Been going on two years with the boxes and all of their tools I do custom woodworking and my god I love them

Give us a 3-drawer box with a top handle and you got a winner. When my Festool Systainer/Sortainer boxes were stolen, I switched to the PackOut drawer's, and I absolutely dread the fact that they don't have top handles like the Festools. Lifting up a fully packed 3-drawer from the side grabs is an absolute back killer, whereas with the Sortainer you could use the top handle and lift with your feet instead.

@steffendetrick9403

This thing is basically a modded pack out which is cool but they missed a big opportunity if they had not been so focused on being like the pack out with more features. That bottom trunk is the Achilles’ heel of the pack out. Flex could’ve used this opportunity to release a bottom trunk with access on the front instead of the top. Love my pack outs hate having to unstack them to get something from the bottom. Milwaukee please we want a new 22 inch rolling tool box(bottom box) accessible from the front similar to the new Packout cabinet. That’s one of the biggest complaints with the pack our system.
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 2 года назад
Those are very good points. It is a pain to retrieve anything out of the bottom box when it's stacked. Thanks for watching.

@Dead_Oak_Crafts
@Dead_Oak_Crafts 2 года назад
it's not a perfect solution, but the packout dolly can be used as the wheels, then you can stack whatever you want on it. So, dolly, then drawers galore, and some organizers gets things done.
@steffendetrick9403
@steffendetrick9403 2 года назад
@@Dead_Oak_Crafts yeah I did that and the problem with that the weight shifts a lot on it but the biggest problem with it is I open the middle box with the top one or two boxes still on top and you can’t do that with the dolly. I will say this about flex they do their market research and they listen to people. Everything on their modular storage unit is a pack out modification. I would not be surprised if flex answers this call before Milwaukee. But thanks for the suggestion hopefully Milwaukee will start listening to their customers I’ve seriously been considering adding another tool platform.

Think they need to lower the prices a bit. You can get into the Milwaukee 3 box set up for the same price, and I still think the Packout is slightly superior to these. I do like the fact they've thought of "OEM" tool holding, and exterior accessories, but I feel the box-2-box attachment is vastly lacking over Red's design. Like was mentioned by a previous commenter those little half brackets are ripe for getting ripped off, and on top of that being on the sides means you have to remove the whole stack to get a box off when they're packed in tight on the sides. Really the tool/battery, and exterior holders are the only advantages these have over the Packout, and you can get pretty much anything you can imagine aftermarket for the Packouts.
@bluemantom77
@bluemantom77 2 года назад
Made by the same company for them as Milwaukee DeWalt Ridgid. Keter basically this is a combination of the world's tough system 2.0 in Milwaukee's pack out and a lot of ways if you working with the company that makes them you can pretty much come up with different design concepts that fit their needs as long as they're going to pay for the boxes to be manufactured

Great review as always! Those flip up tabs would eventually get busted off in my work world. Looks like they would be good for the DIYer or home owner. I have one Packout rolling set up and one Rigid rolling set up. They have both proved to be extremely durable with 5 years of hard use in negative 40°F and 120°F plus, heavy rain , snow and ice.
@winkletown8828
@winkletown8828 2 года назад
Usually things only get broken due to careless or reckless behavior. Invest in these boxes and I bet you don't let people throw em around or mistreat them. Homeowner or DIY has no business investing in a system like this. Using marketing wank to explain something just makes everything you said sound as fictitious as the terms "pro-sumer, DIY'er and metal latches on plastic boxes makes sense" 🤣 there's only two categories of consumers in the tool world, professionals and non professionals. Let's end the endless nonsense of marketing wank terms and just call it what it is yeah!?! We're supposed to be adults. I'm not saying that the plastic mounting points are a good thing either. I'm sure if I put my sockets in one box and took off rolling it around, it wouldn't stay connected very long 🤯, so despite all the beautiful features and functions, the whole "everything is plastic" thing just turns me off entirely at this price point. I'll save 50% ish and grab the Ryobi setup, at least the mounts aren't just a tiny area of focus 🤷 and if or when they fail, you can't get too upset because you didn't pay steel box money for plastic.
@gordowg1wg145
@gordowg1wg145 2 года назад
@@winkletown8828 You DO realise there's a HUGE range in "plastics" and their properties, and properly applied they can easily outperform steel/aluminiun for durability in many applications? One big weakness is increased brittleness at very low temperatures, though, so if that's common in your winters, metal may be better. On the other hand, metal can usually be more easily dented and damaged and will always be susceptible to rust and corrosion, especially if near the coast or salted roads. Look at what YOU need for YOUR applications, and pick what's best for YOU - but make sure it's an informed decision.

I think Flex has a couple of novel features that packout does not for instance the lift struts, the drill bit/screw bit stacking and storage. I think when Milwaukee finally releases new bit holder cases these will address some of the flaws packout has had. I think flex connect system is slightly wobbly versus packout which has many contact points when engaged. All in all its a nice system Flex has created.

Not one review I watched mentioned the silver metal hook on the backside of the bottom box. I have this setup and most of the tools. One major problem is you can only get this at Lowe’s. My local store doesn’t stock all the stuff. Lowe’s website makes it a challenge to find the accessories like the battery holders, which are on back order. So far I have only found one inch bits for the impact driver. You can get longer ones in those kit boxes. I never went red but moved from 18v yellow.

No a lot of times when companies come out with a product they will have embargoes where media units get sent out and media can’t post a review or unboxing, it’s common in a lot of industries. I would guess at least a month given I haven’t seen a retailer online have them available for pre order. I haven’t been inside lowes for a bit to check in store but they don’t have a page for them online.

Having the battery and charger options like that is very neat, but would it be practical to have a dedicated 'box' with an option of 110/220V* inlets that an extension could supply power to, with internal sockets to connect chargers to? I was thinking that way it would be much more convenient to just place any discharged battery/ies on the charger/s ready to be charged when a power point was available without all the unpacking that would be required? *If there's a 12/24 V charger in the product line - at least the former SHOULD be available - it could be connected directly to the vehicles's electrical circuit, for charging going to and from jobs?

Man. I bleed red as red can get... Never been swayed to go yellow. I ALWAYS justify paying Milwaukee's premium, for no other reason than they produce the superior tool in every class. Let's be honest with one another... Milwaukee is as good as it gets with every product they produce. Quality, specs, durability, warranty, depth of line, trade focused, etc. DeWalt is the almost as big, little brother. And in America anyway, Makita is the black sheep. I'm not sure why though. Because honestly, in my personal view, Makita surpasses DeWalt on every single category I mentioned above, but places split hairs below Big Red in every category. But as a professional, any one of the big brands will get the job done. I just happen to prefer my milwaukee and in my eyes they are top dog. I know this is just my opinion but to be completely honest, I could argue with every category head to head if I put a Milwaukee tool against any of the competition. I carry M12 and M18 tools to the job site daily. That being said...... I love all tools. I buy all brands of tools. Yellow, green, blue, orange, the other red ones and everything else, including interesting offerings from harbor freight! I use, I abuse, I work, I play, I get shit done with every single color. BUT a few months back, I got a little curious and when I purchased my first FLEX tools, (turbo hammer drill and the higher end impact, one 5ah battery and a 2.5ah battery plus the lowest wattage charger), I was awestruck. I purchased them around February in anticipation for the stacked batteries. After seeing that the DeWalt power stack was a little monster, I couldn't wait to see what the new pouch cell flex batteries could do. I worked for months with the Flex kit I mentioned above as my daily drill and impact I still carry it to the site every day in my pack out. I never even ordered the flex stack battery yet. I still want one to see what it can do but the regular batteries have blown me away. As far as work goes on The daily all of my other impacts and drills sit tucked away right now and I proudly Rock the Flex set. They swim in a sea of red but they hold their own better than I imagined and I still can't wait to see what they do when I finally do order the stacked pouch battery. I look forward to trying some more Flex tools in the near future and seeing what they can do. Those boxes look freaking amazing. I have been checking Lowe's website once a week waiting for them to drop since they were first announced. I will probably never leave red behind but maybe from now on I'll be a guy who rocks both. Much respect to flex so far and for the future. Battles of quality this high between the top tier pro tools benefit us as end users much. Pushes for innovation and to one up each other means better, faster, stronger tools for us. And we all know that means more productivity equals less down time so more $$$in our pockets. Thank you FLEX, Milwaukee, DeWalt, Makita, rigid, Ryobi, Hilti, metabo, skil, HF, Bosch and everyone else. Sorry for the long rant Lol. Rock on and build everyone!

That first external rack you put on blocks your locks and can’t open the bottom box with that on.

Ugh!! Why do you have to be so observant? Actually, you can open it, but it was a pain. We moved the tracks around, so that's not the case now. We were just showing the rails being installed on the video to show how easy it is to build. Thanks for watching.

It seems as though you'd have to make an investment in all Flex brand tooling to make the most out of the available features and accessories. Doesn't appear to have multi-brand flexibility as far as some of the add-ons go. Still a nice setup though!
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 2 года назад
Actually, I think most of the accessories are pretty friendly to other brands. The level holder, tool rails, extension cord holder, will all work with different brands. You are correct about the battery and charger mounts. Thanks for watching.

Bought this Flex pack out a few months ago. Used on three projects. The latches between the top box and the middle box kept hanging up or not locking. Soooo, tried to call company service to get a fix. Wasn't asking for anything but a tech to walk me through the fix(maybe a replacement latch?). First, good luck getting through, they DON"T answer their phones. After a half hour hold the message comes on offering a call back. No choice gotta grow old on the phone or give up. No call back, so the next day I try again, same deal, but this time I get a cal back. Pleasant young lady hears the problem and takes all my info and says they are sending a new replacement unit!! Of course nothing took place, NO Replacement Unit, No Latches, NO NOTHING!!!! The product seems to be well made except for these few minor issues, however I would never recommend buying a Flex product. They have no customer loyalty.

Interesting I’ve seen this comment written out exactly the same way on 2 different Flex reviews almost makes you wonder if this is another company trying to make a competitor look worse.

they didn't think of drawers. all I want is a bottom box, drawers in the middle, and a top box that flips up.

Thanks for review,, but the company that makes them so you can get your tools without unstacking them all over a customers home , that's the one I'm buying. Till then I'll keep using my 10 year old Rigid tool boxes. They are easy to stack and unstack. You do realize one person can't carry a whole set up , up stairs ?? 🤓

Im not implying if its a good or bad thing but they look so close to Milwaukee, Are they the same company??
@Shoptoolreviews
@Shoptoolreviews 2 года назад
No, different companies. Chervon makes FLEX and TTi makes Milwaukee. Thanks for watching. However, these storage boxes could be coming from the same 3rd party manufacturer. Many of them are made from a company in Israel. Thanks for watching.
