Bad boy downfall was allowing biggie to be in harms way forcing him to Cali instead of allowing him to go to London or stay back in NY like he wanted

Biggie's early demise earned a mint for Diddy...He probably earned between a quarter to a half billion dollars off Biggies murder...hope he at least sent his mom a couple of dollars....Even the mafia takes care of the victims surviving family , after they have one of their own whacked, for whatever reason.
Most artists in the 90s was just glad to get a record deal and no one taught them about money and most of them sold their publishing for pennies on the dollar.
They should of knew better, had lawyers who were on their side review the contracts. But don't make this a generalization when yals Daddy Diddy did his own ppl this way.
@blackcherry6877 it wasn't the same in the 80s and 90s! This is common knowledge NOW but it wasn't then. These were kids from the hood trying to get rich.
Yes when u hungry u take anything and thats why must of the artists in the 90s had bad deals they didn’t look over nothing just signed and that how they got fuck
Mase was ignored when he went on his social media and on RU-vid airing out this issue. Nobody was listening to him. The so called fans all said he should get over it. A lot of Puffy’s hits were written by Mase. I am glad Gene spoke on this. Puffy went on The Breakfast Club saying labeling Mase a con artist for being a fake pastor and etc. Mase was so angry folks just dismissed him 😢
@@toineroseborough6990thing is, Gene been airing this out for a good while now. It’s just interesting and folks think he’s just coming to light because it’s coming up in their searches now. Kinda like the Mase situation. Nobody paid this man no mind until now. He been telling folks what it is for ages.
People saying “the artists should’ve known”, either didn’t come up in the 80’s and 90’s, or just don’t understand the art of manipulation and lack of resources. There was no internet, a lot of the artists back then were young and a lot of them had very little education. The CEO’s knew this and took advantage. Fast forward 30-40yrs. later, there’s mass information sharing to see the correct avenues, more educated people in urban environments, including artists. BIG difference….Artist back then were 100% INTENTIONALLY taken advantage of. EDIT: I see a few of you (primarily young folks born in different eras) don’t understand my comment. “Well others knew better, so should they have…”……Sure, some may have, but they were the anomaly, and also perhaps the lucky ones of the industries. What don’t you understand about intent from a conniver? An intentional lack of education by a corrupt American system towards the masses of urban black population (as well as other disenfranchised groups), poverty, and desperation? Dig deeper folks, and stop being willfully ignorant.
Yes. And when sending a demo tape to a record company could mean your music could be stolen all just because you wanted to get “on” for sake of this folks who where born after 2000 really shouldn’t comment on grown folks or sit back and take notes 🗒️. This is turning out to be way bigger I think any of us who watched and grew up watching this in real time could ever fathom. I now need lil Kim to come out and Mary J because I know they are aware of a lot.
Rest in peace to the legendary Mr. Lou Gossett Jr, one of the ones that paved the way for our people. We have to stop giving shine to these kind of people, and the ones that keep talking about them. How many more stories on him do we want to hear? Let's focus on some people that's made a positive difference in this world. This will go over a few heads, however that's okay the real ones know what I mean. ✊🏾
What’s crazy is how Mase came back around after all the drama.I was looking at a Diddy 2015 NYE party at Puffs crib and Mase was there dancing and chillin.
Lol. You gotta understand though, the Bad Boy Reunion tour was coming up around that time, Mase was probably being nice to Puff so he can get his tour money. But it don’t mean he was still brewing over the work he done for him, because after that tour, them two split for good after.
This makes me think about the Math Hoffa interview with Lord Jamar. Math was telling the story about an MC wrote a verse on a collab with Diddy, and after he finished rhyming the verse?... Diddy told him "Good...Now go write YOUR verse." ...BRUH!!!
that mc was jadakiss. i heard em tell that story before. The OG version of mo money mo problems was mase, big, and jadakiss. and it was supposed to be on mase album, after big passed puff told mase he was gonna put it on big's album and take jadakiss off and put himself on instead.
@@BosschickSherion3 it's a saying that goes "don't bite the hand that's feeding u"...amazing wat people are afraid to loose (money, cars, big houses, women, access) when dignities and moralities are tested. That's wat selling out is.
No he didn’t! He died being cocky partying only a few blocks from DeathRow headquarters..having a couple nights before sniggered with his midget cousin on LA radio “free styling” lyrics he never had the heart or bravery to speak when Pac was alive.
@@en.4392 You never seen a picture of biggie smiling around P diddy , remember a dead man can’t talk. I believe this diddy shit is way deeper than one can imagine !
@@trealnegus977 nah it’s the other way around and Big was getting ready to leave bad boy when he got killed cuz Big and Mase was about it stop fkn with him
@@SimianScience Exactly if you are too talented they would leave Puff. So puff sacrificed Biggie and became very rich bc of it. Puff even sent Shyne to jail to cover for him. He wants disposable people like Young Miami
The song was on the first Bad Boy soundtrack however Diddy also did a song for the second soundtrack with Nelly but it’s possible both were written for the first movie.
Mase did a Dave Chapelle….He clean walked away from millions and the media said they was crazy! Mase left puff and went to the Church and became a Pastor! They definitely did him dirty!
Funny people keep saying Gene should have told, but if Puff working with the three letter gangs, the prison industry and whoever Clive is backed by, tell me who Gene was suppose to run to.
Exactly 💯. People are mad that he’s talking but it’s people like him that are exposing the industry for what it really is. That era has run its course. Too many innocent lives sacrificed for nonsense.
One of the coldest things Puff did him, was leaving him stranded in LA after Biggie's murder. That is outside literally everything else he did him. The reality is that Mase could have been murdered cuz dudes was heated and that could have easily taken place if the wrong people spotted him
A little bird told me Chris was making changes to publishing at Bad Boy including lyrics he wrote for Kim and then ... Chris spat on an LA radio station *you ain't nobody until somebody* and then ... Chris went to the awards show and got stopped at a flashing red light on his way to Steve Stoute's party. Diddy gifted publishing rights to Mase, Faith, 112, The Lox, and Biggie's estate in *September 2023* . Wonder why? 🤔🤔🤔
I remember when No Way Out came out in early 97, thinking "why does Puff sound just like Mase?" What Gene is saying is no surprise to me. Just listen to the man testify what he saw.
I will never understand how people think when someone owns a company and business. They are responsible for you negotiating yourself a great deal. I'm the owner. Im getting the best deal for me. There are lawyers you can hire, and past history and experience to learn from and avoid signing bad deals. There is no freindship in business, It's not Puffys' job to make sure Mase signs a good deal. Young or not, it's on Mase and his team to get proper representation before the contract is signed. Mase ain't been living in a cave. He knew and heard of the bad deals other artists signed before him, yet he still signed without proper representation. That's on Mase all day. Puffy might be guilty of the latest charges, but when it comes to business... business is business. You gonna learn the hard way by losing money. That contract will be in my favor as much as I can make it. You better spend that little money and get representation, or I got cha!! Cause the only thing free I'm going to give you is a lesson in how to negotiate 😂🤣
Basically you are saying that morals and principles as a person should not come into play? I’m not going to take credit for something I didn’t do. But based on your logic it’s perfectly fine just as long as you call it business. Tell that to the older generations of people that has been scammed out of their homes from government and other vultures. This world is a terrible place especially with people taking advantage of people.
@@besstmanagement3768 are you a "stop bullying" person or are you a "learn how to deal with bullys" person? That explains this situation. Now I agree with you if he trusted diddy to get him a good deal but diddy or any business owner doesnt really owe you shit if you dont ask for it ... I think a bigger question is who took the most risk? Sometimes talent alone doesnt make money, it requires other skills that some of these artists dont have... So its hard to say what the ratio is .. thats like saying I mow the grass so pay me the most as the worker... but the owner bought the mower and got the client... so who gets what?
And that is all that anyone has to do with us. Give us something that we can use to go back to the hood to show off, and they get us every time. Most of us just want enough money, so we can feel like the big fish in a wine glass.
@@isurbrotherhot99 …. At work… every year around evaluation time…, we do an IDP ( individual development plan). Nowhere on the document does it reflect what your supervisors responsibility is regarding your INDIVIDUAL development plan. It’s all on you and up to you boo.
unfortunately you're right, but I think the hard feelings come in when Puffy (and Mercedes with TLC) say "we're family" constantly. The artist feel extra burned when they find out they're in a really dysfunctional family.
@@bluecrystalpalace … when you think about it, sometimes our own biological families are dysfunctional, so why would a “business family” … based on success, power, money, influence and sometimes… greed be any different
what bad boy song is gene referring to that mase wrote? was it shake ya tailfeather with nelly and murphy lee? cause i know cardan was writing for nelly at those times as well.
I’m also wondering which song it is? The song “bad boys bad boys, whatcha gonna do” is Bad Boys by Inner Circle. As for shake ya tail feather, that was on Bad Boys 2, and that wasn’t till 2003, if that’s the song he’s referring to, but it definitely wasn’t feels so good, that wasn’t on any of the Bad Boy soundtracks
*update* Mase left Bad Boy initially in 99, came back in late 2004, but shake ya tailfeather came out summer 2003, so I dunno what song they’re talking about
Back when there was no social media, artists learnt the business from others who are outside their label. Pac was putting big onto some game, Suge was putting Dre up to some game. In fact Suge was known as the artist savior as far as helping artists rectify their contracts and getting paid. He did the same for kci and JoJo, the doc etc
Man it feels so good to be me this morning, I ain't no billionaire but I am sleeping like a baby at night. Told your'll before not all money is good money. God 1st always, do no evil fear no evil
Seem like Diddy was hating on Mase cause Mase was a real Harlem cat he had everything the Harlem swag the look the waves the gift of gab the wordplay and he could rap well and had money he represented harlem fr. Diddy was born in Harlem but grew up in Mount Vernon so you can tell he idolizes the 80s era in Harlem but Mase is actually cut from that.
Mason and his entire family is and was born in Jacksonville FL. They fled to Harlem because his mom was leaving an abusive relationship with his father. They only had enough money to make it to Harlem when they were supposed to keep going North. If anything Mase is cut from Duval cloth.....at best with a Harlem influence.
He's explaining what's referred to as a "work for hire" when you take that upfront money, your royalties are gone forever. Message to all the inspiring artist in here.!!!!
alot of people don't know but The OG version of mo money mo problems was mase, big, and jadakiss. and it was supposed to be on mase album, after big passed puff told mase he was gonna put it on big's album and take jadakiss off and put himself on instead.
Yet.......do you know what investigation means? He's being investigated, the fbi doesn't randomly raid multiple homes at the same time for reason genius 😂
It’s crazy how many hits Mase had and how Diddy would make him write him a verse and hop on his tracks, and take his shine… and take all the credit and publishing! That’s why Mase left so broke from Bad Boy.
This is why people have to handle their business. You can't be so money hungry that you sign your life away and then later complain and say someone did you dirty when you handed them the gun and the bullets. He wasn't robbed. He obviously signed contracts that gave Diddy rights to the IP. 3:22 - 3:46 shows their mentality and the fact that they want something for nothing . No one owes you anything and my stomach turns every time I hear someone speak like this. We all have to learn how to be accountable for our own decisions in life and stop blaming other people when stuff goes wrong. I'm not siding with Diddy but he didn't do anything wrong or illegal in this situation. If you keep living you will find out that most people are only out for themselves and it doesn't benefit you to bet on other people.
How can one "teach" an "other" what the "other" NEEDS to know? One can only TEACH what "one" knows! This guy is only as "informed" as he "THINKS" he is...(that) or a diversionary "tool," either way... he's NOT a reliable source!
I’m confused as to why Diddy is being blamed for royalties etc. when this is what goes on in the music industry. Diddy didn’t create what goes on in the music industry, this existed before he ever got in the business.
Any coincidence that Katt Williams on Club Shay Shay mentioned that "when Diddy asks you to party you say no" so subtle (not really) for the FEDS to notice? The case was already in place but 100s of millions of views to CONFIRM what SO many people knew? Katt Williams interview effect
You can't be serious....That's a world class troll! Also, What other kind of person could you harbor that much hate for?!?!? If there's anyone out here to hold all that hate for it's this phucking guy. It's a bit suspect you would come to the defense of someone who's been hit with the allegations, and soon to be charges, of child pedophilia, sex trafficking, and MURDER amongst other things like he has.....#SHEESH

@@crich2201 It's evident that you're not paying attention to Gene Deal. He doesn't have any personal problems with Diddy; it's just that he witnessed and heard things that he felt were not right. He didn't harm Gene in any way.
