This is one of my favorites Dierks Bentley's song, it's really right.. everyone has a "mountain" to climb.

The song is very soothing

It seems as if he always comes out with a song that has words that I need to hear at the right time. We had some really bad news this week that totally changed the course of my family's life this year. The release of this was perfect timing, and the words are just what I need to hear. This is not the first time he's done this in my life with his music. Dierks, you do not get the credit you deserve. I love your music, and you are by far my favorite artist. I never miss seeing you when you perform here, and no matter what struggles I may have, as long as you do come here year after year, I never will miss a concert. Thanks for all your music.

The lyrics are so simple but so powerful!! Simple= easy to recall. The line, "Well you gotta know the bottom if you wanna be a climber", is meaningful to me, because, if I understand the deep, very tough lows in life, and what I can learn from them, the top of those mountains are sweeter. More importantly, it prepares me just a little bit more for the next bottom, and the next mountain, but actually being more accepting of it instead of fighting it so hard. The key is looking up, like the lyrics said. To me it's looking up to Jesus, to help me through it.

Would have been nicer if the fiddles were turned up a little, but this is still a great song with a nice message! "The Mountain" is also still more Country sounding than anything that's being played on radio now as well.
