I’m pretty sure the reason Meredith’s application looked weird was bc she used a oil based primer and I believe this is a water based tinted moisturizer

It's a sheer foundation for light coverage for mature skin; it's for dry, not oily/combo/normal skin.

I gotta disagree with the “ there’s no wrong way to put makeup.” If someone applied an entire jar of highlighter, for example, and complains that they look horrible, then that’s on them. They applied the product in a way it’s not meant to be used. Meredith Duxbery dumped half a jar of foundation and applied it to her, I don’t think any foundation company expects people to use that much product. Of course it’s going to be goopy. It is user error and unfair to the company. This just gives “the customer is always right” vibes.

In the words of Robert Welsh, 'Make up has no rules, but make up does have a theory,' so I think we can say that someone's application technique is bad.

I’ve seen Bobbi also explain that this product is for the ultra dry and mature skin. So, I think it’s for a specific market that often goes ignored in the beauty industry. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't think people realize that ppl with dry skin have a hard time finding products that work on our skin. It's always about oily skin and how it's sooo hard to manage but there are so many products out there for oil control but sooo little products that sit well on dry skin. Plus texture and wrinkles are much more enhanced when you have dry skin and wear any type of products on top. It will always look a lil cakey even if you do your skincare religiously. Tinted moisturizers especially tend to dry funny or separate on dry skin so thjs product is a gem and it's made for us not for normal or oily skin. It will look too shiny on you and will be too sticky. But for us it's one rare product

Makeup is makeup, but deliberately going out of your way to apply a product in excessive amounts just to say it doesn't look good is disingenuous, and makes me distrustful of her reviews.

See I looked it up and I seen where that one influencer had water-based underneath and then out of the oil tank or something and that's why it looks clumpy and disgusting but and I don't think that was a fair review she didn't follow the directions but you did and I I see where it's nice but it's just not it love your honesty

Uhm, there is a wrong way to apply things. If you use half the jar at once then that’s definitely wrong.

I can see this working as a hydrating type of makeup and for just every day "just wanna look okay while in a grocery store or other errands type of stuff". I can powder on top to tame that stickiness/tacky feeling you showed, but definitely not for events where I need more coverage.

But there actually is a way to apply makeup depending on the formula. It’s unfair that influencers can make a trashy review but makeup owners cannot stand by their brand. Meredith had it coming, the way she applied half of the jar, cmon. I love your content tho. No hate

This is for dryer mature skin , I can see how it could work. The face balm is great

it’s okay to not like the product and i get what she’s saying but there’s definitely a wrong way to use a product and emptying half the pot on to your face like meredith did is just not how it’s supposed to be used

Yeah makeup is makeup, but are you gonna say someone who pour 1 kg of powder on their face is the correct way to apply loose powder? It seems like this is made for older women than younger women, cause Bobbi Brown is the owner of this, she is known for her Hydrating Balm and moisturizing foundation, yea I know there are older woman who have tried this and said they didn't like it, but really, skin is different for everyone really

The Jones Road brand was made for a specific customer like my mom with mature, dryer skin. It probably wouldn’t work for me because I have combo skin and can get oily by day’s end. I think it’s fair for everyone to have likes and dislikes but also to know who the target audience is

I love ya but makeup is not just makeup. There are certain rules, wether you like it or not. That’s why certain applications work out better than others . And using a product in a way it wasn’t intended will yield unwanted results.

I really like you but you gotta be fair. Yes, there's no "wrong" way to do makeup. True. But some products are meant to be used a with a certain technique and by certain people. I use sunscreen more than makeup so I'll give an example of that. I've got a combination skin and live in relatively hot area. So I can't use a moisturizing sunscreen. This is probably for those people who gave really dry skin and the makeup starts flaking on them after a bit. Also, technique does matter. I can't apply a chemical sunscreen the same way I'd apply alone with some ZnO or TiO2. One I can just slather on, with the other I need to work in small amounts sonas not make the white cast too noticable. Yes, you can say it doesn't suit your skin or doesn't meet your requirements or isn't suitable for the technique you use. But don't use it in a way it's not meant to be used and go oh no, I don't recommend. You didi it the right way, and you gave a valid reason for why you wouldn't use it.

I love this foundation!, especially when my skin is going through a dry episode.

Im sure if u threw on some concealer and some powder(or even just some face powder), that tackiness would be resolved(especially since that's what we look for in a good primer, at least me) At the same time, most ppl who use tinted moisturizers, use it so they don't have to do all that so I guess it's a matter of if u like the product and the coverage is ur thing.

Yes she is right when she says no one can tell you how to use your makeup, but people can tell you how the product is intended to be used (as they did) and Meredith put the whole container of the product on her face. If you are a bigger influencer with a big following that mainly focuses on doing reviews, I say review the product fairly and how it is intended to be used.

Thanks, but it's for mature dry skin someone over the age of 40 with a light to medium coverage. It's like using stage makeup for everyday. So it's not a fair comparison on dewy young skin.

It will absorb into the skin and it leaves a beautiful dewy light to medium finish while leaving your skin so smooth. Just let it dry, girl!

I’m 52 and it’s the best foundation I’ve ever used. Makeup isn’t makeup. You’re not supposed to put that much on. It’s not a tinted moisturizer. It’s for dry or mature skin. Also, it isn’t self-setting, so a light dusting of powder sets it and it is no longer moist or sticky. One day you’ll understand. Mature skin looks horrible under most makeup. This is the first makeup I’ve used that doesn’t crease in my wrinkles and look like it’s sitting on top of my skin rather than becoming one with it. It’s truly amazing, actually. Find a friend over 45 who has dry skin and use it on them. They’ll tell you it’s fantastic stuff.

Half of the ppl that are being extra about the whole situation don't even wear makeup, let alone, tinted anything... Yet they're everywhere defending it like they're on the Jones Road payroll. If you wanna try it, try it🙄

"Who is to say that another person's application is wrong, make up is makeup", many professional makeup artists have said what a lot of people get mixed up is that they believe makeup has no rules. Not true. Creativity has no rules, but makeup, in order for it to work, does have rules on application.

I make my own tinted moisturizer with the products I already have and mix them at the Palm of my hand. I apply the mixture with my fingers, best application ever.

I love your videos. Absolutely love you. But unfortunately this video is not it. It’s okay to not consider a product good for oneself after actually using it properly. Good chance what you’re using isn’t meant to be used your way, or is just strictly non-multi purpose. And good chance the product isn’t for you at all, or just a bad product overall. The owner of the brand is as much part of the community as Meredith is. She a woman, was dragged as well. You’ve made a video before as well. There was no reason to do this. Both made videos without much due-diligence. With Meredith over how wrongly she reviewed the product and directed hate towards Bobbi Brown and with Bobbi’s video shading Meredith. Nonetheless, it was out of pocket for you to drag this on. We understand you support Meredith and we get it. But literally give it a rest now.

I like the way you applied, very similar to the way Mikayla applied, used a little and gave it an honest try. She didn't like it either but she said it wasn't bad. The biggest reasons she didn't like it was the smell, she prefers more coverage and the lightest shade was really orangey.

I respectfully disagree that makeup is makeup. Skin makeup isn’t as free form as a shadow that can double as blush of a lip topper etc. when it comes to Meredith, I can’t appreciate a creator misusing a skin product and then consequently rating it poorly. The lack of research reminds me of when many non-Asian creators didn’t like Korean products and said it was bad. The reality was that those same creators didn’t bother to do research. Personally, for products that go directly on my skin aka foundation, primer, concealer- I will research at least an hour to make sure it is something I can try.
