I just bought a pair of polarized STNGER glasses and they were about 100$. Very comfortable and durable. My only concern is the shade of them? I'm a truck driver and I kinda feel they should be a bit darker. I feel like I should be able to stare directly into the sun without having any discomfort. They're dark enough where from the outside looking in, u can barely see my eyes. Am I over thinking it or should I reconsider darker polorized glasses?

@@lesleymaidona8947 it would be interesting to see if you notice a difference between your new blue light glasses and your current ones if your current ones have antiglare or if they are uncoated. The beauty of running my own business is that I can make content with truth and transparency, this is something that you will notice in more of my content. With regards to your new purchase of blue light blocking lenses, there is a big divide in the optical world with this, firstly the claim that blue light is as damaging as is stated in the media, this may not actually be as bad as is suggested, also the benefits of blocking such light and the proof that the lenses worn are actually doing what they say is another thing. Some say it can partyle be a placebo effect, whilst I know of some wearers that say they are great, when in actual fact it's their first pair of glasses and either blue light lenses or normal anti glare lenses would have done the same job for them with the same effect. I think this particular area still needs real research and any claims or lenses used need to be backed up and produced by a reputable source. There are many claims that it helps improve sleep, helps relieve eye strain, help delay macular degeneration and other things, however a good pair of clear lenses with anti glare and a normal UV filter will do just the same if not better, alot of this is how it's marketed, but equally everyone is different and everyone experiences things differently, hope this also helps a bit. Be interested to know what prompted you to get some blue light lenses? Where you experiencing any problems?

@@precisionopticseyewear thanks again for the quick reply and insight. I was shopping for glasses recently because my prescription had changed from the last four years. So, I was advertised by many specifically blue light blocker deals, brands, or profiles/websites. And, I have heard about them for about 2 or so years now. I remember it was recommended by my local optometrist at the time it was a new thing for them and talking to people who use them for work. And, I was always very skeptical because I didn't want to spend money on something that wasn't going to actually work for me. And, now while I was shopping for new frames and lenses I came across a blue light blockers deal that was the best deal out of all the ones advertised to me and I said "why not?" because they were very adorable compared to other online stores. Although, they're all affordable. These were extremely low priced. And, I thought why not give them a shot? If I like them cool 🤓 if not, it didn't break the bank.

How do polarizing lenses work when viewing a source that also has a polarizing filter. I have noticed that I sometimes have to remove my glasses or turn my glasses to see the numbers on the pump at some fuel stations.
@precisionopticseyewear

Polarised lenses will filter horizontal light, hence their ability to reduce glare from flat surfaces lime wet roads and water etc. Some displays will emit light in different ways which is why you may notice this on some displays 🙂

@precisionopticseyewear
@precisionopticseyewear 2 года назад
Hi James, Merry Christmas first of all 🤓🎄 Thanks for watching and for your question. A photochromic lens (light and dark in and out of the sun) will work well as it will adapt and adjust as driving conditions go from bright to dark. For night driving the tinted and polarised options would not be safe or recommended. Many photochromic lenses are UV protected as standard, some protected against various spectrums of UV light but will depend upon the brand. There are lenses made specifically for night driving, I recently made a video in this if you have a look at my recent videos on here. There are some amazing products out there, but it's all about finding the best ones for your needs. What we're you hoping to achieve with new lenses? Are you having problems with night driving currently? Many thanks Colin

Hi Josh, thanks for your comment. There are various lenses that are available that can help with this. Due to the fact that you are in this much discomfort and pain, I strongly suggest that you see an optician as bright lights and digital screens can cause many people discomfort or irritable eyes, but I think the fact that you are experiencing pain, I would get this checked out. I do not want to alarm you and I'm not giving you medical or health advice. Lens coatings such as anti glare and other filters specifically designed for different types and wavelengths of light are available, I would speak about this when you see someone, hope this helps.

Hi Colin! Recently my new prescription lenses changed cause a lot of distortion causing discomfort. The distortion a.k.a fishbowl effect is only at the bottom half of the lenses… R sph from -4.25 to -5.00 cyl from 0 to -0.5 L sph from -3.75 to -4.25 cyl from 0 to -0.75 Will my eyes adopt to it or is there any other options. The optician doesn't even take my pantoscopic tilt measurements unlike the previous optometrist.
@precisionopticseyewear
@precisionopticseyewear 3 года назад
Hi Benjamin, appreciate your time and for your question, thank you. There could be more than one thing happening here. It could well be that you are noticing the new change on your Cyl power. As your previous prescription/glasses have had no astigmatism correction (this is what the Cyl power is for) you now have this element in your prescription, increases in this area can sometimes give you a curved effect, I.e sloping or curving of things that should be straight. It's all very dependant and individual as we could both have exactly the same prescription and eyes, but both experience changes in different ways. This can take time for you to get used to, again, there is no set rule as far as I'm aware of how long it should take. For me the main thing is safety and comfort, obviously I'm not giving clinical or medical advice, but just make sure you are safe when using machinery or driving etc. It would definitely be worth speaking to who made your glasses, a simple check on a focimeter (lens meter) would ensure everything is fine from the lens power point of view. Sometimes when there is an increase in certain areas of your prescription, it may be too much of a jump/increase for your eyes to tolerate straight away, in some cases, what I call a "stepping stone" is used, like a midway point to where you need to be with a prescription but in the right direction, this is a more gradual way to get you to the desired prescription but over a longer period of time. With regards to the pantoscopic tilt being measured, I wouldn't be able to comment without seeing various things such as the fit of previous glasses vs how the new glasses fit, there are many other factors that can contribute to distortion, from different lens materials to the measurements taken when your new glasses/lenses were dispensed. I hope this helps a bit for you. How long have you had these new glasses for? Kind regards, Colin

@@precisionopticseyewear thx for your precious time on Christmas Eve to answer my question! It's the exact same lenses from Zeiss just different power. It's been 3 days since the changes. Maybe I'll wait for a week or 2 more to see if it gets any better before I claim the warranty from Zeiss/return to the optician. I noticed the steering wheel top looks closer to me in fact it's actually further away from me when I'm driving. And the meters supposed to lean away from me but now it's leaning towards me. @precisionopticseyewear
@precisionopticseyewear 3 года назад
@@benjaminchai4681 my pleasure. Ok, so we could assume that the lens design and make etc are not the issue here then ( but, always remember that companies will and do change their design and the way lenses are made, this can be picked up and noticed as their technology advances, your eyes can pick up differences, probably not happening in this situation if they are just conventional single visions distance lenses). Glad you have your old ones, safety and comfort is very important, and yes, worth trying for a while, obviously keep in mind your return policies etc. But something like this should be well looked after by your supplier as it's not like you are changing your mind on the frames etc. Make sure you let them know what's happening etc so they can log this on your file etc, from a business point of view it will be better for you to keep them in the loop as to what your are experiencing and that you will try them for a bit and so on, this way when you approach them it's not something completely new to them whilst it's been an issue for you for the last few weeks. They can atleast log it and look into to a degree. All of this could just be getting used to the prescription, remember that these lenses may be your new lenses for the next year or two, try not to expect them to click straight into comfort, think of it like buying and decent pair of shoes, they take time to break in sometimes. Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. You wouldn't want a standard polarised lens as they will be permanently dark. They would be great in the day time, but unusable at night. There is a new lens out call polarised transitions. They will be clear at night and dark in the day, they react to the light. You could incorporate this with an anti reflective coating to helpd reduce problems with car headlights at night. What do you currently wear at the moment? Many thanks Colin

Also, are most sunglasses we usually buy from the shops simply tinted? And is tinted lens the same as painted?
@precisionopticseyewear
@precisionopticseyewear 3 года назад
Hi, thanks for watching and commenting too. I'm not sure of what your optom has done in terms of painting lenses but this isn't something I'm familiar with. The process of making tinted glasses lenses for sunglasses is tinting by submerging the clear lens into a liquid dye solution. The longer its left in, the darker it goes. Have a chat with your supplier and see if they can apply more tints if possible or re order some darker lenses. I think there may be some confusion as I've never seen anyone "paint" lenses before 😎
