I’ve always loved this version best. The two of them look like they’re having so much fun, driving each other to like the pinnacle of their character’s rock potential. The final stanza is SO BADASS. After Drew’s “werde krank” (sp??) it just becomes UNBEATABLE. Their harmonies are just slapping!!!!
Unexpected combination but very pleasant))) Now I want to see Elisabeth with Drew as Tod... It must be amazing!!! (And with Mate as Lucheni... total reverse)))
Just finished watching Elizabeth and thinking the only thing missing was a role for Drew Sarich. And then I saw this. It is great to listen to, but I would love to see them both on stage in full character. Actually the only role I thought would really fit Drew was the narrator, but (I can't think of his name right now) was so GREAT in it, that I don't know if Drew could improve on the role. I would still love to see his interpretation of it though!
When I got my disc of the 12.12.2003-show from Elisabeth I wasn't amazed with the quality of the show itself.... But when I got to the bonus footage and saw Jesper doing this song with Maté I was smiling at my screen.... And then this gem came up and I teared up... See, I always knew Drew would be great as Rudolf in "Elisabeth"
Hehe, what is it with Drew playing Rudolf!!!!! Actually, listening to this, Drew would make one amazing Death. My god does he have the vocal strength, the ability to express the unexpressable, and a wonderful charisma about him. There's no doubt he can pull it off- just look at him as Armand or u/s Lestat in Lestat. Crikey, I really wish I could see that man in the flesh. Either of them, Mate's such a powerful beast too, lol!!! It must be so impressive seeing them perform live.
*snort* Couldnt have put it better myself. I've written an English version of Die Schatten myself, keeping as close as possible to the original meaning whilst using the same rhyme patterns, and expressing the situation when a more direct translation doesnt work. Now, all I have to do is lock these two guys in a room, stick my English lyrics under their faces and refuse to let them out unless they give me a perfomance!!!! Or, for the other fans/ Rudolf-a-holics, Drew and Uwe!!!!
klasse das Duett. :-) Jedoch kann ich mir Drew in Elisabeth als Rudolf nicht vorstellen. für mich wirkt er einfach viel zu Männlich für die Rolle. Ich könnte mir da eher Franz Joseph oder Lucheni für ihm vorstellen. Aber als Rudolf nee... da passt er nicht wirklich rein
der blonde...ja bei mate scheiden sich die geister andauernd.bei dieser version isser wirklich schwach aber sonst gefällt er mir als tod sehr,weil er auch diese gefährliche seite sehr gut herausbringt,wenn man sich die videos von ihm anguckt von der elisabeth dvd die hier auch rumschwirren kann man sich das angucken.
Damn, I would love to see Drew as Tod! I think he would be perfect for the part. Great voice anyway but also charismatic, does the androgyny look while still being very male and when I think of the seduction scene with Lestat and the kiss.. yeah, he would be perfect.
hmmm ich glaub gar nicht so dass er so gut in die rolle passen würde, nicht weil er sie nicht gut spielt, drew spielt/singt alles gut, sondern weil er einfach eine zu kraftvolle und imposante stimme hat und jeden tod bei dem duett in den boden singen würde :D
