Another title from the "Dreigroschenoper" (Threepenny Opera) is the "Zuhälterballade", originally performed by Macheath and Jenny (Harald Paulsen / Lotte Lenya)
For this video I decided to combine this haunting melody with images of the Great Depression... The images and the music seem a very good fit.
This record features the original Dreigroschenoper-Band : the Lewis (later Ludwig) Ruth Orchestra under the direction of Theo Mackeben. This record is in astonishingly good condition for an 80 year old record. It is also a flea market find of recent weeks ! (99,99% of the records I own were bought at flea markets).
