Hey Jeanelle! I don't usually write big comments like this on anyones videos, and I don't know if you will ever read this though I hope you do, because I want to appreciate you for everything you do. A lot of these days I've been going through some tough and challenging times, and I feel sad a lot and very alone, but your videos and the content you make really do help. I'm not even kidding, everytime I hear you talk about food and how passionate you are about sharing your experiences and cooking with the world, a smile is guranteed on my face and it truly makes my day so much better. You're a really optimistic person and your personality is so cheery, it really helps a ton, and I've certainly grown to explore the cultures of food in a new and different way, so thank you so much for what you do, I always look forward to watching and learning something new from your videos, seriously thank you, your content means a lot to me, I wish you best of luck, I hope you never stop posting!!

We have a Japanese restaurant called Tokyo where I'm at and their menue lists that as Teppanyaki and I always called it that. A larger chain restaurant called Fuji came in and calls it Habachi. I just call it whatever is on the menue.

In the US, the teppanyaki is called a Flat Top. It allows the Chef/Cook to spread out and cook different things on an expanded cooking surface.

Traditional teppanyaki won't put on a show while it cooks; instead, the chef will concentrate on the cooking temperature and use ingredients that are sourced from high-quality sources. Hibachi is a Japanese cooking style imitation that includes a live performance for the guests. Japanese teppanyaki traditional is available on RU-vid for those who are not knowing of its differences.
@kotaro07
@kotaro07 4 месяца назад
Oddly enough, how I've been seeing it now, Hibachi is the version you get a show with your dinner with the onion train, and fire, as well all the utensils twirling, egg spinning, fake soy sauce bottle. Teppanyaki is you still experience them cooking in front of you, but minus the show.

Hibachi = "fire bowl" (hi 火 = fire, bachi/hachi 鉢 = bowl). It is a stone or ceramic bowl filled with coals and topped with a wire grate to grill foods on top. It is closer to your George Foreman BBQ grill than the flat top teppanyaki grill. Hibachi has absolutely nothing to do with the flat top grill (with or without the show) aside from the western appropriation of the name as popularized by restaurants like Benihana's.

Try this: Step 1: ask one native speaker , get 1 fascinating ( must be true story Step 2: ask another, get an equally convincing and passionate story from a native from a different region within same country as Story 1 Step 3: repeat process for authentic native speakers 3 and 4 and 5....and realise their stories are ad-libbed to play with foreigners , and that their grandparents literally arent literate, little own credible historians !!!! Editor's: video totally shows South East Asian muslims not Japanese people
