Yeah I was going to say that a ton of people would love the doll stuff. Yes it's more of a niche craft as opposed to a ready to go household item but there is a big community of people who would love it.
reminds me of when plague doctors supposedly used to stuff the inside of their long masks with herbs and such for the same reason, to fight off the plague
@@isabelleblanchet3694it impresses me that despite not really having germ theory yet, plague doctors did a pretty decent job of being protected for that time period. full body coverings of a (at least mostly) waterproof material, face entirely covered, gloves, etc. like a proto-hazmat suit.
Those "germ fighting" vessels are currently used with essential oils in closets, bathrooms, etc. It would be ever so handy if they had a little hole for a hanging ribbon. I have a small heart used for this purpose. Cedarwood oil keeps moths out of the closets, and citronella, tea tree, and others can be used to deter mosquitoes and food pests in the pantry.
You should do a few of the mouse dolls and the dolls as kits. Just like 2 each to see how well they sell. People like me love projects like that. I also like the flower pot.
Is this the hollow clay piece she showed with the three piece mold? Yours was stuffed with lavender? (I thought pomanders were only the clove oranges we make around the autumn season.)
Those doll ones my Auntie used to make and they sold SUPER WELL at markets as she would sell them as do it yourself kits & my Gran would do some of them up with dresses and outfits. I'd REALLY hang onto those because coming across them are few and far between and are beautiful when fully assembled! My Aunt still owns several of them done up of cows, ducks and pigs. I'd have killed for a mouse one as a kid! She used to have some really big ones too of large panthers & ducks. She recently found an unpainted one out of her shed she never finished so I donated to to my kids kinder as a raffle prize and SO MANY asked where I got it and if they could have one 😅 i felt so bad as my Aunt no longer does ceramics (she lost her shop and they just weren't selling at markets anymore so she sadly gave it away) but she still has MANY of them unpainted at her house! Maybe I can convince her to finsh some😂
I L❤VE the aroma dishes, being clay, the raw edge inside beautifully absorbs essential oils & you can even put some cotton fabric inside covered in the oils to make it last longer & smell stronger!
When I went to ceramics I made the butterfly planters, set of 3 sizes. And yes the pail was wood. I also made lots of the shell soap dish and sold them one summer at a craft bar with pretty little balls of soap (pearls) all wrapped up pretty with cellophane and ribbon ready to sell. I sponge painted the shell in graduating colors hoping they would blend, and they did. My friends mother, painted one with a tiny Manger set in the middle for a secret Santa gift at church.
Pomanders were often filled with things like lavender, other scented dried flowers or herbs and placed in drawers or wardrobes to make clothes smell nice. That mouse is cute and the flower pot is nice too.
Unfortunately the keyword in that definition is "supposed". We have realized by now that good smells don't prevent the spread of infection, hygiene does. At least I hope we have, although some of the -snake- essential oil salesmen out there want to convince you otherwise.

The mouse head would be cool as an apothecary bottle top..for like rat whiskers..or mouse ears..lol..some sort of potion ingredient or like in the emperor's new groove..where yezma has potions to turn ppl into animals..could be one of those..😊
The vase has those lines to imitate wood, so if it were colored with a brown background and everything else in vibrant colors, it would look beautiful!
The preventing infection idea comes from miasma theory, the belief that infection and illness comes from inhaling noxious odours. It's a theory that generally comes from before we had robust science on what actually makes people ill, like you hear of it around the time of the black death, but obviously many people keep up with these practices, whether because they believe them or because the practice served another purpose, like I can imagine carrying one of those around could be like having a perfume without having to apply it to the skin.
The lines are ment to be Tree bark coz its ment to be a fairy house plant pot by the looks of it. Also do you ever make your own molds or are they all just premade ones from gumtree?
Most of them aren't labeled when she finds them 2nd hand. So she cast them to learn what they are label them. A smash means it's just not for her, she may resell them. It's just dry slip so the clay gets tossed back in the bucket for another casting. Nothing bad happens to the actually mold.

As far as I’m aware pomanders are used to fight of ‘miasma’ meaning bad air. So it’s just a supernatural thing (I THINK) not actually useful. But smells nice!
