Depends on how much time you give 'em, the mood you're in and your in-game fighting style. Usually, I'm a pretty chill, focused player, but when I'm pushed, suffice to say, you don't wanna mess with me! There was a time where I was doing some exploring.....looking for treasures.......searching for shrines. And who should I come across, but some Gloom Hands. Early in the game, the sight of them scared the crap out of me. At that point, they were more of an irritation. I just thought "I don't have time for your guy's crap, but let's do this anyway!" I proceeded to run at them and beat the snot out of them!
It's an interesting thing......Considering their aggression, I never thought they'd be programmed to show a certain level of hesitation.....Because upon seeing three of their comrades die in the span of a few seconds, I SWEAR! The two remaining ones, which had charged at me, ready for blood........kind of backed away a few feet, only for me to charge at them with the same level of aggression they had shown me moments before!
I genuinely think the reason why gloom hands are so scary is because you can't see them wandering around. Where Guardians you could at least mentally prepare they just kind of pop out of nowhere, scream at you and then quickly bum rush you. Hands down one of my favorite enemies in games
@@ladrovil Yep, just climb up out of their reach wait a whole moment, then they'll completely disappear from the area leaving behind a couple dark clumps-
The only enemy that will still drop a reward if you can successfully escape from it. If you manage to get away and it gives up chasing you, it will decay into a few dark clumps.
@@equinox1223when use the sword as material it doesn't cause gloom effect. That on top of the scimitar of the seven and you got yourself a boss killer.
Heres a tip on beating them. Get as much height as you can. Go in bullet time, Freeze them, (for the dmg multiplier when frozen) then shoot them with 2 rubies. Make sure the splash damage hits all the hands because the hands respawn with half health when you beat them and also to avoid manually dealing with more hands. I suggest you use like gear from black+ tier or atleast a fused knight's weapon. My weapon of choice was a naydra reaper (knight's broadsword + shard of naydra's horn). Depending on what you find, the spear is easier to dodge/flurry rush, the sword phantom ganon is harder. Also when a blood moon happens the weapons of each gloom hand's phantom ganon will not change. ex. Sword phantom ganon spawns, then if you kill that gloom hand again, the same sword phantom ganon spawns. so if you want to grind a specific type of gloom weaponry, then find the correct gloom hand enemy to farm and follow my strat on EDIT: same applies for ganondorf but he changes weapon and has no drops, you will want to use the master sword fused (only for first phase)
I ran into my first set of gloom hands yesterday near skull island in the north, it was the scariest moment of gaming history for me, I tried to fight, quickly realized I had no idea what I was up against. I then turned to run to jump off the side of the cliff and get away, when the hands reached out, mid jump, and grabbed me from out of the air then threw me back into his area. 😱💀
That was my first gloom hands I defeated, although I was up high and knew by this point they can't climb. What I didn't know was how to properly fight phantom Ganon, so I thought I'd observe from a distance on the cliff. The entire valley bellow me got covered in gloom. It was also a blood moon. It was like the entire world had turned into a red pile of gloom. It was freaking scary. Then P. Ganon jumped up next to me and I was💀 Turns out P. Ganon is actually quite easy if you have a decent weapon, jump escape his attacks, and attack him before the gloom has a chance to spread.
I encountered some in the cave, but didn’t have the slightest idea how to defeat them, so I just stood on a ledge for a little before giving up. They disappeared right before I left but I thought they would reappear so I dipped.
There’s a reason I thought Gloom Hands were invincible until I went to the Great Deku Tree. I couldn’t kill them fast enough and they just kept coming. Genuinely a terrifying threat. 10/10, would gladly scoop that memory just to refight those things with that same fear.
First time seeing them is actually nightmarish There scream when they spot you The music being downright creepy And then the fact that their the only ground enemies they arent even fightable by any melee standards Did i also mention that if you don’t kill the hands fast enough they respawn Edit: Read comment section for something crazy And you can approach them after hitting them with a aoe freeze from a sapphire rod or staff
not fightable by any melee means? tell that to my poor decision making skill that treads the line between courage and stupidity, and the gloom hands in the deku tree
@@poly.fcracka9362 OH Nice I also found out that recently you can approach them after freezing them with something like a rod or staff after attaching sapphire it which gives it a aoe freeze
Although Gloom Spawn don't have an entry in the Hyrule Compendium, Phantom Ganon does. By setting your Sensor+ for Phantom Ganon it'll point out Gloom Spawn locations.
Be careful; there's at least 2 spawns (that I've seen) that won't pop up unless it's night. So even if you set the Sensor+ to find the Phantom Ganon, those specific spawns won't appear in the day.
This was the first ones I found, and scared me shitless. I walked out the shrine heard creepy music and saw a bunch of floormasters reaching up to me and I went cold, but after God knows how long throwing fire fruits at them a blood moon happened and they respawned never even got to see phantom Ganon yet 😂 afterwards I just reloaded the auto save and kept my fruit
I'm glad someone else recognized them as floor masters. I actually got excited to see a lot of the classic enemies returning in this game so I legit thought that's what they were at first. I had the same reaction to the Frox before I actually got down to fighting it instead of running in the dark because I totally thought it was a Dodongo.
@@LeFerg13yeah, design-wise they’re basically just the WW Floormaster but with Gloom. Pretty sure Gloom Spawn is the official name, but they will always be Floormasters to me.
my absolute favorite enemy. i didnt think the lynels could be topped but holy damn. ill never forget the first time these cursed sons a bitches found me
I encountered them today I was exploring the map getting closer to a tower and BOOM they were right there in front of me. (i already knew of these things but it gave me a heart attack) i thought it was a blood moon at first but it was bright daylight i practically paused immediately and then I teleported away.
Back in botw, people were scared of guardians and lynels, but now we remember them fondly, thanks to gloom hands. Years from now we'll play Botw3, and think back to how gloom hands weren't so bad...
First Phantom Ganon I ever found was the one in the cave right by Hestu, spent forever trying to get them all dead at the same time and once I did was terrified of Ganon. Instead of stepping down to fight him I stayed on the little rock spire and tried to hit him with long weapons without being oneshot by his bow again. Later learned his melee attacks are way weaker and easier to dodge
Phantom Ganon is basically training for actual Ganon. It’s a slower weaker version that uses the same poses when it attacks so you can learn to recognize and dodge them when the real guy is barreling down on you
Another way is to get the sages in the battle with you. If you have all 4, Ganon will be busy attacking them most of the time and you can swipe those duplicates with your master sword or whatever you have. Just do it a few times because a phantom will come get you then too.
I remember when I first defeated the gloom hands I was like "YESS FUCKING FINALLY" And then I see Phantom Ganon with a health bar and I'm like "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK"
Gloom Hands bum rushing to grab you is a terrifying experience. Once I got one of the avatars I thought it would be a tad easier….then I saw it get grabbed and I’m like “oh dear god”. Was afraid something might happen if I didn’t free them
When I started the game the first place I went to was the plateau area where you start at botw. Theres this one shrine, very far left on the plateau and on my way there suddenly the sky changed. I assumed it was the red blood moon from botw, no longer using a cutscene. Then I saw that big pile of red moving around....moving towards me....hands coming out. AND WORST OF ALL, THAT "MUSIC" THAT PLAYS WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER THEM. I felt this type of fear I never felt before and made my poor 4 hearted low stamina link SPRINT towards the walls around the shrine.
I encountered them right after I did that particular shrine, never ran away from an enemy in Zelda that fast since OoT, bolted straight towards the edge in order to jump off and fly away.
That was my first hands encounter, i was hella scared but i got the hands fucking spoiled in comments in the first or 2nd week of release( yes ik my bad) so i wasnt as scared as everyone
Actually had a terrifying situation the other night: turned out I had been playing so long a cache bug occured while I was fighting Gloom Hands. Every time I landed the supposedly fatal blow on the last hand, it's health jumped back up to 50%. This always happened with the last hand so I essentially had an immortal enemy that kept respawning it's buddies. As if this wasn't bad enough, I was in the Labyrinth in the Hebra region when this happened. Eventually I teleported away after freaking out for about 10 minutes as I tried to kill them and just decided I was done for the night.
My sister and I had our first Gloom Hands encounter! We’re currently in the Lost Forest Chasm/Lost fog part. It was dark and hard to see, there was a ton of Gloom around and behind us. Sure enough the mood changes and my sister(who is playing) turns the camera around, that’s when we see them! You can imagine two ladies screaming and freaking out as chaos happens while we’re being chased!😂
That was meeeeee. My family was watching me and then I just started yelling "NONONONONONOOONONONO" and ran as fast as I could😂 That was a terrifying and traumatizing experience, to say the least
@@ekhogaming0 Haha oh no! I hope you’re alright, it was the same for my sister too. She paused the game and was spooked by the Gloom Hands sudden appearance.
Spoilers for Master Sword quest: First time I killed the hands was in the Great Deku Tree. I didn't realize Phantom Ganon spawns regardless of the encounter. I'll need to have Cucuí Ganon Dos ready at all times
same i had to fly down and mid flight shoot being that i had climbed a wall incase i needed to and when phantom ganon spawned, i would parry via his voice and use the avatars for help
I feel like the game knows when you're about to discover a gloom hands for the first time, and forces a blood moon at the same time, as well as having them near a depths chasm. Just to make the world around you feel a little more gloom, and scare you even more.
Never thought i could be more afraid of anything else after dealing with lynels and guardians. The way the sky turns red when you encounter them outside just scares the living daylight out of me. Whoever thought of this enemy I want to punch and compliment them for their creativity
First time i saw them i was primarily confused as to what it was so i wasn't scared at all, and i was only running around the entire map not caring about the main quests so i had no idea on how to combat it.
Encountered them six times now and still haven’t fought them properly yet. I came close once: trying to get one of Misko’s treasures in a certain cave at the end of a river. I saw them show up, decided that playing “floor is lava” wasn’t going to work in this cave, and fire-bombed them from above. At the time I didn’t realize that Phantom Ganon could teleport until he appeared right behind me. Then I fled into the cave and scrambled up to the treasure tower and got it and just sat there. PG didn’t know where I was and so threw a massive gloom tantrum before dipping out. I then tentatively made it back outside the cave.
Jumping down the Deku tree and I was so confused and horrified at the same time. When you finally kill the glooms hands, you're out of ammo and hearts, but you made it and then Phantom Gannon appears. PANIC!!!!!
The first time I killed one of these was in the depths. Didn't expect phantom ganon to show up and got too scared to fight him. Reloaded the save and that time the hands despawned on their own. Lot of security for the hero of the winds cap.
@@innerecho9468 when they disappear they may leave some items called dark clumps if you choose to avoid or wait them out...when you cook with those it gives gloom resistant effects. But these guys show up everywhere where the area either looks eerie, too easy or too out of the way
I encountered my first gloom hands in the depths while trying to collect poes, I didn’t unlock the lightroot yet and I didn’t know about brightblooms lighting the area up. I didn’t even notice them because they were kind of camouflaged in the gloom that’s everywhere, I was scared shitless but I wanted those poes so I just kept dying over and over again, truly an experience of all time 10/10
THEY CAN REGENERATE?! This has to be the most broken enemy in the game. First, it scares you half to death, then either literally scares you to death or you warp to save yourself, then you go back and fight it only to find it can regenerate, then you kill it with area damage only to realize Ganon's ghost comes back to haunt you immediately afterwords! Who the heck approved of this abomination of a zelda enemy? Whoever they are, they're off their rocker on so many levels.
I kept thinking of all things they could have brought back out of nostalgia and it was a darn floor master. Glad to see that like mine, everyone's first encounter was absolutely terrifying 😂
The first one I found was near Morek Shrine (after clearing the Wind Temple) and, even though I had already been spoiled about their existence and had gotten the drop on best strategies against them at this point, I was still scared as all hell and fled the first time lmao. Eventually, I summoned the courage to go back and fight them, until HE showed up.
I remember my first encounter with the gloom hands. I remember feeling so accomplished after defeating them and I took a deep breath and my heart rate started to go down. Then I saw the phantom ganon health bar appear and my heart rate increased to what felt like hundreds times faster, and I just said “hell nah” in my head and fast traveled to lookout landing
They have a timer. Like Master Mode health bars. If you just flurry rush in sequence it’s one and done. You can also side-strafe for FR consistency and safety. I just jump and swing on repeat until I find a FR opening. Don’t let the numbers overwhelm you
I rarely have any issues with them.....Setting Phantom Ganon to the tracker is a good idea if you want to avoid them, or, at the very least like me, get some advanced warning so you know you're about to fight them.
The first time I beat them was when I still had 4 hearts, and it was in that same cave. For some reason, my mind only thought of spamming bombs at them The rest was a total surprise
I just realized this a couple of days ago, when you kill most of the hands, they start to regenerate, making them even more terrifying. I only just noticed this, even though I’ve fought at least 8, because I either outrun them or spam bomb flowers 😂
Gloom hands must be one of the most annoying monsters that Nintendo ever created. Hands infect you with gloom, so you can't heal the hearts lost fighting them, unless you return into the sun/overworld for it to heal the gloom effects. They're fast for a couple of hands to hunt you down and drag you back. They can scale up walls. They regenerate hands. The music turning wacky and the sky turning red makes it even more stressfull. And if you are able to blow the hands up, then there is a phase 2. I am able to kill them now, because I was required to kill one in order to help the Deku tree, but I had a hard time figuring them out. I am not sure what to do with the gloom sword yet, I have only just defeated it an hour ago. I do love the translation I have, they're called Miasma swords in my game =D.
@Mikescoutgames Aaah thank you for sharing that! I defeated Phantom Ganon for the first time but only picked up the Dark Clumps and Demon Bow. I'll bear that in mind to Fuse the Gloom weapons to my regular weapons next time.
They can scale up stuff but they can't scale up straight verticality. Climb a tree or a wall out of their reach, and for pete's sake stay off of Mekar Island!
Tip: If you regularly have trouble with phantom Ganon, keep a 5 shot bow a 2 or 3 topaz on hand. That combination will end him quick. Just make sure your a safe distance away from him or have something that will protect you from electricity. Topaz out of a 5 shot bow results in a large blast radius.
@@michaelirazori9214 dude, you brought up there being hands in Twilight princess, which there are, in the palace of twilight dungeon and are indeed indestructable, and gloom spawn don't need to be killed all at once, just killed fast.
@@MrSailing101 Oh those things. No I was talking about the Twilight beast’s revive roar, since those come in packs and can only die if you kill them all at the same time.
I remember thinking "ahh, now I can finally explore this area" after defeating them, only to see the COOLEST incarnation of Phantom Ganon in Zelda history spawn in front of me.
This is what I ran into when going to get the Master Sword from the Deku tree there in Korok forest. (yes, you don't get the MS there.... but it's step 1). When you go under the tree, you have to do this fight there. Defeat the hands, and then you fight Phantom Gannon. After that, the gloom hands go away... at least under the tree.
The second time I was at akalla citadel looking for fierce diety armor when suddenly the sky turned red like a blood moon was rising. I thought "this doesn't make sense, the sun is out" and the gloom hands reached out from behind the camera, screamed and grabbed me! It was like a scene from the walking dead! You know? Where the actors are looking right into the camera but then a walker appears out of no where and the actor is as surprised as you? It was like that! I had to book it for the cliff and dive off. My heart has never rushed so fast in a Zelda game. Redead never did that to me in ocarina of time 😂
My dad encountered his first set the other day. I told him that he should be safe as long as he’s above them. I was wrong. The location was near Hyrule Castle, just southwest of the castle town reservoir by the quarry ruins. He was running along the rocks above them when the music started playing. I didn’t realize that the Gloom Hands could climb that rock until he reached the wall and turned around to find them right behind him. I screamed like the teenage girl I am and he quickly teleported out of their hold. Terrifying. Edit: interestingly, I went back to that same spot in my own file and they wouldn’t spawn. At all.
I ran into the Gloom hands today…I totally forgot that they were a thing. I just bought the game a week ago and I was having fun. Going to shrines… the Gloom hands appear, the music changes, I run away it follows. I kill it then FREAKING PHANTOM GANON APPEARS! I was NOT prepared at all.
Yeah if you defeat the gloom hands before they evaporate naturally, then you fight Phantom Ganon. His drops are totally worth it (even if they take some health, you can heal it up with sundelion meals)
One thing I find funny about them is if you climb a wall that's not too short or too tall, it'll look like they're pushing the wall and trying to knock you down
My first battle with Gloom Hands is when I got trapped in a stupid wet cave that have the Phantom Armor Set. I was forced to fight them. Then I was forced to fight Ganon. Hated every moment. You can kill the hands by throwing some elements at them. But Ganon's health bar won't even twitch. So I had no choice but the melee him.
I first discovered Phantom Ganon when I went into a Labyrinth and found you could go up on top of the cube. I spotted the hands and killed them from above. Then realized it spawned Phantom Ganon. Wasn't-...quite sure what to do so I tried shooting him from above like the hands and he TELEPORTED to me and scared the crap out of me. I jumped off, landed in the labyrinth and apparently deaggro'd
*Every time I see Gloom Hands then:* Imagine "Munch's The Scream". *Every time I see Gloom Hands now:* Imagine how happy Thor is to see Hulk in Ragnarok.
My first gloom spawn ambushed me in Hyrule field and murdered me brutally before I knew what was happening. 400+ hours later, I’ve still not found that gloom spawn for revenge lol. But the one in this video was my first win, and boy was I shocked/hyped/scared when I’d managed to win just to see a health bar appeared saying “Phantom Ganon”, and I didn’t see anyone for some seconds.
The day I found that these MF can spawn at the depths (which makes sense, I don’t know why I didn’t put two and two together) is when I realized I missed the guardians
First time I saw gloom hands I saw them up ahead. I just thought "oh a puddle with an eye to shoot? Sweet! Free treasure!" Boy was I surprised when more hands popped out, the sky turned red like a blood moon, these things screamed and then MOVED THROUGH THE GROUND! That didn't happen last time in botw! I only had four hearts so I died in a second 😂
I actually use dazzlefruit arrows and it seems to work for keeping distance between it and you. Ice keese eyeballs from a multi shot bow works really well too.
Some comment on a different video said that Gloom Hands don't come up on the Compendium....it's even more terrifying that way. Phantom Ganon does though.
Until now I've only been able to defeat the gloom hands through a door in the dungeon beneath hyrule castle, they couldn't reach me and I could take my time (I didn't think of using bomb flowers before at other encounters and simply fled or died), then phantom ganon appeared and I wasn't prepared for him to teleport through the door right next to me. Needless to say it was a very short fight :')
Haven't fought one yet, but it scared the shit out of me the first time one spawned nearly 5 minutes after making land fall at the great plateau. I climbed a cliff. It either despawned or can't do vertical surfaces One look oh shit..! Nope! With my puny 4 hearts XD I'm stoked to see classic enemies make a return. ❤️ Like likesXD
I found one in Crenel Hills around the hollow large trees and I had no clue what was going on. The fact i couldnt even take a photo of them for the Hyruledex made it scarier because I just didnt know what they were. I was so scared
I’ve seen gloom hands twice and they’re easily the scariest enemy I’ve dealt with. Haven’t even tried killing them yet, I just do what I can to try and get away.
...This is a big NOPE for me. Those Gloom hands have traumatized me. I don't go anywhere NEAR gloom because of them. I see Gloom and I am turning around and going away.
Hey i recognize that cave, that's actually where i first thought the gloom hands funny enough. Was easy since i was perched at a high place but then phantom Ganon showed up and i was like NOPE. Now that i've seen him he doesn't seem that bad.
Yeah, once you know what you're doing, the Gloom Hands and Phantom Ganon are pushovers at best. That hasn't stopped me from setting Phantom Ganon to my tracker so I know when I'm getting close to the Gloom Hands, though, seeing as I'd prefer knowing I'm getting close to them and taking them head-on over the alternative of them sneaking up on me. I remember the last time I actually seriously fought these things before setting the tracker, just bumping into some while doing some exploring and thinking "I'm not in the mood for you guys!" before promptly rushing them and beating the heck out of them, followed by giving Phantom Ganon a whooping on parr with the kind I gave the Guardians back in the day.
First time i encountered those hand f$#@ers was at death mountain. The moment i saw them coming at me, i S#*% myself and legged it... They are scary and annoying because they gloom your hearts to the point where you loose them permanently (from what i have heard). Zelda was right back in BOTW, there is a difference between courage and recklessness... One must have the courage to make the tactical retreat, we're only human.. On top of that, your video gave me inspiration on how to kill the F$#@ers. Cheers!!👌😉❤
the first time i encountered these was actually in hyrule castle depths because i decided to go down there early needless to say i was more than surprised when the phantom ganon boss bar showed up
lmao as i realized what this clip was about (their regeneration) i realized your mistake and internally started going 'FASTER, KILL THEM OFF FASTER FASTER ITS ONLY ONE LEFT'
My first encounter with these things were near some rocks, I was trying to climb up something, and everything was going red.. I was like "huh pretty early for the blood moon".. once I ran out of stamina I fell to the ground walked for a second then a fucking hand comes out of nowhere I was like shit wtf is that I turn there was fucking more I tried to run but I was out of stamina still so all I could do was say "I CANT MOVE"😂
Oh, yes......I remember those ones. I went in there, saw the chest just sitting there.....not a monster in sight......It just left me thinking "Nothing suspicious about this at all!" So, I booked it, opened the chest and paused the game just as the five eyes of the Gloom Hands hiding in there appeared out of the darkness so I could warp out of there!
My first encounter was literally me seeing if Akkala Citadel Ruins were as scary as in BotW: apart from the gleelo- what is that? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?!?!?!
This was my first encounter too. The first thing i did after hitting the ground was try to activate all of the towers so i could travel easily, so it was so early in the game that i hadn't even gotten enough pieces of armor to stop using the archaic greaves. I activated the shrine and saved it, then had my 7yo son play from there and didn't tell him anything about it. I just told him i found a shrine last night and didn't explore the cave. 🤭
This is why I always try to carry like 20 bomb flowers around because I am not messing around with this nightmare fuel. Blow it up and then beat PG for an awesome weapon base.
