Can You elaborate on the sizing? You mentioned that you are a size 9 brannock (as am I,) but went down half a size (8.5). Dievier states that their half sizes fit wider E widths. Nomads already look rather roomy. Do you have a wider foot? Why did you elect for a shorter but wider boot?
The sizing is consistent with Thursday , I tried Dievier in 9 and they worked but were a little roomy. The 8.5 is more correct but that said I can’t wear them with thick socks
Like what I see. But Dievier doesn't make any boots in my size so I will have to stick with Thursday. I might need to hit you up for insoles & kilties though.
My Heritage Oiled Dusk arrived the other day and I really like them for casual general purpose boots - super comfortable with almost zero break-in required. My only question is how to care for an oiled dusk boot? I own all kinds of leathers...waxed...rugged...all kinds of suedes, etc. But never an "oiled" leather. I have all the leather conditioners, balms, creams, renovators, polishes, and beeswax. The only thing I don't have is mink and neatsfoot oil. Can I simply apply Bicks or Venetian, or do I need to buy a leather oil? Thanks!
@@DalesLeatherworks I'm going to use Venetian Imperial Leather Balm, but I also plan to order some Smith's Leather Balm since that it sounds like an equally nice product...just a little different result. Cheers! Oh, I was at the barber and my Dievier Oiled Boots received a compliment. It surprised me because no one has ever complimented by sub-$200 boots, ever, it's usually the Grant Stone and costlier boots that people notice.
I'm up for new boots and want to give this bootmaker a try...specifically, their Normad Heritage. My only issue is sizing...I'm 10.5D Brannock (10-5/8 and full-average width) and have a lower-arch. I chatted with Dievier online and they said to order 10.5D true-to-size. But I'm not so sure now. Helm fit perfectly true-size 10.5D, Grant Stone and Thorogood fit perfect one-half size down (10D), but Thursday recommended dropping down one-half size (Captain) and they were too snug. Their Captain and Diplomat (Moc Toe) 10.5D fit just fine with medium/heavyweight socks. You' suggested dropping down half-size (roomy toe box) and they're telling me go with my true size. My only comparison would be my Grant Stone Diesel and Ottawa 10D fit me like a glove (the truest fit of any of my boots). However, I actually had to drop down to 9.5D in their Field Boot because the last had just a very high toe box and was formed for a someone with a high arch IMO. An insole helped (when I originally ordered the 10D Field Boot) but it just didn't feel right so exchanged them for 9.5D, which fits quite nicely with lightweight wood socks. I'm thinking--based on my experience with the Field Boot and your suggestion, that I should order the 10D. Thoughts? And thank you for all the terrific reviews.
@@DalesLeatherworks Dievier send me a $40 promo code, so I applied to a factory seconds pair of Nomad Gen 2 Cognac Suede in 10D. The rough-cut suede is butter soft and, with the soft leather inserts, the boots were immediately comfortable. They feel more like a pair of comfortable high-ankle hiking moccasins than they do boots, so my knees are big fans so far. Crazy good price with the promo code. One of upper was a shade lighter than the other, but I hit it with some suede conditioner and a nubuck waterproofer, and difference is unnoticeable. As far as fit, they literally fit as though my foot was used as the last. But they only fit because of the roomy toe box, and softness of the leathers. I can tell the 10.5 would also fit...even if I had to wear a heavier weight sock. Only question is I have a pair of Nomad Heritage Oiled Dusk Soft Toe in size 10 that I pre-ordered...and it looks like they're going to ship in a week or so. If the leather is as soft, or softer, than my Gen2 Cognac Suede, then I'll keep the 10s. However, if it a stiffer/durable leather, I'll probably change to 10.5 and use them as Fall/Winter boots. What would you suggest, and thanks! Finally, I wasn't a fan of the laces...they were just a bit too think (with the Gen2) so I replaced them with some paracords, which which are much easier to lace.
