I made the change from Agency to Internal/Corporate - and you'll love it especially if you do full-desk (business development - bringing in the clients and then filling their roles). Started out in agency for about 4-5 years and TA for a while and still in TA but it is much more focused on recruiting and less sales. You also can make really great money. I have 7 years experience and am at 94k and have a manageable requistion load of 20 positions I work on. But I also get to work on a lot more and help establish metrics, SOP's, and focus on the future and help setup goals for my team and myself to help the organization grow. You do more but it feels more rewarding if you enjoy helping people. You're more than just another recruiter - you are a brand ambassador and the face of the company and first impression. It is absolutely worth switching over to if you are tired of filling a role and then being asked hey can you do that 5x more? Sure you can make great money as an agency recruiter... but TA can lead to more HR and you can easily be making over 300k once you're on the higher end.

I strongly agree with you, but in my company, as recruiters, we are more strategic than just sourcing candidates, and filling roles. we do everything you said under Talent acquisition, and the recruiter's explanation you foster is what our Recruitment Researchers do. Our Human Resources do the onboarding and the operational or transactional arm of HR, and they have a base salary, and for us, we have base, commissions and bonuses. And for salary, sometimes the turnover, and how big your company determines that, as some companies offer better compensation than others, so there are so many variables at play here I guess. But it's insightful information you provided here.

I love your videos they give so much insight. I previously worked as an HR assistant and now work as a Senior HR Generalist for a non profit. We are a team of 3 for 215 plus employees. Looking to switch gears into the talent acquisition field as a lot of my day to day is creating offer letters, coordinating onboarding, facilitating orientation, and running background checks; among employee relations, some benefit inquiries, and training coordinating. This video gave me a better understanding of the role so thanks 😊

Let me start out with a BIG thank you for sharing this content; very informative. Here's my dilemma...I been working in the healthcare insurance industry 34 years. Yikes I know! Anyway I have the years to retire but NOT the age so I been thinking about transitioning into another career and HR is at the top of my list. I do feel I have transferable skills (Operations Analyst, Project Analyst, Senior Lead, etc.) plus I will be obtaining my Masters at the end of Dec. 2022 for I already have a Bachelor. Of course I have no plans of starting over when it comes to income so where do you suggest I start? I'm leaning more towards talent Acquisition and hope the salary is more than what you shared but we shall see. I was wondering if I could find a part-time job in HR that will provide me with some hands on experience or even job shadowing at work. Again, anything you can offer is greatly appreciated. I going to keep binge watching and move forward with a plan. Blessings

I had an interview with a talent acquisition specialist month ago. I still haven't heard anything from them whether i got selected or not. I followed up after but no response yet. Does that mean that they are still planning strategically or are not interested ??

Why are they used SIMULTANEOUSLY? Even on LinkedIn, the same person will call themselves a recruiter AND TA in one breath! No wonder there’s confusion!

On LI people do that because both requires similar skills so it opens them up to more job opportunities. Companies and others do it because they simply don't know any better. smh
