One important thing here. As an IT guy, I can tell you the need to have terabytes of data is to store files that require lots of space. 1TB = 1000GB. Our cellphones are up to 512GB at best, and we can upload several video files. If they have Terabytes of data, that probably means most of the data is video evidence, as that requires multiple terabytes of data, where as pictures and documents would just require gigabytes of data. So, why would he have that many videos?

My opinion as a Criminal Defense Lawyer in NY STATE court: They likely are asking for a trial date to run the Speedy Trial time. I’m a criminal defense attorney in NY STATE Court. State rules differ so i can speak too much on federal procedure. However, a defendant has a right to a speedy trial. On the state side, we monitor this extra closely when our clients are IN Custody. For example CPL 30.30(2)(a) allows us to file a motion for release and ask for the clients to be released due to the States failure to certify readiness for trial within 90 days of my client being jailed for a felony. If granted, the Judge will order the client released PRE- trial on either bail or his own recognizance. This is an alternate way to get them out. So yes, set that trial date!!! It doesn’t mean that we are ready lol. But we force the State to be ready and meet their burden!!

Yes the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added BUT the Feds don’t mess around. The Government has stated they are ready to go to trial today. The Feds wouldn’t bring an indictment unless they had their ducks in a row. Remember Cassie brought suit last November but the simultaneous raids didn’t happen until March this year. They had been doing an intensive investigation all during that time. ***By the way I recently found your site and you seem to be doing a great job of providing balanced information.

I would think that the court consider that the bail value being offered by the defence, all shiny bells and whistles, may have been paid for, even if a small part, by ill-gotten-gains.

Next May is very ambitious considering his team will have to go through all discovery and verify, investigate conduct interviews, etc. So his team will have to go through that terabyte of data as well. Cases like this can easily take a few years to prepare for. Therefore, he’s thinking he’s throwing off NY but he’s also rushing his team too. Not smart and very expensive for him.

I have served jury duty before on a case that involved multiple murders. That was pretty complicated as a juror to have to deliberate on all those charges. A decision has to be made on each charge pertaining to each victim separately! I can’t imagine how difficult this trial is going to be; having so many charges & so many victims! And the number of victims are increasing by the day! That trial is going to be a beast! Initially I thought I would love to serve on that trial but after considering how stressful & triggering it’s going to be (not to mention the possible dangers involved in serving on that jury) No thanks! Please don’t supeona me!
