For those wondering about the expensive heat output tube, i have added some other options. This particular seller on Ebay likes to spike the price when they run out of stock. As stock comes in the price drops. OR you can select the other amazon links and they will just be a different style.
Keegan, in the build video you mention placing a rubber gasket on each side of the box on the output tube. Do you have a recommendation for this gasket?
Nice find on those bulkhead connectors. I looked everywhere for a 5 pin one that supports larger gauge wire for the power inputs (as it can get up to 10A on startup) and couldn't find anything. Most 5 pin plugs are 18 gauge so you'd have to run a 2 pin (power) AND a 3 pin (controller).
Have you thought about putting a "kit" together using your Etcy links and affilliate links to amazon? Or some way to get a "one click" or simple link to all parts at once. I only say it because I was looking at the parts for the smaller kit and many links on Amazon are to products no longer available. Its a cool project and yours is unique becaue you print your own parts. (which is pretty darn cool)
Love your version of these heater diys! Do you think if I use the 4800 case with the 2kw heatet, cpuld I store the air hose in the case? Or is the space taken up by exhaust and intake? Maybe not worth it? Thanks!
Good gosh.... very clean and beautiful build. I am looking into one of these heaters for my 20 travel trailer. The propane central heat is always an issue when dry camping....a propane hog and battery slayer. I love this build. I wonder if the 5kw would heat a 10x14 Kodiak canvas tent?
I havent tried that but I think it could work! I used my 2KW to heat up my bigger 7x9 tent in sub freezing temps, it held the tent around 62F. This was also tent material which breaths really well so I was probably losing a fair bit of heat. Canvas would hold better.
I would like to use the 2 pin connector on the 2kw build. Can I acquire the 2 pin 3D printed socket adapter along with the usual 2kw 3D printed components from your Etsy site?
Awesome build. Do these heaters work better when they are running more constantly as opposed to dumbing them down and having them run at a lesser rate? I have a canvas truck bed tent and am wavering over the 2kw vs the 5kw setup. Which would you recommend? I am going to start collecting parts and this would be the deciding factor on which 3D parts I purchase. Thank you!
Hey man great build! Do you have the plans available for the 5KW version? I saw the 2KW online but couldn't find the 5KW version. I have a heater, a case, and just picked up a 3D printer.
How do you add an exaust extension to that through hull fitting. Anyone use this inside an ice fishing tent? Insulating heat vent and intake is a mess of wasted heat and space
Hey how you doing!!! Nice set up!!… quick question the silencer for in air tank does not have to be outside?? I getting confused with that, or are you making holes so can get air from outside?
HE DOES AND I BOUGHT ONE LAST YEAR WORKS PERFECTLY AND HAS LASTED PLUS KEEGAN WILL WALK YOU THROUGH EVERYTHING YOU WOULD EVER NEED TO KNOW. HES SOLID JMHO
That is what I was looking for. What is the difference between the digital display unit and the knob units, do you know? Is the 5 and 8 kw heaters the overall same size and work in the same case?. Thanks
knob is easier to use but much harder to diagnose when something is acting up. I really like the LCD version I have included in this video. Also, it comes with a wireless remote so you can fire it up from the camp fire prior to climbing in your tent. Also, I have only seen problems with the 8kw models. Or I would say, I havent found a reliable source in the last 3 years for them.
Nice build! Looking to build one soon wondering how loud the "clicking" sound is on the fuel pump. My gf is a light sleeper so I can see it being an issue. Are there any options for quieter pumps?
Great Video! I am in the process of trying to do one very similar. My heater is slightly different, but I am trying to build it in the Apache 4800 case and I am doing a 5kw heater. One thing I am trying to figure out is how to secure the heater to the case. I bought some brackets, but I am starting to wonder if I need to even do this. It looks like your heater is mostly held in place by the 3 inch intake and outtakes. Is this accurate or is it somehow bolted directly to the case as well?
@@RobRoyRoadie There are 2 other options available for you to pick up. check in the description. The main version comes in and out of stock (or in the case of this seller, normal price vs $518)
@@keeganbuilds I reached out to the seller. Apparently they are out of stock, and that is the price to have them fabricated individually. They said that once they can get a new batch manufactured in bulk, the price will go back down.
@@keeganbuilds Damn, at least I tried. I hit you up on IG not sure if you saw it. Saw some comments saying you might actually build and sell these if that's still happening?
It looks great. But... I just priced to see all the parts on Amazon, plus the 3D printed parts you're selling on your site for $95, this thing is gonna cost $600 !!! That's just craziness !!! Who in their right mind would pay that ?!!! If you do, you should be drug tested
