@@charlestait5303 A ketogenic diet only eliminates the synonyms by eliminating carbohydrates, and is not healthy in the long term. It does nothing to reverse insulin resistance. Which is the cause of type 2 Diabete. The only way to reverse insulin resistance is with a low-fat whole-food Vegan diet. We're talking about life and death situations here. In order to assist me with my weight and diabetes, my friend told me about this 4DiabetesFreeForLife.blogspot.com . I had been adhering to a rigorous fitness and diet program. My blood glucose level was 35 points less after a day of diet and has become 60 points less as I reached day 4. That worked very well, however, and I felt fine. I’m so pleased that my blood sugar is now at its normal level.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the age of 60. My advice from the NHS was eat less and exercise more. By the age of 82 I was 16 st. 3 lbs and injected 300 units of insulin per day. I adopted a new lifestyle - a low carbohydrate, high fat diet and fasting from 5pm to 9am every day. In 4 months I was 13st. 5lbs. and the maximum insulin I took was 40 units per day, some days none at all. Two years later I am 13st. 7lbs and take slightly less insulin. The damage done to my body by diabetes means I cannot take much exercise. I allow myself the odd period when I eat a bit less sensibly such as birthdays, Christmas, etc. I feel the NHS has let me down as their advice did not work and they still preach the same mantra. Had I known at 60 what I know (age 84) I would have saved a lot of the grief.
@free2binnh
@free2binnh 3 года назад
Go look at Mastering Diabetes channel, I believe he has it right. A plant foods diet low in fat will allow your body to manage the insulin. A diet with to much fat causes insulin resistance, the root cause of diabetes.
@interdave999
@interdave999 3 года назад
@@free2binnh Thanks for your reply, Steve. I found the video very interesting and I have adopted much of the recommendations. I'm now 84 years old and stick to my diet pretty well mainly because it suits me. Eating loads of fruit for instance results in severe digestive problems and, at my age, I find major changes to my diet tend to cause problems. Had I known these things at 60 I believe I could have been more able to adapt. I have some of the diabetes results already - mainly eyes and feet. My problem is the NHS which is still advocating eat less and take more insulin and have ignored my change in diet. At 82 years old I have been unable to take any meaningful exercise. The diet I followed was as recommended by Dr Fung ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tIuj-oMN-Fk.html a Canadian living in the USA. He recommended fasting for 16 hours per day which is something I manage to do with little problem. My problem now is that Type 2 diabetes is not curable and control depends largely on eating habits. When I reached a reasonable weight and reduced my insulin intake to a low figure, my problem became controlling my diet so that I did not have a hypo so I tend to eat more carbs to compensate. Try discussing that with the NHS.
@free2binnh
@free2binnh 3 года назад
@@interdave999 I watched the video, not sure if I can do the fasting. In the past, I have lost weight with increasing exercise. I think I will try the HCLF approach, thanks for the info.

hi thanks for this information ,i am type 2 diabetic, 3 years now the first year my blood sugars were so high the test meter could not even read it ,my farther had a stroke and had just died i had quit smoking before that for a year and started smoking again . i was very depressed as i had a nightmare of legal matters inc tax etc to deal with 3 years ago i was 17 stone i was pre diabetes then and i was told to lose the weight and i did that i lost 5 stone in 5 months ,and another stone in the 6 months after that so i got to 11 stone and that is my perfect weight as im 6,3 anyway after losing all that weight i was full blown diabetic ,and over the next 5 months i went for 1 injection a day to 6 injections of fast insulin plus one big injection of slow acting insulin the doses went up and up and up until i was going into comas ,this happened because some days i was so busy so stressed having to fly alot and the dr told me to inject a certain times every day ,so that is what i did EVEN WHEN I HAD NO TIME TO EAT SO i was going into comas ,finally 2 years in i got to see a specialist and to him what was happening ,he was so shocked cos i was on massive amounts of insulin 7 times a day and due to all sorts of issues dealing with my fathers matters ,i was all over the place and i really could not deal with it at all. after having my insulin dose sizes dramatically reduced and trying so hard to manage what and when i would eat i was getting my b sugars lower still not good still high ,then i got a fungal infection under my big toe nail and i took me 6 months to get that sorted ,and it really got my attention ,as nothing would stop it s spread and i nearly lost my nails i was freaking out ,and i admit i was slipping ,i would by things like cheese cake bread and butter pudding ,trifle and drink flute juices and just injected more and more , i know ,it was out of control but i fooled myself by saying the extra insulin would sort that ,and also when i went in to low sugar shock,i would crawl to the kitchen sweating blur flashing vision and stand against the fridge like a bulimic and literally eat like in a panic and could not stop eating any thing and every thing all together as fast as i could get it into my body,like i was possessed thing hardly breathing in total shock ,then my blood would go through the roof and i would have to inject a massive amount of insulin and then it would go to low a few hours later and id be in the fridge again falling over and eating again the same again it was a night mare i started to get cramps in my entire body every muscle of my body would cramp up id be sweating and in so much pain the muscles cramping all the way from my neck to my feet and shoulder hands fingers all in spasm i could not even crawl to the kitchen ,from my bed ,frankly drs nurses just did not help me at all none of them actually had diabetes and frankly clearly did not understand it at all as there advice was useless to me, so things got to a point were i was out on my skate board one day i had had an injection but was going to meet my friend in town and were going out to dinner , when i went into a coma and was in the gutter and a neighbour saw me and carried me home .i was in a real state ,after i got home standing in front of the fridge panic eating again i suddenly took charge ,i was feeling awful low blood sugar is like being possessed but this time ,i was not going to let it spike so i had to inject more and more insulin ,i went and lay down on the floor of my kitchen waiting for the sugar to come back up ,i stopped eating in panic ,i had only had some juice and maybe 4 table spoons of trifle,but managed to stop eating any more ,when i felt human again after about 20 mins there on the floor i tested my bloods there were high but readable , so what have i learnt ,never take an insulin injection if you have not eaten first if you are not eating dont inject , i now eat so much better foods all fresh all greens and vegges i dropped the cheese cakes and the trifles i admit to having a tea spoon of bread and butter pudding if im low ,i do drink cold pressed flute juice but i water it down so its so weak that way i can drink a liter of it and its not gonna spike my blood sugars cos its mostly water ,i only take 1 slow release metformin now in the morning ,as the one i was taking at night was giving me the cramps so badly i have never felt such agony before as those cramps i never knew you could have every single muscle go into full on cramps like that ! so now my blood sugars are always in 5 to 13 and i eat so much better ,i am still making a few mistakes hence the 13 ,but i am not in any thing like the horror film i was trapped in before ,people dont know that state diabetes gets you in,i wanted to write this to give people a glimpse of what hell it can be ,if you follow drs orders. my advice only inject when you eat regardless of time ,never listen to your dr telling you to inject at certain times ,d telling you to inject the same amounts regardless is wrong & that is pure hell ,if your to busy to eat dont inject your insulin ,if you eat something you can resist that you know will spike your sugars inject a third more than normal wait 40 mins test and if you need to inject a quaver more do so ,and dont worry if its not spot on 6 diabetes is a tuff thing to control when your not used to it ,and it takes years to understand what is going on. and when life is throwing the normal bull shit at your fan ,the best thing to do is eat carefully choose only things that wont spike you to much tons of greens and beans etc every day i get better at managing this ,it takes experience to know how to deal with it , and thats one thing drs nurses have no idea about ,so .i hope that this story helps people ,if any one wants to chat to me ,please reply ,i am in a massive better place with it all now ,3 years its taken me to be able to sort this all out ,and if i can help anyone not go through the hell ive been through i will be happy to give any advice and tips to get you were i am now .its not easy if your all alone like i am its a night mare ,please excuse my grammar or spelling mistakes its 5 am here and im very tired but had to comment just to give a snap shot on this subject from someone who deals and has delt with it

I'm a type 2 diabetic and I love chocolate!!! Don't despair, you can still eat the chocolate that you love. There is a lot of sugar in most of the chocolate that is out there. You have to retune your tastebuds to the real part - the cacao (or in Nederland kakao).You don't have to give it up, I still eat it, but only the 85% or higher block type (which has about 5g carbs per chunk) or the dutch kakao powder (to make chocky drinks) which has only 9g per 100g carbs, but also has 28g per 100g fibre! You would only use about 20g of the dutch powder to make a chocolate drink, you can sweeten it with stevia and you only get a tiny carb hit.

Hi Yuri Elkaim. Thanks for the video, great information. I just had my A1C test, 6,8 and the doctor gave me 4 month to work on get it better. I have to test the glucose every morning fasting. So far I have lost 23 pounds in 40 days and I'm walking 30 to 45 minutes a days and working out with dumbbells; I'm eating super healthy, not carbs just on vegetables, a lot avocado almost one per day, salmon socked eye and chicken, not bread,or pasta or sugar, I think I'm on track, but I have a protein shake that I have been taking it for years even without doing exercises and the other day I saw a video from a Doctor saying that Isolated protein will get your glucose and insulin high. I use ISO 100 hydrolyzed Isolate. Can you please tell me if I can use this protein or recommend me one?, I normally have it with home made almond milk(just water and almonds 1 cup of almonds to 7 of water) 4 strawberries and the protein powder just one a day after working out. Thank you very much

As a T2 diabetic I have a large green smoothie (almond milk with citrus fruit or berries + spinach/kale/spirulina/raw ginger) for breakfast with a handful of raw nuts. A big mixed salad for lunch (lettuce, celery, herbs, grated raw carrot) with apple cider vinegar and dijon mustard dressing plus either 2 soft boiled eggs or small piece of salmon. In the evening, huge pile of steamed leafy green veg with knob of butter (broccoli, kale, cauli, spinach) with avocado and tomatoes/bell peppers. Snacks are 1 organic apple and 2 squares of 95% cocoa chocolate. Usually had in the evening with a mint tea. Never been so well. Carbs just don't suit me, send my blood sugars sky rocketing. I'm not a cook, as you can see but at last I've found foods that I love and foods that love me back!

a bit surprised you mentioned carrots ,,,carrots have low glycemic load... which one should take into consideration ... portion size is important and glycemic index doesnt take that into account ..same thing with watermelon...high glycemic index but low glycemic load...glycemic load is more imprtant and is a better indicator...having said that i only eat berries when it comes to fruit :) ...

As soon as you cook carrots the sugar level goes up! In raw carrots the sugar is 'much' lower.

@Cure Dat Bitch potatoes are high in carbs, so they tend to raise blood sugar. Both potatoes and tomatoes are members of the nightshade plant family, and those plants can cause sensitivities for some people.

Realistically, I know that we all should be eating the way that's recommended here, ...but everyone of us is weak in certain ways, like for example I can't seem to part with bread. I try to keep it down to about one a day, some days none some two slices, any how since I know it's not the healthiest choice I get high fiber types and I also buckle when it comes to the occasional diet soda I just can't help it !!

In order to assist me with my weight and diabetes, my friend told me about this 4BestDiabetesCure.blogspot.com . I had been adhering to a rigorous fitness and diet program. My blood glucose level was 35 points less after a day of diet and has become 60 points less as I reached day 4. That worked very well, however, and I felt fine. I’m so pleased that my blood sugar is now at its normal level.

Wayne Regehr - He said to get those things out of your home. If you are addicted to bread, keep it in the house and it will call your name because of the easy access. Not in the house, you will eventually kick the habit.

Fasting is very important whether it is intermittent or prolonged 24 hrs + . Diabetes isn’t a eating sugar problem it is eating too much problem . Too much food = mitochondrion transportes that become saturated causing insulin to no longer work because the glucose can’t go anywhere. Fasting/ calorie deficit is the only way to empty the cells energy stores to become respondent to insulin. Quality of food is important for everyone but the current paradigm of type 2 diabetes management is woefully insufficient in fasting as a treatment.

@@victormacias4612 I fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8 hour window (16/8). So I don't eat after 7pm or again before 11am. I have two good meals a day with lots of veggies, moderate protein and healthy fats (brunch and dinner). Works well.

Fasting can certainly be a useful component (and healthful for a number of reasons) but suggesting that it is the "only" way is a bit of a stretch. A whole food plant based diet low in fat (skip the oil, nuts, and avocado) will get you there as well. A combination is a great approach.
@LiMitZplus

Jeff Morgan terrible Advice the majority of people need to watch carb and protein intake . Avacado, good oil like olive and nuts are great calorie sources for diabetics. Plant based diet strategy is ideological not scientific

I had diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago . I look my doctor in the eye and told him . I’m gonna beat this . His body language says good luck with that or whatever . I was very confident that I could beat this disease. I got me a blender and I juice okras , spinach, kale , beet root , cucumber, ripe banana, peanut. I did this every day , until my numbers are perfect . I had to call my doctor to get my results after my annual test .if your numbers are bad they call u immediately .
