It was so unfortunate that he got into drugs at an early age before even reaching 30 years. He is the best (along side with Messi and Pele) but would’ve been by far the best (without anyone near him) if he was committed to football all the way to 36 year old.
See Messi has better ball control and much better sprinting in short distances, arguably better finishing, but Diego had a dose of magic that's only seen in very few players. Ronaldinho, Zidane, Valderrama, Ginola, Ronaldo9, PELÉ, among others. It's kind of hard to describe, moments where the player goes out of the ordinary and leaves everyone with their jaw open.
I notice the same thing too. Maradona has movie moments that are absolutely sublime. Messi makes the right decision time and time again. I think it’s testament to their playing profiles in the teams they both shined in. One a talismanic force of nature that dragged good teams into greatness and the other is the crown jewel of tiki-taka. All wonderful football.
@@elspencer6334 Maradona would lose the ball easier than Messi would. He wasn't the type to "keep the ball glued" to his feet, but would kick it into space then muscle his way to it. Messi didn't have the overall, terminal speed Diego did, so he would bank on his short but quick bursts of speed to quickly evade tackles, all while the ball was kept close. You clearly don't know crud and didn't pay attention to these fine details. You're probably just the type of football fan who gets drunk and screams at the TV at your local bar. Yeah, THAT type of football fan. 🤣.
