There was also that gag of Jerry moving his mouse hole to make Tom crash into the wall, which is sort of a swapped callback to "The Milky Waif". (Just had to fix that mistake. I actually forgot what episode that callback came from.)
This is what I love about Tom and Jerry. It’s good to see that the movie includes references and Easter eggs from the original show that we all know in love.
I can’t believe Warner Bros made this, the designs are cool, but I feel like if they went a little more realistic like Space Jam 2 it would’ve looked cooler
Nah. Seeing the characters realistic would look uncanny. I much prefer this Roger Rabbit-like approach where their classic 2D selves are blended with their classic real world set pieces.
@@charapresscott7750That was just a generic orphan girl rescue story that had nothing to do with Tom and Jerry. They even admitted that they wanted to cash-in on the success of the Disney Renaissance era.
Not only that But in The restaurant scene they come tô face with Their dog, The mad tiger from The tiger short and even The elegante grom their cartoon
One more fact : In the movie, in the beginning, Tom & Jerry were in the park showing off their talents with tom being very good at a piano and Jerry being very good at dancing, this is another reference from a Tom & Jerry epsiode about tom trying to lure jerry out of his hole by playing a tune with the piano
Tom and Jerry took up most of the movie's screentime, and many other characters also played roles in the story. The female lead also played the same archetype the humans did in the cartoons. It was still an entertaining Mouse Hunt story that even draws influence from silent comedies.
You clearly never watched any of the cartoons before, if you think they were just slapstick with no plot or context. Tom and Jerry have RARELY worked as character archetypes without humans, and they were usually placed around a house. This highlights it even further by placing them in the backdrop of a posh hotel, where Tom still teams up with a human companion to get rid of Jerry. The humans still play the straight man, and the hotel is still treated as a backdrop.
Literally, 70% of the film was not Tom and Jerry, they were just there Also, who am I rooting for? The main character, the blonde woman... Do I root for her? She's a terrible person, literally stealing someone else's job
@novawolf_gaming Tom and Jerry got the most combined spotlight in the film, and no, they were not just there. The movie is still a plot that centered around getting rid of Jerry, who is a pest wrecking havoc under a roof. It's a feature-length Tom and Jerry cartoon with the classic tropes and archetypes, which include the humans who have been a staple to their personalities.
Did you notice those four things in the Tom and Jerry? 4. The story sucks 3. The characters suck (besides Tom and Jerry). 2. Anything Tom and Jerry do is a reference at this point: from the simple sneaking around, to Tom’s Rube Goldberg machine. So what gives? You think I wouldn’t notice? 1. Speaking of gags in the movie, there are dozens of Tom and Jerry movies that came out before this one, and they did a far-far better job than this barebones movie.
