Fully agree I got my icar diagnostic for my Disco 3 a year ago, saved me thousands. Also peace of mind I keep it in the car even showed my wife how to use it so if she has an issue she can check to see if it’s serious when away from home.
I just found your channel and watched the first few of your D3 videos. Totally agree, the icarsoft LR3.0 pays for itself. I have a D3 and a D4, its helped me a lot. Instead of throwing bits at a car and reading forums for possible causes, it tells you exactly what the issue is. If you havent already done so, give your MAP sensor a clean, it will be full of carbon. Undo 1 hex screw and a rag is all thats needed - should get rid of the smoke that remains.
Agree totally, good bit of kit. Just gotta be sure that you do your checks & purchase from an authorised seller. Just spotted this via google search >> "Bavarian Dominator - Review Centre"....... lucky escape lol
Great Video, Keep them coming, I went down the Gap IID Tool route, I had problems with the air suspension and Hands Free phone connection, saved me loads of money and time.
Hi, plus 1 regarding the gap iid , expensive but also saved me a fortune from suspension recalibration, live data etc , see there around £450 but seeing JLR are charging around £200 just to plug there scanner in they soon pay for themselves , along with not having to wait for an appointment, gap iid customer service is also second to none, based in Canada the staff there have always been extremely helpful , normally responding within 24 x hours

That's a strange thing for the icarsoft to say - VIN not programmed etc, you'd prefer it to say no fault found. Thanks for the info on the icarly, never heard anything positive about them on the JLR's. Good video, have subscribed!
Now that I've seen this video, it take away some of the worry of owning a D3/4 and possibly looking at high repair bills. Also means you can keep the cowboys at bay!
Autel AP200 is like Carly but has a land Rover setup equivalent to the icarsoft (which I have for Mercedes) However, it can add modules like Carly and costs only 80 quid. I have used it for all the systems on my RR Sport (LR3) and it has done the steering, EPB reset, all sorts.
I have the same model. Works well, especially for air suspension inactive faults. But I still have to use it weekly… so no, it’s not once for all lol. That said, it’s worth the $100 I paid for it. 2003 L322 175000 miles.
Interesting. I have an Icarsoft, had it a year and the only issue I have had is that I couldn't successfully code in my new injectors on my Puma 2.4, but it may have been due to the numbers not being very clear on the new injectors (IE I put them in wrong) and not down to the unit at all. Recently I've seen a lot of the Carly 'ambassadors' you mentioned and have to admit believing the hype and wondering if that would have been a better option. After this video I'm happy with my choice, thanks! By the way, if anyone knows how long the 2.4 takes to learn new injectors I'd be grateful, there is contradictory info online...

Hi. A query for you if you please. Can this version of the Icarsoft do the following: •program new key remotes •Calibrate the suspension height sensors •display live data from the compressor, ie pressure in the gallery, temperature of system and valve positions in valve blocks •monitor parking sensors and adjust their distance settings •modify CCF to add replacement ECUs and instrument clusters I can see yours is a diesel so you may not know or be able to test but as my D3 is a V8 petrol, can this tool: •monitor LRFT & STFT •display spark plug coil output •display O2 sensor live data All the above can be done by a GAP IID tool but they are twice the price of the iCarsoft. However if its a more capable tool then its worth the extra money.
It's fairly comprehensive but quite a few of your items would only be covered by a pro spec tool. We have a new one coming soon to test - I'll see if that covers them.
Here's a sample of how I use iCarsoft: *Problem* _I find I have to turn the key twice or three times to get started in my discovery three. I suspect it maybe a fuel pressure issue and this can be checked with iCarsoft_ : Fuel Pressure - cold reading 0.4 bar (normal reading 0.5 bar Haynes 4A1) *Steps* Diagnostics -> land rover -> v11.15 -> Discovery -> 2005 -> diesel v6 -> manual -> diesel v6 -> View Data *Results* Fuel lift pump Fuel Lift Pump Power (low pressure pump) Fuel Injection Pump (high pressure pump) Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Injectors 1- 6 Glow Relay Engine Oil Temp ============== *Problem* I suspect one of the calipers maybe sticking on one of my wheels. Thus reducing fuel performance among other things. *Steps* Diagnostics -> land rover -> v11.15 -> Discovery -> 2005 -> diesel v6 -> manual -> ABS -> View Data *Outputs* Wheel Speed Sensors Wheel Direction Rotation You can see in real time the wheel speed of each wheel. The wheel with the slowest speed was the wheel with the sticky caliper.
With the smoke out the back, have you thought of using Terraclean or something similar in terms of an engine clean? I did it with my old Disco 3 and it worked wonders and I got a slight fuel economy improvement as well.
I bought the icar Diagnostic tool for my 2003 TD5 Defender. Unfortunately it doesn't recognise the vehicle. It does, however, work on a 2.2lt puma. Can't get any reply from the icar supplier! Any suggestions??
Hi I have the same troubles in my Disco 3. I have changed the mass air flow sensore but still the same allarm. Also I have the P0087-00 how can I fix this? Thanks
I have got hold of a D3 but .. The last owner had the handreak unit replaced and now it wonr start..he thinks he damaged something when he cut the cables..anyone know what that would have done?
Leave Land Rovers in the showrooms, biggest load of junk cars that cost a fortune!, basically remember this "if you can't afford a new Land Rover, you definitely can't afford to own an old one" I'd never buy a Land Rover again, beware people, you have been warned.
