I am a retired captain from a mid-sized department, and I also taught law enforcement leadership all over the US & Canada. As a result, I have seen scores of these types of videos over that time period. As you might guess, the range of quality in those productions is pretty wide. This is one of the very best I've seen. Not only do you show the "fun" or "exciting" parts of the career, but there is a great emphasis on the message of the SO. The technical filmmaking is awesome (I know, it's "only" an industrial film, but hey - art is art), and it has just the right touch of humor to be engaging without making the deputies and employees seem buffoonish. Respect is important in this career field, but so is knowing the people that serve your safety needs are human beings. This video hits all the right notes in that as well. So, BRAVO!

It is strange that the sheriff answer to the voters. Which means he or she works for the people. Funny though that the deputies don't believe they work for the people. I have had a deputy and even a supervisor tell me they don't work for the people, citizen and as well tax payer. Who they work for may not be chain of command, but in a way it is. Who pay your salary if it is not the tax payer?.
