Indeed, you might think that the world's greatest detective would'nt believe in the supernatural. But L never dismissed the idea that Kira could have been God, in the first few episodes.
@@rizkianugrahsembiring3203 See the problem is that , Season 2 was planned and L and Light both should have been there one As a shinigami and L will be alive but since now Death note in baned in Japan , the production may not bring the 2nd season so unfortunately s1 is assumed to be the end.So I don't have a clear answer
@@melonsmasher8252 i don't think so, light just had the advantage having a shinigami, i mean he could basically just wipe out any clues on him, if anybody he felt was a threat their gone, L was smarter as he already knew light was kira for a long time now, but is not like he could just send a shinigami to kill light, because unlike light he works in a justice type of way, where lights could just kill anybody for suspicion or just because he feels like it, so no it was never fair from the beginning.
@@davidares286 I'd have to say your wrong Light's shinigami was never actually on his side Light was really really smart So much so he played everyone including making a shinigami commit suicide I don't think L is smarter than light, even tho there was no way he could prove he was Kira And he couldn't figure out that light was the one to add the 13 day rule In death note
@@marohodiku8304 i don't think so, like i said light always had the advantage because the game was set more to his side, even tho L knew light was Kira, he couldn't just kill him there, if he did L would had win and we wouldn't be talking about this, but L unlike light couldn't just do that because he wasn't like light, light coud just kill some one over suspicions or because he just felt like it, he didn't have to proved nothing to no one like L, and yes the shinigami was never really on his side, but he still went and did lights work, light didn't even have to do the killings him self which would leave more evidence, he literally had to send some supernatural being to do it.
@@ExceptionalPizza after L died the story become empty is the only feelings because he is the only person who is mysterious . But for making story long writer did this.
@@Soni-sz5si what he did was actually right if he would not have killed the innocent people and would have killed only the big criminals who had no chance of repenting
@@Soni-sz5si L was very socially awkward and used to ill treat everyone who was not on his level of intelligence such as matsuda and we were not told properly about L’s backstory and since I saw the story from the perspective of light thats I think what he did was partially right
L knew he was gonna die. It's also explains why Mello did his self sacrifice for Near. Both are so prideful and determined to win they'll sacrifice their lives for it. I love the symbolism in this anime too, outside of the OST there's so many nice details that go overlooked being how small they are, like this scene exaclty. Truly a masterpiece anime no doubt.
I mean he knew as soon as people died without their names names or faces being shown public that he would die, it was a matter of time. He took a risk and was certain he figured out all of Kira's abilities and restrictions. Even so he held up quite well but alas hid mistake catched up with him
@@solidzack while that is true because he says that a couple times before this episode especially after he reveals himself to the other policemen. However I think in this particular scene he knew that light was going to kill him and as this video states, he talks about hearing bells which can correlate to death.
Also L said the bells could be A church or a wedding or a.... But light cuts him off before he could say another thing. I think the last thing L wanted to say was a Funeral symbolising his death.
Death Note is probably the most well written and well thought out anime. Most animes from Madhouse never fail to amaze me with all the tiny details in them.
I think the bells symbolize him going to a "new place". If he heard them when he started his life at the orphanage (probably a scared kid at the time) it makes sense to hear them when hes abt to die (also a scared adult)
Only if you don't pay attention to the series and you're uneducated... Judas washing feet is common knowledge, and we know only L can hear the bells, I found nothing new or of value here...
He knew he was going to die, even set a timer for a text saying “L is dead”. In the scene at the rooftop L asks Light if he ever told the truth in his life or if he was born like this. Hinting Light’s manipulative psychopathic traits. Most people would be defensive after hearing such a thing but Light gave another manipulative answer fitting his psychopathic personality. After that scene L asks the massage his feet saying “This is the least i can do to atone my sins” acting as if Light is a god while also referencing to Jesus and Judas. He hurts his foot and says “You’ll get used to it” before he tells Yagami it will be lonely since they will part ways very soon. In the dayabooks it is implied L knew Light was Kira even when saying “i am only %3 sure Light is Kira”. L himself was very manipulative and watching the series knowing that really changes the whole perspective.
L was too smart he knew he exactly what's gonna happen to him since he couldn't proved that Light was Kira at that moment even tho he knew already that Kira was Light and i have this feelin' that tho he got so many proofs that Light was Kira he just couldn't let Light die cuz kira was he's first and only friend, so for me he chose to die in the hands of his friend tho Light wasn't considered him the same way as L.
L telling Light that he's his first friend was just a lie. L never considered light as a friend and even disliked Light. I'm not mKing that up, it was said by the author of dn
L thought light was Kira very early on, when he 1st installed cameras in his house he was already suspicious and when light replied about the fake task force coming to Japan he was pretty sure then, and when he introduced himself in person in his school he was almost certain it was light but what he needed was undeniable evidence to catch light
L knew he would die sooner or later after he wanted to challenge the fake 13-day rule that would invalidate Light and Misa's alibi of undergoing extensive detention.
L didn't really hear bells, he just knew his life was coming to an end. He literally gave his life to expose L for his predecessors. He was that dedicated to exposing Light.
@@IrKeNoVa yes Bro I know Light Is Truly Correct But at This Case Still I Fell Sad 😢 For "L" .And Yes I am New But I Have Watched All Till 37 Episode's Bro.
The episode’s tone, lighting and the tension made the episode feel like a glass bridge thats under so much pressure that its cracking all over but hasn’t yet shattered And then it did lol
When Light regained his memories from the death noth higuchi had, I believe that is when he knew he lost. L had always known it was Light, which is why he kept him so close. Once light regained his memories, L quickly notices the change in his demeanor and catches on to the fact that something to do with the notebook had changed light thus allowing him to win
Yup, something that I notice when watching the series is that once L was positive that Light was Kira he always watched him closely when talking to him and said things not only for Light to slip up, but to see if he could figure out Light’s next move. He was waiting for a moment to catch him in the act by having light give away his own plan even if he didn’t “slip up.” The episode where they discovered a second Kira kinda tells it in its own, when L mentioned a second Kira he looked at Light to see how he would react.
I personally interpreted “it’s sad we’ll be parting ways soon” as L admitting defeat. There’s nothing he can do except possibly trigger the execution of Light except dying and hoping a Wammy child can beat him.
He wasn't admitting defeat. He knew that the war had only begun. If he had completely given up, there'd be no reason to send the file to wammy's household. That's why light hallucinated about seeing his "spirit" in the final ep. L was giving him an "f-you"
@@blair2050 I also used the word hallucination. L wasn't actually there it was symbolism for how L defeated light even after death. It had been shown over and over again that light was still fighting L as long as his successors were alive. "Near and Mello.... they're both from wammy's household.....so I'm still fighting L" "N!? Is this some sort of sick joke? But... what's this feeling? It's like he's still around " Both quotes from light yagami
@@notjeff7833 but sad that real L is not N . I know L defeated light not N and mello. Because L know that he will die soon so he have to plan after death. I miss L character and voice after 25th episode. The story actually become empty and the suspension of the story gone.
@@Soni-sz5si he actually makes three appearances in death note short stories (C-kira story, L-one day, L-whammyd house) and also wins against light (without near and Mello's help) in the japanese live action called death note: the last name(not to be confused with the Netflix one) He is also in death note: another note and L: change the worLd but we don't "see" him because both are novels (which are arguably inferior to manga)
when light holds the death note, L knows. but he lied about shocked shinigami. and I think, L already knows everything, but he thinks it's too late, and Light is still playing.
Kira had a natural advantage over. Knowing the about shinigami death note and all that stuff. L simply doesn't even know how he even kills people and he would have cough him without the fake rule Kira made. He was just too much for L. Near picked up the work L did and finished it.
Near got lucky, even he admits it, had he not got lucky Light woulda killed everyone in that warehouse and won. Also L had his own advantages, Light just utilized his better and beat L.
Ls death is one of the saddest deaths in anime. I literally could not accept his death and was hoping he would always come back because he was just so OP but sadly he did not. RIP Lawliet
Glad to see someone point out the parallels to when Jesus washed the feet of Judas! Never seen anyone mention it before but it's an important and beautiful connection. L was a true hero, he believed in his sense of justice so deeply that even though he knew Light was Kira from the beginning, he still did everything he could to trap him with irrefutable evidence instead of taking matters into his own hands. He never compromised his values. One of my favorite anime characters ever!
I actually thought that L wiping Light's feet was just a gayish moment between them until I saw this video...😅 But man I got goosebumps after watching this
Nope, it’s a reference to the Bible when Jesus washed Judas’s feet before Judas betrays him. I really like the symbology and references like that, really drives home the point of the anime
When I was rewatching Death Note my friend was rewatching it with me and they were talking about how this was so sad and how it was easy for Christians to understand. They literally said "HE'S WASHIN' THE FEET HE'S GONNA DIE!" 😭
Yeah that was my favorite scene and it wasn’t even in the manga. Probably the only scene they added in. It basically was showing that L knew Light was Kira, but he had no way to prove it and knew he wouldn’t be able to.
Nah I’ve seen smarter, people overestimate him He’s smart, but light is just a bit smarter in my opinion. And for example, Johan Liebert is smarter. Kiyotaka Ayanokoji is smarter. Etc. but ig I’m made my point by now 🤷♀️
L's death is tragic, but every time I make myself rewatch it, I tell myself that, if I watch the other episodes with L in them, he'll be alive again. Moral of story, fictional characters never die if you keep them alive in your heart, in your mind, or in the episodes
If I was instead L's place what would I have done...👇 As... When L suspected light of being Kira....and then told Light's father that we need your son's support for this kira case.... Now the main part...we know that for Death note to work we need the real name and the face of the person... So L could have told his real name to only light Yagami...and then told everyone in the task force investigation that...I have told my real name to Light Yagami and if in the future I die...then it confirms that Light is kira....
I have a theory about Death note! I think that ray and Norman from the promised Neverland are L and Near! Look at L compared to Ray and then look at Norman compared to Near
@@Idk-raindrops ? Not at all. There’s nothing similar about Ray and L or Light? Norman is even worse. Because he has nothing in common with all 3 of them.
If you don’t have autism no because normal people become immersed in what there reading or watching meaning there not assuming what’s going to happen because the writer knows how to write well there assuming how the character reacts based on what they know of that character it’s like irl you don’t assume own thing of someone you don’t know just because others have done it you assume something based on what you know of that person and how they react respond think etc pretty much looking threw there eyes not your own
THANK YOU!!! NOTHING that this man says in the video is new to about 95% of people with a brain. I absolutely hate how anyone can pretend to sound smart nowadays and put 0 effort into their content, simply because they know that the dumbasses of RU-vid will eat it up.
Omg when Misa said, "I couldn't imagine a life without Light," and L replied, "yes that would be dark," was the moment I realized I was in love with this character.
I don’t know what the fuck is going on with those comments. I think in spin off, where L worked on BB murder cases there was a hint that L has clairvoyance. Some comments talk about L faking his Death. Neither Manga, nor anime ever suggest that. Manga’s run was extended and some people believe that it was planned by the author to end with L’s death. There are changes here and there in anime, but it mostly does follow manga. L himself never dismissed Supernatural and BB for some reason was born with Shimigami eyes. Which was suppose to explain his reaction to mention of Shinigami in Death Note. While Death Note universe clearly has supernatural, Death Note’s religions are also very clearly full of shit. Describing few possible real supernatural concepts, but not offering full picture or insight. After all, the line “All humans go to nu, after they die.” says it all.
L even mocked Light in this feet-washing scene by saying "It's the least I can do to atone for my sins" allowing Light/Kira to see that he knew he was going to be killed by Light because of Light's twisted perspective of justice: anyone in my way dies, even if they are at heart, good. That's the genius behind L, he is able to think like Light and get in the head of Light in order to catch him (know it was him) and figure other things out about him. He even refrences in the show multiple times how he and Light are similar in a lot of ways. Some examples are when he says that Kira is childish, and so is he. He also says the worst kinds of monsters in life are ones who always tell lies, saying that if he were to ever encounter such a monster (Kira/Light) he would likely be eaten by it, because he himself is that monster. So in other words, L being able to think like Kira is an advantage to him also because he is similar to kira in some ways. I LOVE THIS SHOW.
