I traveled to Dubuque, Iowa's Oldest Town! This is the birthplace of Iowa... did you know this about Dubuque? Founded by Julien Dubuque in 1833. There's more than corn in Dubuque, IA! This town will surprise you as there is more to see and do than I thought there would be. Enjoy a ride on the world's shortest and steepest railway. I also visited the Hotel Julien where Abraham Lincoln stayed. Rumor has it that Al Capone owned this historical hotel at one time too.

As someone from Dubuque - this was a very nice video! Glad you stopped by. It's a shame you didn't cover Julian Dubuque's grave, the Matthias Ham House, The Arboretum & Botanical Garden or Eagle Point Park - but you showcased where you did go very well!

@@MaverickHayes @ Maverick Hayes i live in Dubuque and i had to laugh about the dark parking lot. Right away i thought you must of came during Fish Fly season. Lots of places will turn off there lights to help with keeping the fish flies to a minimum especially downtown and along the river. The elevator you road we call the 4th Street Elevator. And the Court house you pointed out has a Gold leaf dome.

I love Dubuque. Like just about everywhere, it has it's share of problems and quirks. Overall though, It is not that bad. All of my mom's side of the family is from there and I used to love visiting as a kid. There was always something to do and see. I need to go visit Dubuque again. Thanks for posting.

Comment 34 here: I am from NW Arizona. Two of my ancestors lived in Dubuque in 1836 and their daughter born there in 1837. They moved to a different NE Iowa area in the early 1840s but some of their relatives stayed in a suburb of Dubuque called "Peru Township".
