@@Arkanmalek45 23.97 fps is the lowest fps where everything recorded on to a sensor can be seen without stuttering. So when yoy need to rotoscope or camera solve for a scene lower fps means faster output.
It also is because our eyes are most comfortable and view at almost 24 fps. Anything faster or slower can be identified. Hence, MKBHD goes 24 fps all the way.

24 fps was selected because initially when movies were recorded on Camera film rolls, the rolls were very expensive. They found the lowest frames they could go for the film without being jittery was 24fps. This was just to save cost and not for any "feels".
This is a topic I always seen while downloading movies but not thinked about it... For me, this is very, very important shorts. Thankyou Bro for making such a useful and informative shorts.
@@Aditya_Music_India he's talking about your English 🤦🏻♂️there are so many grammatical errors in your comment people will laugh So he's trying to say to improve your grammar bro hope you understand 👍🏻
I heard somewhere that, Digital Projectors(not that works with black round films, the Digital one) at that time doesn't support frames higher than 24 and then people are used to it, therefore film producers are still using that.
🙂 Actually, low fps Shooting provide more details & Stability in every frame compared to high fps which focuses on more frames per second to capture every little movement !!!
Please don’t mind but I read somewhere long ago that the establishment of the 24 frames per second (fps) standard in early cinema was a result of a careful balance between practicality and viewer experience. During that time, film reels were indeed expensive, prompting filmmakers to find an optimal frame rate that could minimize costs without causing discomfort to the audience. While they experimented with a lower frame rate like 15 fps, it was found to be visually jarring and headache-inducing for viewers. Ultimately, settling on 24 fps struck a harmonious chord: it reduced expenses while providing a smoother, more pleasing visual experience that didn't strain viewers' eyes. This delicate equilibrium between cost-effectiveness and audience comfort solidified 24 fps as the standard frame rate for motion pictures. And 24 fps also made introduction to sound in movies.
Movie frames convey more information per frame, due to motion blur. Just from this one frame, you can probably figure out what is happening in terms of motion: In contrast, frames in a video game are often “static”, they have no motion blur.... It's available but at higher frame rate 🎫 (generally)
No you are wrong...the Hobbit aur gemini man movie ko real life mein 60fps mein shoot kiya gaya tha but uska response kuchh khaas nahi aya ..so still director are running with 30fps and 24fps ...
Many movies are also distributed at 30,48&60 fps, examples : Gemini Man, Life of Pi, few scenes in doctor strange multiverse of madness were at 30 fps. 24 is a very old standard used from the film times so directors and viewers are used to watch it in that frame rate. And also the projectors were made to show 24fps. But because TVs ran on AC current so 25fps and 30fps is used for 50hz and 60hz power supple. But slowly mostly TV/Displays started running on DC so they were made to refresh at 60/90/120hz so 30,60 fps are more suitable for it.
For those who do not know, the other main reason is SOUND. When Sound got integrated into film, also known as 'Married Print' it needed a definite space at which it sounds Natural. And at 24fps, Voice sounded Natural without any change in Pitch. There you have it.
Movies look good because of motion blur even at 24 fps I think there might be some other reasons for choosing low frame rates include easy for editing, better quality in low light, takes less memory. But video games feel choppy due to individual frames(no motion blur) so, atleast around 60fps is required to feel the smoothness
Even after the object is removed, the impression of an object seen by the eye remains on the retina for 1/16th of a second. If we see another object before this time, the impressions of the two merge to give us a sense of continuity. This eye property is known as persistence of vision.
motion blur from camera's shutter speed makes 24 fps smooth. 24 fps from phone camera looks choppy because phones crank up shutter speed to control exposure. Thats where ND filter comes in play
B S. Watching anything in high frame rate feels amazing. There'll be literally MORE you're watching. All panning shots and fast moving camera changes look clear and smooth. I'd recommend trying SVG 4 to see the difference
The motion blur from 24fps videos are much better + most camera that can do higher fps like 24 30 60 will pack same bit rate at lower fps so u get more details in each frame and less crop factor aswell. Imagine recording 60fps or 120fps 8k and then editing that 🤣. Even high budget cinemas worry about storage issues cus even 4k videos takes up lot of storage , 8k or 12k footage takes few hundred tera bytes for each movie .
I think the real answer would be that 60 fps would have so much information that we would miss because of the higher fps count. Everything will feel faster thus missing key details.
Iski actual reason hai...hamari aankho ka picturing rate is approximately 24fps...aur jab ham koi cheez 24fps pe dekte hai toh actual dekhne ka feel deta hai
The main reason is that animators, CGI artists have to edit each images and add special effects one by one. And one image could even take hours to make, also rendering work. That's the main thing.
Right. I have downloaded avengers endgame in 1080p 60fps but when I played the file it was like a football match was playing in front of my eyes that's why I had to download it again with the standard frame rate.
The most practical reason behind this is : Our eyes has also capture things and scenery at 24 FPS So thats why cinematic movies or pictures are taken in 24 FPS To make an equal coordination betwwen our brain and the movie !
I almost read all the comments here and it was pretty sad to see that people still don't have much idea about the technical aspects of film/tv. Films are mostly made in 24fps because back in the 1920s, the theatres used a rolling machine which were capable of rolling the 24 strip film and thats how it became standard between theatre chains and Production/Distribution firms. Where what you see on Indian TV, they are 25 fps. The reason for that is Fields, Scanlines and the electricty flowing in our homes(50hz). US uses NTSC which is 29.97 fps since they use 60hz of elec. Its not possible explain over here but you can search by the given above terms. Also, 90hz, 120hz don't mean jackshit to our naked eyes. Thats just a marketing gimmick. I'm a professional Editor with more than 10 years of experience and have worked on Films, TV, and a huge number of documentaries/web projects. I am now a Visual Matketing Editor working in the U.S., just in case you wanted to know about me.
Earlier dogs and cats were not reacting to TV shows. Now we are seeing that they were also able to see TV. May be the technology is now advanced and is visible to them also.
Aur eyes 👀 sees the world at 24fps but, does the world work at 24 fps?NO. It doesn't matter if the fps is more than 24 our eyes will see it at 24fps only. Also, adding more fps will make the videos look more real(better). In film 🎥 they use 24fps because it reduces the work while editing and adding VFX.
No , actually when Camera were not digital ,there was rolling reels which were moved in 1 second : 24 times , So People got used to it and thereafter 24fps is considered to be cinematic
ek or reason hai ki jab kisi scene me achhe VFX use karne hote hai to wo sari frames me ek ek kr k krna padta hai industry level pe isliye 24fpa pe karte hai agar higher framerates pe same chiz kare ge to cost badhe ga or time double lage ga
@@harshkushwah5132 But I recommend to shoot at 60 because kai bar aisa hota hai ki pehle ap slomo nhi chahte ho but later editing mei mann badla but fps kam hone ke wajah se smooth na ho ye problem face nhi karni padegi. In 60fps You can make a decent smooth slomo by slowing down with Enabling Optical flow in Premiere Pro.
It's because human brain interprets motion at a minimum rate of 24fps. Anything faster seems moving and slower than 24 fps looks to us like stop go motion.
Exactly if movies/serials were recorded in 60fps it looks like it’s been shoot with a smartphone and the feeling of watching a movie/serial will be spoiled.
Sahi bola bhai, ye humarey idhar regional music videos 60 fps pe bana rahe hai, batao toh, ajeeb sa lagta hai, doesn't feel cinematic at all due to too many fps.
60FPS is tool real. In 60FPS even the best of the actors fail to perform well, because of too much realness. CGI is also super hard/costly at 60FPS. Stunt-doubles are very conspicuous in 60FPS. Even in 24FPS movies there are some scene where they reduce the FPS to 20 and below to hide imperfections.
