William Sadler as Colonel Stuart made for a fantastic villain in Die Hard 2. Yes, he’s not quite as great a villain as Hans Gruber, but Stuart is just as good a villain as Simon Gruber from Die Hard 3 and Thomas Gabriel of Die Hard 4. Sadler portrays Colonial Stuart a thoroughly ruthless and scary antagonist, shown no better in the film than when Stuart sadistically directs a 747 full of passengers into the concrete and their deaths without hesitation.
What made Colonel Stuart the best Die Hard villain for me was that Stuart actually fights John McClane himself one-on-one, and kicks McClane's ass in the process.
I actually find Col. Stuart a better villain than Simon Gruber & Thomas Gabriel, both of whom I still quite like. His stone-cold, no-nonsense demeanor throughout the film had a special charm in itself, and a foil to Hans Gruber's smooth-talking in Die Hard 1. William Sadler really has a knack in playing icy machiavellian types, another example being Luther Sloan in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine!
@@jmwoods190Colonel William Stuart was the most psychotic villain, he practiced martial arts in the nude every morning, only villain not motivated by money (Although General Ramon Esperanza promised them money and freedom when they escaped) and crashed an airplane full of innocent people just to prove a point.
The way William Sadler played Colonel Stuart was something else. He was like an angry pitbull like he said. Due to those kind of circumstances, He would have been really amazing as a 007 bad guy. 👍 But really scary though because he was angry like hell as Colonel Stuart. Seriously, William would have made a great and scary 007 villain.
First comment. OMG William Sadler is gorgeous. He looks amazing here. This is why I am one of his fans. Just a stunning looking man. Thank you for the upload. Just perfect. Could you tell me what copy of home media this is on? I would love to get it. Thanks.
@@babymammoth34 That's my favourite part of the movie. Here Bill explains how that scene went down.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R7eiInE5WqU.html
This is still one of my top 20 favorite movies of all time. Which is #1???? Shawshank Redemption with with William Sadler playing Heywood. 😁 And who knew that the same guy that played Richie Aprile is in Shawshank too?
