Hey guys, I realized that I didn't really elaborate on how long these products last on the skin (I don't know why I always forget that part...but I need to work on that!). When it comes to the foundation, it was very difficult to tell how long it lasted because I couldn't really see it on my skin at all. The cream blush stick lasted a couple of hours but faded pretty quickly...I think because it stayed a little tacky and didn't dry down all the way. The eyeshadows were very long lasting and didn't crease or break up but I do have drier eyelids, so those with oily eyelids may have a different experience. Finally, the lip tint did have more longevity than I thought it would, likely due to the pigmentation it had...it left a little hint of tint behind after the shine wore away.
I love that you don't do sponsorships anymore! They're pretty hard to get away from lately, it seems like every video I watch has a sponsor somewhere in it. I watch RU-vid to get away from commercials and I miss the way it used to be when influencers would just sit down and talk about makeup for the fun of it! You and Emily are the only ones I still watch.
Dupe Queen coming thru with the dupes! 👸👸🙌🌹I love how you can always find us some alternatives even when you're trying new makeup. NO ONE on RU-vid has such an encyclopedic knowledge of makeup and can find them like you do. I admire how you can try a new product and think back to what else you have that looks like it. Amazing!
I love your reviews Jen! When I was younger I could only afford drugstore makeup, but as my circumstances got better I bought only high-end "better" makeup. I found that I could find drugstore dupes for most of the expensive cosmetics and now very rarely find a product that justifies the cost. If I see something expensive that interests me I immediately come to you to see what you've found to duplicate it! Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos, it's appreciated and FUN, lol!!
Thank you Toni! I have had the same experience...I could only afford drugstore until I was around my early 30's and now that I can afford high-end, I see so many similarities to the cheaper products. Drugstore has come a long way!
I agree with you so much on the foundation and concealer. I have dry, mature skin and it sounded like it would be a dream for me but it was so sticky and even though I like lighter coverage, this was almost non-existent! I don't get the point of that, like you said if you're doing to take time to put makeup on, you want it to actually DO something.
YES! Haha I thought the same thing when everyone was saying how rich the foundation was. I was like, "I love rich night creams, it'll be awesome!" but I was unprepared for how sticky it was!
This was a great review, Jen. You are one of the very few who has reviews that I trust. Since the affordable makeup companies are really making great quality things, it is hard for me to want to drop that kind of money for products whose alternatives I can find for a lot less money. High-end makeup companies better start really innovating to charge those kind of prices. I love how you provide dupe options with any item you can!!
I love hearing your honest thoughts about this brand. I have definitely seen a lot of sponsorships with the brand so hearing what you thought is super helpful ❤️❤️
Didn't even know about this brand until this video and some post on social media. Thanks for your honesty, I wasn't looking at this brand at all, and thanks for your input I can pass on this brand. I agree with you on wanting a no makeup - makeup look but with some coverage, certain spots need a bit of extra coverage to have a nice seamless look without being too heavy or cakey looking. I appreciate the dupes you found for these products, I would try some of those.
Hi Jen! I wanted to let you know that I finally scored some of the Doll 10 hydracream blushes!! They has a set of five blushes for $25 on their website! I actually scored 20% off for their memorial day sale but it's still a good deal even without that! 😄
A drugstore brand had a foundation similar to that Jones Road one, I can't remember which, actually I think Maybelline, L'oreal and Covergirl all had one, they all came in little jars, and claimed to be "light as air" I'm thinking I tried the Covergirl one, I myself didn't care for it, it wouldn't stay on the face, and you could forget trying to build it up, cause it lifted any foundation you were able to get to stick on your face, it was a splotchey mess😭😭😭, great video Jen, I've heard mixed reviews on that foundation, mostly all bad😬😬😬, but you always give products a fair shot and give honest reviews, you have never steered me wrong on any product, and I appreciate you, the time and effort that you put into your videos, and your always honest opinions, it all means a lot 🥰🥰🥰
Appreciate your review. Jones Road is a bit of an investment…not inexpensive. 65 years old w dry skin that is in pretty decent shape. Dry skin, can barely remember many pimples growing up. I watched so many you tube reviews before deciding JR was worth a try. So glad I did jump in. WTF Porcelain keeps my skin moist until I wash it off in the evening. The transparency suits me. Almost every foundation I have ever tried made me essentially skip foundation. Tried the Miracle Balm minis, so that I could sample more colors. Miami Beach is a terrific blush, and Magic Hour is a really great lid color. Also using their skin oil, brow pencil, lip and cheek stick…Jones Road might be worth a retry when you’ve gotten a bit older. Solid review, but I wanted to add a comment that might be seen by the viewers closer to my age.
Thanks for the review! I would love to see this brand do a range of tinted SPFs because the balm foundation seems like it would disrupt SPF layer that I wear everyday. The foundation pencil is something I’m interested in.
every video on this brand i’ve seen just makes me think these products take a lot of work to get them to work. and i don’t want makeup to feel like work. so thank you for breaking this down for us so well! ❤️
One if the most transparent and honest reviews of makeup I've seen for a long time. With natural daylight and side by side comparisons, well you're really doing the most. Great review and as I thought, I won't be touching ANY of this line. Thank you 😊 💓
I really appreciate your reviews, Jen. I love that you mention the consistency and how long it takes a product to dry down, because I don't like too much tackiness either. There is so much out there and thanks to honest reviews like yours, we can much more confidently navigate what will be worth our hard-earned money or not. 🌹
Okay I needed this video!! I was so close to trying a few things but the price points had me second guessing. Appreciate your honest reviews of these. I won’t be purchasing anything. I like the idea of the brand but I’ve got some similar items in my collection already, and I also like a little bit more coverage for my base.
I would love to try this brand & I’ve been getting mixed reviews as well, especially from those who just act dumb with the products and then give bad reviews. I’m glad you reviewed this and I definitely want to try out the Wtf 😆
Thank you so much for this. You are amazing and so trustworthy!! I always come to your reviews when I am deciding on how I want to spend my hard earned money!! Thank you for your thorough reviews and hard work for us!!
Thanks for your review! You have saved me so much money over the years. This brand was destined to be great, given Bobbi Brown is at the helm, but it failed so badly. I've not seen any good reviews, especially the foundation. I find it sad that she failed in so many categories.
Hey Jen! I read the ingredients list for the WTF foundation, and...I wouldn't let it anywhere near my face. Patchy, moody rosacea + ginger and geraniol = DISASTER! But strangely, the lavender oil in Bliss brand Block Star and the citrus/tea tree oil scent in IT CC Cream don't bother me bc they dissipate so quickly. So maybe my skin is starting to change again...sigh! But I love your videos, and frequently rewatch them just to catch more of your details! I think I may have told you, but you're the only RU-vidr who gets to ring my (notification) bell! See you soon, I'll bring the popcorn!
Hallo, ❤️ . I was so happy to see you did this. I finally feel I have finally got a representation of these products. And thank you for the dupes, you are diffently the 👑 queen 👑 of dupes. And I most definitely don't believe this what the foundation is for me. ☺️😘
I so appreciate your honesty in ALL your reviews! I totally agree that these are all things we’ve seen before in other products, although the blushes were really pretty, their are other high end brands I’d rather spend my money on. (Em cosmetics comes to mind as one of them) Thanks so much for sharing alternative products, as well❣️❤️I always look forward to your videos!!!🥰
Wow, thank you for this review! I'm not a makeup person. I only use BB Cream, but the WTF product and Face Stick looked so amazing as someone who likes the no makeup makeup look. Everyone who hated it either was using it incorrectly or they just liked a different kind of look than the product was capable of creating, so I kept thinking that I might like it as I have dry skin and don't like glam looks. Your review really helped me figure out that WTF probably isn't for me, especially now that I know it does have fragrance. Everyone else commenting on it just said it was strong, and I didn't realize the geranium oil was under a different name in the ingredients list. I am subscribing! Even if I don't use a lot of makeup, I appreciate how you're able to come up with cheaper alternatives.
Thank you so much for subscribing!🤗 I had the same thoughts as you initially. I have dry skin and thought that the people I was watching must have been doing something wrong. I was pretty sure I was going to love the WTF, but even as someone who likes to look very natural it seemed like a lot of money to pay to look like I have absolutely nothing on my skin. Plus the strong scent and greasy, sticky feel were unpleasant.
Never heard of this brand here in Germany but it seems like I didn't miss anything exciting 😂 Like you said, the all natural look can also be achieved with less expensive products.
You applied that perfectly! I've seen people put globs on their face, which is not the way its intended to be used. I think you'd get more coverage with a brush or sponge. Not sure about this one? I love Bobbi Brown 's aesthetic though. Bummer!
I’m enjoying your channel more and more. Thanks for all the great content! 🤗 I have normal/oily skin and financially challenged but still enjoying the review.😆
Thanks for the great review. I've been curious about Jones Road products and from what I can tell, I haven't been missing too much. Have you tried the new Sheglam balm foundations? I've been pretty happy with them so far along with the L'Oreal tinted balm. Also, I recall you mentioning that you have dry skin on your legs. You should try the Sol Body Hair and Body Oil. I use 2 pumps on each leg every morning after I shower and no more dry skin.
The foundation balm sounds very appealing to me. I’m 43 and my skin is getting dryer. I’m really leaning towards the more natural hydrating makeup lately. I think this will be great for me in the winter months in the cold dry air!!
It sounds from your description of the line that it would be perfect for a person who basically wants a no makeup look. I like a natural look, but I wouldn’t pay these prices for base products that don’t do much to improve the way my skin looks.
I have tried the miracle balm and the face pencils. Her brand is supposed to be based on a more natural look. Skin is supposed to look like skin. The no make up look. I love them both. I try not to use a ton of the balm on my cheeks. I do like it on the lips as well. The pencils don’t have the highest coverage but cover enough and they are quick and easy when I’m in a hurry. It is best to have moisturizer on be applying the face pencils. I want to try a few other things from this brand. Lip gloss, eye and brow pencils.
Thank you for this review. I really like to hear about newer brands but I also really like high value for the money I spend. For me, Jones Road seems to fall short in the quality VS cost ratio. And honestly these brands have a lot of competition when a brand like colourpop is generally so good and for a very good price
Thanks for the unbiased review. I'm definitely happy ht this line is cruelty free, however the price point is just way too high, especially when you can get comparable (or better) products for much less $$. I may be tempted to try the foundation if there was a sale. Otherwise, DUPES FOR THE WIN 😁
Absolutely!! I agree with you as long as it's someone you trust. TikTok unfortunately is a huge place for undisclosed sponsorships right now and people are making things go viral just for a paycheck rather than giving an honest thoughtful review. In the past when I did sponsorships I always made sure it was with a brand I truly loved and products I would use anyway.
I really like that lip colour on you (the Bright Pink) ❤️ And thanks as ever for such a comprehensive review, lately I've been waiting for your take on a new brand before committing to buying anything because I always trust your judgement. I really appreciate how you go into such detail of why you do or don't like something, so that even though I have super oily skin and yours is dry I still feel like you are able to give good information about how products are likely to perform on me. Gonna pass on Jones Road I think
Thank you so much for your honesty and your well rounded review I have the miracle balm from Jones Road I have mature skin it works well for me and yet the abundance of oils in it I am a bit sensitive to. The concealer stick for under the eye I like but it is pricy and it doesn't last very long. I enjoyed seeing all your comparisons that was great , I liked your channel
I’ve found that my preferences are very similar to yours, so I really appreciate & enjoy hearing your thoughts on this! I’ve been curious about the brand, but haven’t felt it was special enough to spend the extra money on.
Hi Jen, I agree with you about Jones Road Beauty. I returned the WTF in Fair and Light. It never set down and made me look like a greasy mess. But I did enjoy some of the other products. I like the balms (in specific spots). I like both kinds of eyeshadows, the cream and the powder. I’m waiting on the new lip tints (which have gotten great reviews) and the cheek and lip sticks. So bottom line for me, it’s a mixed bag. I also don’t go for the user error excuse. I tried the WTF every which way and, while it looked good upon application and heavy powdering, it was a greasy mess shortly thereafter.
For the price, I will wiggle into a sheer luminous and cheaper cream, I.e. L’Oréal balm or Danessa Myricks balm😽 The miracle balm makes your money go poof 👻 like a true miracle!
Thanks for this review, I knew this was not for my mature skin, I feel like it is for more younger skin, that doesn’t like to wear very much makeup, I have too many dark spots and dark circles , but thank you for the honest review.
I don't do well with traditional make up but these would be the kind of products I like. I got really excited but when I looked it up it was way too expensive! I usually just wear a tinted sunscreen and some light color on my lips, cheeks and eyes that are usually the same product.
I think the eyeshadows look nice but why did they put them in those teeny tiny jars? I still haven't tried Colourpop's super shock shadows but they look like a nice alternative!
Thanks for doing this review. I have also seen a lot of negative reviews on this brand. I tested most of the line in Credo and was just disappointed. I had dry skin and I love many products from the OG Bobbi Brown line but this one is just falling flat for me. I may try out some of the dupes you mentioned!
Thanks Jen, ❤️👍I use my lipstick as a matching cream blush so I don’t get why these lip and cheek sticks have such a current appeal. Mac Velvet Teddy is gorgeous as a lipstick and blush. So is Maybelline’s Lip Ink Crayon in Lead The Way. I will pass on Jones Road.
I do the exact same thing! The Milani matte lipsticks are awesome as a blush. I think these were very overpriced because they weren't even long lasting. :/
I never heard of this brand but thank you for another great video. I think I’ll stick with color pop. It’s a great product at a fair price. I like that lip and cheek color on you though.
I'm wearing all of the Jones Road products in the video too! But this time I applied the foundation with a brush and was able to get a little bit better coverage. I did use extra concealer as well (Milani Conceal and Perfect) to make sure things were evened out. I'm not wearing any powder because I wanted more of a glowy look. :)
Bless you Jen you always give a very honest and comprehensive review , I’ve somehow missed this review , I’ve seen others , but really wanted to get your take on the Jones rd line , I love Bobbie Brown , but I think the WTF , is misnamed WHAT’S THE POINT would be much more accurate name for the product ! You’ll have to excuse my candour , imma Brit Scottish actually and we are much more to the point than English people who tend to be more polite. My thinking is if you want a no make up look then ,why not just save a multitude of pounds / dollars and don’t put any or minimal on that makes more sense to me ? Like you I have a very pale and cool complexion ,and I want coverage from whatever foundation is wear ( I do understand that Bobbie has a lovely golden clear skin shade so I get how this could work for some women similarly blessed ) however there seems little point spending in money and time putting it on for little result . I liked the eyeshadows ,but as you quite rightly pointed out you can get that look or better from an inexpensive brand . I just want to say you haven’t put me off the brand , more endorsed what I was already thinking , your review was solid as ever sorry if I sound rude I m just to the point , lol some of us could never be a reviewer 😂😂😂😂😂 but you are brilliant thanks .
You look GORGEOUS! So radiant! Wow! Are you wearing the Jones Road product? 🌸💕 Your skin looks so so lovely. You’re always pretty, but you look so beautiful
Yes I am! I applied the WTF with a brush and got a tiny bit more coverage and then I used my Milani Conceal and Perfect to add additional coverage to the areas I need it most. :)
This line is definitely for mature skin, especially dry mature skin. The sheer coverage is purposeful because less is more when it comes makeup on skin that is 55+ when fine lines are more exaggerated or there are wrinkles. I can definitely see a difference in your before and after because everything looks more even and glowy. The YT ads I have seen either show Bobbi or a mature model. Obviously younger people can wear too; I am am curious myself because I have really embraced the natural look and often don't wear foundation anymore. I am just thinking this may be too moisturizing for me.
Hi Jen, I don't know if you know this but the ZOEVA foundation you love is on cult beauty, which I think ships to the US. Just though you'd like to know :)
Thank you for your honest review. I have seen some of the other videos but I feel like the ones doing the reviews are not who this makeup was made for.
Thank you so much! It's just the Jones Road products, haha! Plus I added a bit of the Milani conceal and perfect concealer to even things out more because the Jones Rd doesn't have much coverage. I do like the way it makes my skin look plump and glowy!
How do the Clinque chubby blushes go in terms of longevity Jen? I have some of the chubby lip balms which l enjoy, never thought to try the blushes! Great roundup, your alternatives prob appealed a bit more for me ❤
Hi Jen, thank you for the review of Jones Road, I always appreciate your honesty with your reviews. I really trust what you say. I have seen quite a few reviews about the foundation, with the exception of maybe two of the reviews, most seemed kind of unsure of how they felt. Since you do have dry skin, that is also another reason why I relate to your use of the products. Thank you for the alternative recommendations too 🙂
Jen I was wondering if you would consider doing a Danessa Myricks color fix review, I get such opp. Reviews. your concerns gel with what I want so would be exciting if you could consider it ❤️🙏🏽 I really want to try some but don’t know what to expect. am staying away from this one even though I am a 53 y/o. BB products are amazing on me but lasting power is weird.
