First, I would like to say that his tone is monotonous, and that it is that way to show professionalism. Second, one could argue that war for resources us the mist civilized war could be, for often they are fought for only the difference in minds that is what truly makes one a human. Tertiary, and lastly, are the lives of those who would kill you worth more than the lives of the men who would fight against that?

Manny Calavera Approximately 2% of US oil comes from Iraq whereas more than 50% comes from US territory and Canada. So, NO we did not go there for oil.

I think only because of that, coz if u see Iraq sells over 44% of its oil to China and 20% to France, Bush went it to finish saddam, something his father dint do. American companies could never do any business in Iraq or benefit with any major reconstruction work coz saddam was followed by a massive insurgency and this ISIS, only American security companies benefited from this and yes China. Professor so you say let enemies of the US control the oil instead ?? Even if we establish a way to be completely non dependent on oil we will still want control if war breaks out wouldn't we ? Did you learn anything about what happened to Germany in ww2 our armored divisions air Force and navy are all in need of oil if something goes down so is our enemies ?

@@13579hee America is on one of the largest oil reserves in the world. We don't tap into our reserve in case of a national emergency like WWIII so we can self sustain. America didn't profit from oil in the Iraq war, we wanted to establish that our enemies didn't get it. We get the majority of our oil from Saudi Arabia.

@@mohammadismail7599 I fully understand your frustration, Mohammad. The US has made a mess of that region, and you have every right to be angry about it. (I get angry about it too, by the way. I don't know why it needed to come to that.) But it wasn't about physically stealing oil. That was never the goal: The US was trying to prevent Iraq's invasion of Kuwait from destabilizing the world oil market. (There were also concerns that Iraq would not stop there and would end up creating a big mess in the region, well, you know, just like the US ended up doing.)

No the US did not go to war with Iraq for oil. First things first, the only reason why Iraq wasn't exporting oil to the US was because the US Embargoed Iraq. If they wanted Iraqi oil, they could've just lifted the Embargo. Secondly, Most of the Iraqi oil went to other countries oil companies, not American ones.

By that logic, the allies in World War 2 were evil for all the collateral damage they did upon millions of people. The wells in Texas don’t even come close to the supply and market power held by OPEC. We didn’t go there to “steal” it per se but we did go in order to obtain control over the flow and production of it and to increase our influence over the global oil market. Regardless, we invaded another country to empower ourselves.
