Peter 🇸🇪
The update did not do anything about the sound. Only made it so the volum gets louder at a smaller number on the volum indicator. So like the volum you got at 40 before is like the same as 15 after update. I think the only thing that made you feal a better sound is that the update made a better default settings for the equalizer. The new default settings was just better then the settings you did have set yourselfe before update (if you did change settings from default before updating).. For me, I have messed around a lot with the sound system before I made the update, and the settings I did have before updating was about the same as the as the new default setting. If I didnt mess with the setings before update, and still had the Kia default sound settings in, I also should feal it as a lot better after the new default setings. But since I already adjusted the settings to max best sound before updating, I did not get any better sound at all after updating.
@@HighOnCars1 What kind of recall was that? What did they do? The only recall I know of about the sound system is about the replacing of the amp because of overheating, and that is done on my car. Other then that, only this software update in october 2023, yes...
I miss my 2001 Volvo S80 with Bluetooth that sounds better than new BMW's lol. Bowers and winkins in new Volvos are the best sound system ive ever heard in a car too. Not even luxury brands beat it.
A comment… nice video, but why, you use the microphone of your mobile phone… the sound is awfull.. weird, because your video is on the sound in the car…
It's a GoPro Hero9 Black, not a phone that's I'm using for recording and yes, sometimes the audio quality changes while recording but I'm not playing music on the audio system so it's got nothing to do with what the video is about.
