The fact that this was a completely different game, then the Die Hard License was applied to it, and they replaced the main character with John McClane... makes it exceptionally accurate of a portrayal of Die Hard. Several of the Die Hard movies started exactly like that.

Love this game, even bought the Sega ST-V version of it recently. But always found it odd that Dynamite Deka 1 was so much influenced by Die Hard they bought the license, but Dynamite Deka 2 was obviously influenced by Speed 2, yet stayed the same.

This game was developed as Die Hard Arcade originally, by Sega STI, and it was localized into Dynamite Deku for the other markets. It was always meant to be a Die Hard themed game. The arcade game uses Sega's ST-V Titan hardware, which is basically the Sega Saturn in an arcade board. The Saturn port is basically identical.

I remember playing this years ago, as well as it's sequels but I finished Dynamite Cop more than this game. Also this was actually a collaboration between AM1 and Sega Technical Institute. Also the main character in the Dynamite Deka one is named Bruno Delinger (not John McClane), the second playable character is named Cindy Holiday (not Kris) and the villain is named Wolf Hongo. Caroline Powell, the President's daughter in this game, would later be the third playable character in Asian Dynamite. The sequels, Dynamite Cop (for Sega Model 2 and Dreamcast) is set in a boat and has 2 new playable characters, while Asian Dynamite (for Naomi) has a feature where the characters change costumes once they pick up powerups, although Jean Ivy from Dynamite Cop was replaced with Caroline and adds a new character. The PS2 Sega Ages release of Dynamite Deka has an Easy mode, Altered Beast Mode, Deadline Mode (which has Segata Sanshiro playable) and the playable recreation of the old Sega Periscope arcade game (and its also on the Japanese PSN for PS3). Do a video on House of the Dead spinoff Zombie Revenge, since it was inspired by this game.

@@12ealDealOfficial TV shows weren't bad either, especially for those made for kids and teenagers (the Nickedlodeon game shows, all those animated series, the few decent live-action ones that popped up off and on). Not to mention that was the decade for The Simpsons, Seinfeld, and the WCW WWF wrestling wars. It wouldn't be until around 2000 when the more mature gritty made for adults tv shows would finally have their day (The Sopranos primarily started that trend in 1999).

Fun story involving Die Hard Arcade: I was in 8th grade and went to the regional science fair at North Dakota State University. We got to visit the Memorial Union and in '97 they had a pretty good arcade in there. Well Die Hard Arcade was there. I ended up spending way too much time in the arcade pumping quarters into the machine and beat the game. And ended up not getting enough interviews with the judges to even have a chance to move on to state. No regrets.

There was rarely anyone working there; you'd just go into this "store" and play some games. Sometimes the games wouldn't work or would eat your quarter, but there was no one there to tell so too bad so sad. This game was there though and my buddy and I would play it all the time. Die Hard Arcade is the most fun arcade beat em up to 1cc because it’s short but the dmg is super high, you can pick up health up to 200% life bar, and resource management is important with clips and mags to hold for hard enemies and being able to hold guns from room to room to star tough groups with an advantage. I used to play this tons as a kid and I thought there was no way it would be as good as I remembered but it’s actually way better than I thought and probably the best 3d beat em up ever
