I don’t think her content is good or interesting and I am pretty sure she exaggerates everything she does to make it more fun but I have yet to see any indication that she should feel guilty or be involved in this man’s finances. They were strangers with no contract no history and really no common ground. I mean do fully you but at this point we have to admit that he is just using us to get rid of that inventory. Listen, I don’t like Mikayla because her lack of integrity grows with every check she deposits, but the majority of the problems lie with this man. He took out a 10k loan under the assumption that girl was going to love his product. What if she tried his tanner and text him back saying “hey, I appreciate what you’re doing as a small business owner but respectfully the product isn’t for me”? Worse- what if she got in front of her audience and said “I tried this self tanner from this indie brand and it’s gahhhhbehge, don’t buy it”??? Is that 10k loan still on her? People have different skin, different skin needs, and she isn’t obligated to lie to her followers for free or to spare his feelings. I get how he feels about his business. He wants his products to be seen, he wants his brand to be put on just like any business owner. But his ambitions do not open the door to entitlement. She didn’t come across his product organically, he manipulated her into feeling bad about not seeing his request amongst her millions of followers, and he clearly has never engaged in formal influencer marketing or else he would have sent a business inquiry to her and known her deal with the larger competitor was probably several weeks old before she posted a video (that takes time to edit). He made himself the main character knowing she would easily be slotted in as the villain. That’s unfortunately her reaping what she’s sown. What she did wrong was not ignoring this man like she did all the people who called her out for lashgate.

Exactly! He literally tried to bully her into doing a video to promote his product. He did not reach out to her and enter into a contract with her. He literally dried to bully and shame her into doing a promotional video for him. If I were her, I would not have even reached out to him at all, but he was using his followers to badger and bully her.
Okay, I said this on another creator's video about it: This is an example of why you shouldn't be reachable by the average person once you achieve some level of notoriety. Her account should be handled by a business manager or social media manager so that they can handle it in a professional capacity because this is how things get twisted and perception vs reality takes over. Using a business contact would give her a chance to vet and reject as needed because he asked all this of her FOR FREE. She was not obligated to do anything and peer pressure should not be the reason for making a business decision. What the actual hell is going on out here?!

Not to defend her at all, just imagine that she had a few brand deals and scheduled posts which have contracts to where she can’t post a video because it may be a competitor. Either way, she didn’t gain anything from the agreement and she knew this and moved accordingly.
I considered that too. If the other company took his idea, approached creators that had previously mentioned him and sponsored her after he posted he wanted her to try his product it would not surprise me if they had an exclusivity clause preventing her from mentioning him specifically for months.
I encourage people in the comments to Google the difference between a promise and a verbal contract. A contract MUST have an exchange (ie consideration) in order to be binding.

I wouldn't have stocked up on product until after she posted it, and if she posted a review disliking it he probably would've cried swearing she was lying. He should've stopped engaging with her months ago and I have no sympathy because just using her name in the caption of a video gives him more engagement than he ever got before. Staking $10K on someone doing something they’re not contractually obligated to do is already odd. This reminds me of the debacle where Marlena Stell claimed she had thousands of MUGxJaclyn Hill palettes made but had to throw them out because JH never signed the contract. Business 101- you have nothing to stand on without a fully executed contract!!! Since he didn’t have a contract for Mikayla to post his product then he had no logical reason to get this loan. If he could get the loan that quick then he could’ve waited until the video was posted to go get it. And once she didn’t post the first time he should’ve moved on to another person and had a real contract. Having all your inventory rely on one person’s video is insane!
His first mistake was that he depended on someone who was already untrustworthy to promote his product. I wouldn't have taken out not nary a loan until I at least saw the video myself. He prematurely took out a loan with the HOPES that she would post the video. Unfortunately, he put himself in debt. I hope he's able to recover from this and that he learns his lesson.

This a tale old as time, influencer and business owner need to know that influences are not obligated to do anything especially if paperwork and money hasn’t been exchanged. The gesture would of been nice had she stuck to her word but again she was not obligated, also as a business owner he was making premature financial decisions ie say she reviewed your product and didn’t like it you still would of been 10k down her numbers of followers also don’t mean traffic. He thought that “untrustworthy” influencer was gonna be on his side is where he messed up as well as controversy thinking it would be good promotion for him is also another misstep he made. I always do my best to stick to my word, so that when I say something ppl take it to the bank and I don't have to argue with ppl.
