You missed the biggest 1 of all…….NBA legend Bill Walton!!!! Another is Mike Lookinland, who played Bobby Brady on The Brady Bunch. He is now, among other things, the keyboard player and lead singer in a Dead tribute band called The Pranksters.

Interesting how Don Henley sings of seeing a Deadhead sticker on a Cadillac and sometimes a Black Flag sticker on a Cadillac in The Boys of Summer track. Great song. I like any reference to the Dead usually. 😁 We are everywhere.
NICE!!! 1968 was such an amazing soundspace for the Dead...still rocking bizarre and long-assed Dark Stars into St. Stephens into The Eleven (The 11 is my hands down favourite Dead tune of all time!!) Particularly the version of The Eleven on Live Dead...in fact, I'm off to listen to it for the 3rd time today...
I was legit surprised to see that King was a Deadhead; whenever he references the Dead in his books, it's in a negative way (journalist from Misery wearing a Dead shirt being run-over by Annie's lawn mower, the 2nd-lover from Cujo who trashed the house singing Sugaree, etc.). Since I do enjoy his work, I'm super happy to hear that he's on the bus!
Just today some guy asked me what song I was singing. I had just stopped singing "Cassidy" & had just started singing "Viola Lee Blues". I told the guy "An old Grateful Dead song, you probably wouldn't know it". He said "Oh ok, keep on truckin". I got to see Jerry play with the Dead a little over 70xs. First show was in 1987, I had found the book "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" at my school library, & it inspired me to see them play.
It is (was) really hard not to love the Dead! I was fortunate enough to see 18 shows during the late 80’s & early 90’s while I was in grad school, residency, etc. While I wanted to see more shows, time/money/commitments at that time prevented me from doing so, but I consider myself exceptionally fortunate for spend what little time I could with them. They were magical poets, storytellers and musicians who’s reach spanned across all cultures, races, nationalities, individuals, political affiliations, ideologies and beliefs and brought us all together in an indescribably positive, happy, loving, accepting experience that will NEVER happen again. God bless grampa’ Jerry up there in heaven and all the amazing people who helped bring together generations of people!!

George R.R. Martin got some inspiration from Dire Wolf. Heck, Robert Hunter even wrote a song for the soundtrack for a movie adaptation of one of his early novels that was never made. WE ARE EVERYWHERE

51 year old deadhead here that saw the boys 24 times between 1987-1993. Saw The Jerry Garcia Band several times. Garcia/Grisman a couple times, Ratdog, and 2013 was my last hoorah having seen Further 3 times that 40th year of my life. I wouldn't trade those times for anything. When you finally realize the music doesn't make the happening. The happening makes the music. The you'll notice right off that The Deads music isn't something that you hear. It's something that you feel in a range of every emotion. From your favorite childhood Christmas memory to the devastating loss of a loved one. The band is gone damn near 30 years now, but the tunes continue to help me get over the hump. Wow, man.. What a long, strange trip it's been.

GDF is everywhere that there is live music. Every time I go to a concert no matter who it is, I wear one of my GD tour shirts, and the number of people I run into is unreal. Went to see Pantera this summer, and I must have run into at least 20 dead heads.
My dad died 3 days ago and he was a huge Grateful Dead fan. He had it tattooed on his leg. He actually named me after Casey Jones which if you don’t know it’s one of their songs. Rest in peace James (his name)
One time my friends and I saw Whoopie driving in a Jeep with the top down on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles. She wasn’t trying to hide at all and she gave us a really sweet huge smile when we rolled the window down to say hello. Whoopie is super down to earth 🌍.
Not anymore, sadly she's turned evil and racist and screams at anyone who calls out her irrational hateful behavior. A real nut case now days and if she was white, would have been fired and cancelled long ago.

George R.R. Martin (author of the Game of Thrones books) is also a professed Deadhead. He litters references to the band in his books, such as the "Weirwood" trees, a character Gerold Dayne goes by the moniker "Darkstar" and I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting lol
