Other people on the street are likely the ones that set it up for him. Supply the tents, lighting, sort electric etc and he'll get a few grand each 3 months. Partially agree. Big difference between nicking a packet of crisps from Tesco and stealing a car and getting in a chase, but kids don't have fully developed minds. When they were going through each step of what they did, they wouldn't have understood just how bad it is, and what the effects potentially could be. It may seem as if they have no regard for anything, but they haven't matured to the point where they are able to properly recognise and understand the effects of their behaviours.

This is clearly a situation with under 21’s where the police need to be legally empowered to administer on the spot corporal punishment for these kinds of offences - they would think twice about doing it again if they got a good hiding from the police - respect can only be engendered by the fear of being punished most severely, in order to be an effective deterrent against further offences - I’m old-school and a great believer in ultra strict and severe discipline and severe corporal punishment for these offences

yeah I thought that could be a possibility... unfortunately many think they're being safer going well below the limit even on a clear road with good conditions but in reality you become an obstruction in the road to other drivers - there's a reason you fail your driving test for driving too slow! Obvs the other driver may has some blame or be entirely at fault if it was another reason but I thought that could've been a strong possibility especially with it being night driving as well maybe nervous or eyesight. Before anyone spouts 'it's a limit, not a target' yes indeed it is and in some places the speed limit is way too high for the actual road (ie. some country lanes being 60) so you drive appropriately for the road. But in conditions suitable ie clear, dry, none bendy roads you should be making adequate 'progress' on the road otherwise you are an unnecessary obstruction for others to negotiate so thereby placing yourself and others in danger.

Driving to slow can be more dangerous than speeding in a lot of situations.@@ninafallows4015

dont need a warrant here to stop and search a person or a car, as for a defedants home if they allow acess the police have the power to search, had he refused he would have been nicked questioned while that is happening a search warrant will be apllied for and carried out while you are in custody so either way they will win.

Body camera footage is used in the UK and will have been used in this instance. The reason the police want his statement is to close the case, if they have to do a full investigation this can release the suspect on bail, with a statement made to police a protection order (defendant placed in a remand centre) can be put in place to prevent further escalation but in order to get help you need to help. Quid pro quo in essence and it makes sense. Also in the UK the victim is not prosecuting, they have no need to make any statement at all if their is sufficient evidence, not even on a body camera it could be anything and in domestic violence situations this is regularly used as people do not like to make statement at home. The victim has no power over whether or not the defendant is charged this is entirely upto the Crown Prosecution Service. It sounds like Australia doesn't respect your privacy at all and whilst for many they aren't bothered, those who are and innocent people suffer. And we do not have cops in Britain, this is an American word. We have police, pigs, feds, rozzers, tofts and a few other names but not cops.
